  1. Hey, you are the best player for a perinneal SEC middle of the back or cellar dwellar. Kentucky has potential to try and move up in the SEC, but fan support definately is needed. Top recruits can play anywhere, why would they want to go to a school that boos them and only looks at them as a filler between UK basketball season and recruiting time. The statement probably needs to be made by the coach and perhaps Joker should address this but its a valid point. Cobb's play has spoken this season and hopefully the team continues to improve. The defense especially needs to pick up play if they want fan support.
  2. Why I simply stated Uk's offense goes as Hartline goes. The team still struggles based upon defensive play. We definately give up too many points. Still, I'd say an easy and silly interception throw against Ole Miss that got run back for a touchdown definately hurt us. Fact is, we know our defense isn't good, thus, offense has to perform. This means more pressure in my opinion on Hartline. No SEC team is necessarily saying that they just have to stop Mike Hartline when they scheme against UK (at least probably not up to this USC game). Usually these teams are asking how they can prevent the big play capabilities of Locke and Cobb. Still, despite many UK fan's desires that Cobb play all 11 positions on the field, last I checked Cobb can't throw, pass, and run the ball every play. (First half and a lot of the game against USC the WildCobb was quite ineffective). This whole process leads to the fact that Hartline has to be our guy who can distribute the ball effectively and make sure that he gets it to Locke and Cobb at the right times. Obviously UK's defense is much maligned, but if you know that up front as an offensive player, it means you know that the pressure is on you to perform if you want to win. Last night, Hartline and the whole offense did just enough. South Carolina's offense even got in the giving spirit.
  3. As Mike Hartline goes, so does UK's offense. Like it or not we are very dependent upon Hartline's performances. When he is making the right throws, reading defenses, and playing like he did tonight, UK is a good offensive team. When he presses too much, forces plays, and tries to force the issue UK's offense suffers and we get bad plays that cost us like at Ole Miss. Hartline is not a horrible quarterback by any means, tonight and in select games throughout his career he has demonstrated his abilities. Where Hartline get's in trouble is when he seems to want to force the issue on his passes or tries to do too much. This isn't to knock Cobb or Locke, both players are the stars of the offense, but with teams continually keying on them and scheming ways to contain both guys (and in times like tonight, only Cobb) Hartline becomes much more important because he has to look for the other options and draw the defenses away from Cobb and Locke. Great performance tonight. And yes, our defense seems simply confused on the field. I'm not sure why you would be arrogant enough to let a defensive lineman of any sort try to do pass coverage against one of the best young backs in the nation.
  4. Depends on which Lex Cath team shows up. This team isn't necessarily bad, they have talent. However, its young and inexperienced. I like the close predictions.
  5. Just got home from a full day out at the Horse Park. Was a good day. I was out there for work where the company I work for, KORT Physical Therapy has a treatment area in the Covered Arena where Para-Dressage is taking place. I got to walk around a bunch but the only events I say were the Individual Tests for Para-Dressage for Class II Riders and Ia and Ib riders. It was a great time. I helped our therapist treat athletes through out the afternoon and I got to meet many competitors and coaches. It was a blast. These athletes were amazing!! All of the athletes have certain disbailities that limit them in some way, but it was amazing to watch them control the horse. I am still most amazed at one girl for Denmark who is a bilateral leg amputee up to the pelvis. She rides on her sadle without any special straps and controlled the horse amazingly. She ended up third in her field overall. The crowd was not very big for the events but it was steady. I think vaulting and jumping really drew most of the followers though.
  6. Alright, now having read the thread, I get the impression and rightly so that like I thought, the score definately doesn't give a full picutre of the game. Regardless of right, wrong, or what missing a large number of players, and especially ones who play a good amount isn't easy for any team. Still, it definately looked based upon score like Lex Cath was able to wear down LCA and add on to the score in that 3rd quarter. For Lex Cath I can only say don't let this final outcome get your egos too big, you guys were on the end of a couple lopsided decisions very recently and still can improve. However, hopefully the team is starting to come around and find their footing. As for LCA, hopefully things get better next week with the situation with the suspended players and use this experience to fuel the rest of the season. Hats of too a great young program (as if Catholic was that much older) I feel that you guys will bounce back well from this past game.
  7. Before I read anything else in this thread I will laugh at the fact that it seems all I need to do is post one negative, doubting comment on my alma mater about how I think at this point they are playing horrible and should get smacked around by LCA and they respond with a 62-0 shelling that forces me to eat lots and lots of crow. Anyways, looks like Lex Cath's D took care of business throughout. I wonder if LCA's missing players also really contributed to this final outcome.
  8. I don't know, based upon the past few weeks it seems like Lex Cath is still a long way from putting things together. The Cov Cath debacle was very jarring. Not to criticize or bash Madison Central too much but Lex Cath should have run all over them (and seemingly did based on the stats, though penalties hurt). Still when a team is missing key players like Central was Lex Cath still couldn't finish them off till late. It is an in city opponent and Lex Cath definately will be wanting the win, still I think LCA might have their number this year. Lex Cath managed an upset win last year which definately gives LCA reason for wanting revenge.
  9. Seems?? No doubt. Talent is at Lex Cath but it is either young and inexperienced or lacking in size and leadership. I hate to ever say it but I see LCA as a 2 TD or more favorite in this one.
  10. Congrats Rocket, I myself just got engaged a few weeks ago and am definately getting used to all the wedding planning questions. Enjoy it!
  11. A question to any more current Lex Cath fans or grads but how serious does Lex Cath take their JV program? Having come up in the Lex Cath program from middle school to varsity, I always felt like JV was only so so in terms of importance. Freshman ball sometimes had more given to it sometimes. The JV team was usually mediocre to poor at least offensively with maybe only one or two younger guys getting any snaps at the JV level who were potential stars coming up at the Varsity level. Defensively Lex Cath was usually a little better on the JV team with many of the younger linebackers or linemen getting a chance to learn the sets and get some extra snaps. I know while I was there the defense was to usually prep the star freshmen and sophmores who were tagged to become starters on the varsity the next season. This was before Coach Letton so no clue if things have changed since he has been in charge. Just wondering.
  12. The midsummer's was crowded. And imagine if the rain hadn't come how big it could have been!!! My fiancee and I both competed in it this year and definately had a hard time through the first mile just getting in the clear. Still my last 2.1 miles was pretty clean though I didn't leave much in the tank for them. Rebel that is just awesome!!!! Bugatti you are simply tough my man. I have been pretty lame of late about venturing outside for runs. I simply hate the heat but I definately am needing some longer outdoor runs to keep my legs fresh for my upcoming half.
  13. Of course the second I start a thread like this I manage to get swamped in work, school, and life things and forget to follow up with it. Very cool stuff from everybody on here. I can say that running to some degree has been one of the biggest integral things of my life the past three years. I started it as a simple way to workout and relieve stress after I had left graduate school prematurely. I had built up a good amount of extra weight (220lbs) which for a guy at 5'5'' wasn't ideal and with added knee and health issues I needed something. I started out as simply a couple laps in the neighborhood where I lived and would get about a mile to a mile and a half here and there. As I kept going I kept pushing myself and in no time I was both losing weight, feeling better, decreasing my stress, and increasing both my distance, endurance, and pace. Over the past few years I've kept with it quite religiously and while I'm not much for real competitive runs though I am always looking to better my personal times. I shed about 45 lbs over the 3 years and as I said previously, have done numerous 5K's at about 21-22 mins, 2 10k's in the 46min range, and 2 half marathons in the hour and 48 min range. My next half marathon is scheduled for October 31st in Midway, KY. Ironhorse half marathon. With running it is simply the drive or push on my body physically to perform and overcome adversities that I love. I also enjoy the peacefullness of the activity. There is a calming effect at least with me to running. I can think for minutes on end in my head and simply get lost on different little tangents. Furthermore, simply the sense of accomplishment each time I finish is amazing.
  14. Same old same old from Kentucky again today. Knight is fast and this team really likes to run. Maybe even more so then last year??!! Miller is tough and if he remains aggressive this season with his frame and skill I think he can be the leader we need. Liggins also is impressing me this three game stint. Can't wait to see the rest of the bigs on the court. These are practices against lesser squads but the guys are playing tough.
  15. Haha, thought about it but frankly the half's wear me down a lot and the training to get up to them is a lot of time. I'm not sure I have a full in me. Worst part is my knees. I do well on four to 4 or 5 mile runs a week but when I run a lot of miles at once my knees take a hit. I am lacking a lateral meniscus in my left knee and had a distal femoral osteotomy 6 years ago which is spacing my knee right now and while rarely does my knees bother me, they definately take a beating on the longer runs. I think i'm gonna stick with the halfs and 10K more though it is on my bucket list to do a full. I remember a year or so ago talking to you about fulls I believe and you had done a few, correct?
  16. Been pretty serious on it. Did two half's this past year, a bunch of 5K's, and two 10k's. I try to log between 13-20 miles a week. Definately during the summer though I only get maybe one get outdoors run in a week. Luckily I work out at a gym with a pretty nice sized indoor track.
  17. He just seems confused out on the court. The Magic already have a center who is more athletic, has more height, is a better defensive player, and is questionable on offense. Worst case Howard needs to rest for a bit or gets in foul trouble, but still Orton isn't even second option yet and as we see more of him I think the Magic will question him as a third option. I know what the article says about why Orton isn't regretting his decision just yet. And yeah, the upfront guaranteed money is definately there. Longterm however I worry about this kid's prospects. He is three years max away from being ready, yet I am not sure he will be given the time. Frankly I see the kid flaming out, not maturing quick enough for NBA teams, floundering around the lower ranks and ultimately taking his pay check whereever he can get it.
  18. Well I just finished up the Bluegrass 10K this past weekend and figured I'd start up a thread get people maybe posting any good upcoming races this summer. I've been doing the running thing now a little over two years (at least seriously) and must say that it has been a lot of fun and helped out with the beer pooch UTB had from the college years. Anyways, any ideas or run's to promote? Next good one in Lexington is the Midsummer's Night Run 5K though any serious runner's probably should look elsewhere as its usually crowded and not much room except up at the front for actual running. I also know of the Louisville half for their Parks and Rec which is in October. Nice run down river road in mid October. Some narrow paths but very scenic.
  19. The more and more I see Orton the more I think UK fans and maybe the rest of the sports world had it wrong on who was the most immature UK player. Orton seemed to be in many a verbal argument with opponents towards the end of the season and seemed to cause more of the physical issues. I liked the kid and definately wish him the best, but I will stand by my opinion that of all the early defects from UK, this was by far the worst. I still fail to see much upside on this kid.
  20. I had thought the Bengals players had been unusually quiet of late.....
  21. I have disliked him since the beginning. Of course I am very anti-Cubs. Still, moment I knew I disliked Zambrano as a player was when the Cubs v. Cardinals were playing about 7 years ago or so and I think there had been some words and a hit batsman or two already in the game and the Cardinals were starting to run away with the game. Jim Edmonds steps up to the plate to face Zambrano and without hesitation, Zambrano winds up and beans Edmonds in the hip. What got me was that Zambrano made no effort to mask the incident. He went into the wind up, threw the ball, and without breaking stride walked right towards the dugout after throwing the pitch since he knew he was about to be ejected. Classic Zambrano.
  22. ??? Spell Howard??? Trade bait?? Howard going to be a Power Forward?? Orton a potential power forward?? Or is this simply a long term plan?? I vote last option.
  23. No doubt, kind of what I was saying. Each team potentially could use Orton, but by no means is he what I'd consider a sure thing for them. I'd be worried in the first round.
  24. Hate this for you Daniel but things are looking bleaker. Memphis could maybe use you, do the Nets need you?? Are you going to be a Dwight Howard backup? Or will you luck into a position with John Wall? Just not sure at this point.
