  1. Last comment, probably what this team needed. We played a good team and we came unglued. Forced things, made mistakes, got out of rhythm, looked like the young team with holes at certain positions that everyone predicted of us preseason. Hats off to UCONN, played a great tourny. Hopefully UK learns from tonight and bounces back strong.
  2. This one could be argued over and over. The next arguement would be, look at who he had coming in his first year if he hadn't gotten that recruiting class, or for that matter would Patterson have really returned. Course then we look at next year's recruiting class which at this time has at least three one and done potentials. Still, I don't know many coaches who say no to Teague, Gilchrist, or Davis. Still, I don't know the answer at this time, go for only two studs and then a bunch of fours or three star guys who want to be in college awhile? Choose the five star with the rawest talent knowing he is going to be a project his first couple years? Hope a McD's all-american has freshman and even sophmore struggles?? Its a question college bball as a whole is asking. For UK fans, I'd say we still have to take a wait and see approach as to how things work out. As for tonight, we came back to reality. First four games were a glimpse at how good we can be (even w/o Kanter) mixed with only slight views of our flaws. Tonight our flaws took center stage and we hit a buzzsaw. What frustrates me about Miller's play isn't that I think he should be a star, but that he fails to show consistent aggression. DeAndre Liggins is not necessarily the most skilled shooter or even ball handler, but he has hustle and he provides sparks. Overall frustrating.
  3. And my only point was that we are still looking at a very small bubble (one season) and making this statement about no experience. Anyone that says Eric Bledsoe and Daniel Orton were sure things to leave for the pros last year preseason are crazy. Bledsoe was a maybe. Still how many teams have lost more than two freshman in any one season besides last years team? You are right, we will have a good chance next year with those returnees, and ideally we will hopefully see more of this blend of some young greats who leave right away and some who stay for two, three, four years.
  4. Yeah, we should never bring in freshmen, that is crazy. What team tries to recruit young great players to their program consistently? (Five years from now if we continue to have no seniors ever then I will change but people are really making some blanketing statements about ONE season right now)
  5. I'm expecting him to provide something more than simply a warm body on the court. He's a Junior who has been a starter and played with good players. He should if anything else be a leader, he is nonexistent this whole tournament.
  6. Can anyone tell me if Darrius Miller actually made this trip? (yes i saw his 3 a second ago, but has any other player had so much expectation and yet been able to do so little?)
  7. We definately seem lost without Jones on the court. Offense was many times without much purpose. Unless the purpose was to force a horrible shot. I expected this Oklahoma or Washington. Finally, we get to see it sadly in Championship against a team that is playing with a lot to prove and playing well. Lets settle down and make this one respectable.
  8. Sorry, gotta hop on the bandwagon here. 95-96 was deeper and more experienced. The claim that the up-tempo pressing style would play into Wall & Company's favor seems crazy to me as well. Wall and company might get a few easy buckets here and there but I give '95-'96 the edge even in this aspect of the game. They thrived on the uptempo press. Fact is '95-'96 was very good and very experienced. Delk, McCarty, and Pope were all seniors. Anthony Epps (I may overglorify this guy, but a great game manager) was a junior and would make life tough for Wall and eat Bledsoe alive on defense. Walker, McCarty, Edwards, Sheppard, Mercer, Anderson, and even Turner would give all of '09-'10 fits. '09-'10 team would be in foul trouble early and often. Shooting wise, '95-'96 would own the three point line as well. Yes Wall and Cousins are studs and in the long run maybe the best players to have ever come through Kentucky (history will only tell) but they were freshmen who made too many mental errors and cheap fouls. '95-'96 ultimately is better because they were deeper, had as much talent at least, and that talent was more experienced. '09-'10 may have a slight advantage in paint size wise, but not enough to counter balance '95-'96's shooting advantage especially outside the 3.
  9. Good stuff guys. Bugatti, once again you are the man. Not sure I am Ironman material yet. Still don't have the swimming or biking down. Awesome Rebel, if I do another Half, which I am unsure yet if I will, it will probably be the Flying Pig. In my opinion its one of the best run events in this region. Get hill training in! I've been taking time off of late and thinking about getting back to some leg strengthening here soon. Life has a tendency to get busy. Anyways guys, keep up the running!! Winter is my favorite time to get outside and get some running.
  10. So Kentucky isn't technically playing great, but is at least winning. Portland is well playing very very bad? Can this be attributed to our defense or just to Portland not being on at all?
  11. So turnovers galore or just no real pacing, flow, and purpose to game? Or both?!
  12. I'm looking for it to be on a different channel. Stupid ESPNU. Guess thats what happens when the fiancee pays the cable bill and not you....:-(
  13. As my fiancee reminded me after the race when I was being negative about my time, My Primary goal in these races is to simply finish. All other goals are simply personal ones I set for myself. It was a beautiful run out in Woodford County and overall I thought it went well. Seemed to go off much smoother than the Lexington Half Marathon back in March and weather was a heck of a lot better! Hope you had a great run Zoot.
  14. Durability and Endurance are my issues the longer I go. My PR was my first mini last October in the Parks and Rec Half Marathon in Louisville on I think River Rd. 1:48+. I like my general pace now I just have to figure out how to run that pace longer distances without wearing down.
  15. One of the most amusing articles I read all year was a Time magazine reflection on Rand Paul's chances of winning the election. The jist of the article was that any other state or even any other time period prior to about 10 years ago, Rand Paul wouldn't have been given a second look and probably not even made it close to being elected. However, the state of Kentucky has become so anti-democrat and furthermore, anti-Obama policies and thus they are willing to elect such a radical Republican over anyone willing to run against him as a Democrat. While the article had its slant, many truths existed in it.
  16. Good stuff Bugatti. You are tough. I did the Ironhorse Half Marathon sunday in Midway and the 13. 1 miles kicked my butt. I still have a ways to go on my endurance. The hills out there worked me pretty good. Still, 1:54:51 wasn't horrible though actually my worst of 3 minis.
  17. My Prediction Lexington Catholic  Trinity :dancingpa Scoreboard might not be able to keep the full score.
  18. Hahaha, you mean there isn't some special secret in the last three days that pushes you past the hump??!! Yeah, that is what I'm thinking. My problem is I get antsy sometimes in the days prior to the race and want to run 5ks and 10k distances but still at my normal pace and then I manage to wear myself out too much. I think i'm gonna get a light workout the next two days and just maintain the good carb load. I'm hoping for beautiful weather to match the gorgeous scenery around Midway this sunday.
  19. That has been a worry of mine. I can freestyle no doubt if I want to get from point A to point B just messing around. However, doing a freestyle or any other form of swimming properly for cardio, endurance, and strengthening is something entirely different and I'm not sure how good I'd be swimming laps. Someday I'll build up the courage to just do a few laps at my gym.
  20. Hammertime, definately rock the eliptical. I have told a couple family friends who have bad knees or ankles that I prefer this equipment if you just want to get some exercise. Like Bugatti said, its all in how you use it. Give some resistance and work yourself. Bikes work as well and if you have access to an indoor pool I hear it might be one of the best complete workouts for ya. Sadly, I've never been much for swimming, lord knows it would help my knees.
  21. Shew any good tips for the three days prior to a half marathon Bugatti? Before my first one I jogged two days before just to keep the legs fresh and I felt like on race day my legs weren't fresh. Second one the weather was a huge factor since it rained the entire race and was cold but I think not doing much the few days before the race didn't help. Im debating some fun agility or goofy things at the gym. Suggestions?
  22. Boise State vs. Oregon could be a pretty fun National Championship game after last season. At this point I think they are most likely teams to run the table. Auburn's D is still too iffy for me in a matchup against Alabama. Plus they still will face SEC East Champs USC, Florida, or Georgia and that isn't an easy feat. If Auburn does run the table however, its next to impossible not to think they deserve the national title nod.
  23. Man, I'm jealous, the Bourbon Barrell chase sounds awesome, sadly this has been a busy period for me but hopefully I can look to get a team for next year. It sounds like an amazingly fun event. My fiancee reminded me of it yesterday when she said she saw its closing events.
  24. Awesome to hear everyone's stories from running. I fully thank running for helping me out the past three years not just physically w/ weight, but mentally with my stress levels and also with just difficult situations I was going through when I started. Busted a long run yesterday that I definately felt, but I've been trying to find difficult routes lately to test me a bit. After the IronHorse Half Marathon I think its back to 10ks and 5ks for me. 3 Half Marathons is a feat but man they kick my butt.
  25. Zoot, I am running in that. Don't forget, it might be close to Lexington, but it is very much Midway,KY!!! I am looking forward to the run though this time around getting ready has been tough. Thought of dressing up for the run, but I'd hate to look like a big goober all dressed up if I have to walk even a few minutes. Plenty of wonderful horse farms and sites on this one I hear. Looking forward to it.
