  1. It starts with ball handling. Liggins looked alright but his lack of experience shows. Porter has some experience, but he is in over his head and his lack of talent shows. Find the ball handler and go from there. Second off, we need a shooting threat, any type. Meeks definately has his moments, but he is relyed on for so much, we need somebody, ANYBODY, to step up and just hit shots. Oh, and we need this, and that, and this, and that, etc., etc., etc., etc.,......
  2. LCHSshould win this one pretty easy. With the week off last week I'd expect them to not pull 1st and 2nd stringers till mid third at least. Go Knights.
  3. Lexington Catholic used to start their seniors or if they had a large senior class, would at least try to get them in relatively early in the Senior Day game. I have no clue if they still do this, but they did at least the four years I was there. Course, we usually had a weaker opponent on the slate for Senior Day so the coaches weren't as worried about losing or getting down early. Now if we had been playing the likes of Boyle Co I can't say what we would have done.
  4. Harrelson still has a little work finishing around the basket but the kid looks good and I think he could really be a huge key to this team. Everyone knows Patterson can produce and a healthy Meeks is dangerous. However, UK needs that third and fourth options and right now I think Harrelson is definately making a claim as a key sixth or seventh man. Definately want to see UK against a bit taller team, I was at the game and you could tell that our big men seemed confused at times as to who they should guard because their big men were the same height as the guards. The Cats have work to do, but I was overall happy with tonight. The team looked energetic, long, and ready to play D. The young guys looked like they will give some much needed production and of course PP and Jodie are firing on all cylinders.
  5. From everything I know about Lunsford, If the Green Party was the only way he could run for a position he'd take it. The guy simply wants a seat. Course, I'm in agreement with most people so far, I'm not a fan of either guy. Any write in options?
  6. Whoops, forgot we had the Politics and Relgion forum, if any mod wants to, could you please move this thread to that forum??? I am actually interested in responses just to see if I understand the situation correctly or not.
  7. Okay, I admit I am not always the most current or up to date on all things political. However, I was sitting doing some studying and had the tv on as background noise when I heard a commercial that made me say HUH???!!! It was a PRO Bruce Lunsford commercial talking about Mitch McConnell and tying him with Bush's acts. Near the end of the commercial it was mentioned that McConnell supported Bush in his bailout plan for aiding the failing economy. Now what confused me here is that the Bailout Plan (yup, im capitalizing it) while given support by Bush and ultimately a good amount of Republicans, seemed to me at least to be trumpeted by the Democratic party quite heavily and when it initially didn't pass, most media outlets and Democrats actually blamed the Republicans for not wanting to help the American people by bailing out the economy aka banking systems, etc.... Why would a Democratic candidate try to bash his Republican opponent, the incumbent, for voting in favor of the Bailout Plan that was very much trumpeted by his own (Democrat) party, and seem to make it out to be a huge negative for that support??? I'd like to mention, I wasn't very much in favor of the bailout plan and don't really see it as helping much, but still, how can a Democratic candidate actually bash his opponent for supporting the plan?
  8. First, I'd vote Hartline to start. Not who I want to start, but who I think will start. I really don't think that the logic that if Cobb is at QB we take our best recieving option out of the lineup because as of right now Hartline has only on occassion even been able to prove he can actually get the ball to his recievers. The Arkansas game was special, and its hard to knock Hartline for what he did there. Still, he for most of the game showed the futility he has displayed all year. The kid doesn't scare defenses and we will continue to have to rely on our own defense to win for us. Cobb at least brings multiple threats to his game as QB. The kid can run and throw the ball. He is an athlete that makes plays. (Frankly though, I just want somebody who is gonna actually attempt to get first downs on third down. We can't continually hope our athletes will make plays to get the first down because so far this season they have failed more times than they have succeeded. If I see us throw the ball two yards or less when we need four or five yards for a first down much more I am going to scream!!)
  9. Congrats to Highlands on the big win. I haven't gotten to see Lex Cath play this season, however I talked with a few people close to the program who had scouted Highlands a few weeks ago and thought this game could get pretty ugly. I actually think they were happy with the outcome considering it sounded like Lex Cath hung tough but simply didn't have enough to run with the Birds. While Lex Cath might not be at the level of the Kentucky elite right now, they should still be difficult in 4A.
  10. Indeed, and I am not arguing that OSU's D isn't good. I am simply stating I think PSU is better.
  11. Hard to go against Joe Pa and Penn St. I am usually quite anti Big Ten, however if there is one team in that conference I can usually cheer for it has to be the Nittany Lions. Offensively they are better than Ohio St. by just a little bit, but it is in the defense where I think they really seperate themselves from the Buckeyes.
  12. Well I got lucky that I had to wait on my friend and his family before I could leave this one so I managed to be around when the comeback occurred. Was disheartened at times with how poor this team exectues on offense. However, I was given some hope by the final two drives. Hartline this year has at times seemed to be aiming his throws instead of stepping up and simply tossing the ball with confidence. Those final two TD passes were good throws where he appeared to have confidence and simply was making the right play. If the kid can start to play with some confidence I think he could pan out to at least be an adept QB. With our defense keeping us in games, if our offense can even be semi productive I think we can win two more games this year. It was said in preseason, and I still believe it, Randall Cobb is something special. The kid simply knows how to make plays happen. Gonna love having him around the next few years.
  13. Highlands by a good amount though I think if Lex Cath can remain confident and make some plays they might be able to keep this one respectable awhile. I just don't think Lex Cath has the talent to run with Highlands or any of the other big teams right now. Finally, after a good period of time, I'd have to say Lex Cath has hit a rebuilding year.
  14. Just looking, last big blowout before last year came in regular season '98. Lex Cath big. The four times we played Boyle Co. while I was at Lex Cath combined was only 16 pts difference. Still, I see this one as close, though I'd give the edge to Boyle Co. Two good defenses, one offense (Boyle Co.'s that is a little more productive). Lex Cath will have to hope they can get some big plays and control field position if they want to win.
  15. Well this one was a little better than the game I was at tonight (Auburn 3-Miss St 2). However, jeez, was already worrying about that last play being a replay of LSU when it almost happened.
  16. First off, in my opinion from people I've talked to, Lex Cath is definately down from the past couple of years. Doesn't mean they are necessarily bad, but against competition like they've played in two of these past games at least they were definately outmatched. As for Lex Cath vs Louisville schools, Lex Cath did go 1-1 against Male in two close games while Bush was there and did have their close game against St. X but you are right, they have struggled of late against X.
  17. Should Lex Cath versus Bishop Chatard be an interesting game at least to watch for the first week at the Bluegrass Bowl?
  18. Cool to see that the middle schools are getting in on the fun this year. Having grown up in this program, starting at the middle school level, it was always fun to get to play on the high school field. Course, I was at the middle school level when Lex Cath still had grass, and that new gym was still just our practice field for high school, and game field for middle school. I do like seeing that the school has gone out and gotten some teams from out of state to play against just to give a little flavor to this event.
  19. Not sure though in years they played together that Bush and Jones really were a great tandem. I don't know what #'s Bush put up as a sophmore or frosh. Plus Bush and Jones mainly played WR didn't they? I know when Spencer and Barclay were both in the backfield and Bush was a wideout/QB/TE/RB that they had one heck of an offense.
  20. No one in Lexington will play Lex Cath......(I'm not sure if even Christian will anymore) That might be kinda old news though.
  21. This one was pretty sweet to watch on tv. It was even cooler cause I got to play against both teams that season (Trinity in a Scrimmage, Male pre-district). From my era anyways of High School football this might have been one of the best. As for your next game which was Lex Cath taking down Highlands on the way to their first State Title, that one was great, but the Lex Cath win over the Louisville Male team in '01, early season before Male's QB (Blackerby?) got injured still blows my mind sometimes because it was a victory over one of the big three in such exciting fashion.
