Districts and Region: Truly wide open without a doubt and hey if this gig doesn't work out there's always that weather guys job. Your record is probably better than their's and I'm sure it pays alot better......

Incredible group of young men and lost in all this is our Coach, Brian Kirk. Yes he has Senior, tested talent but what he has done and is doing with coaching these guys these guys and especially his player development will give meaning to "tradition never graduates" for a long time at our humble little school.

Interesting how these BC threads always end up about 1 Player and 1 Coach, seems a little counterintuitive to me to defend a loss that way or pin the loss on them solely either. Teams win and lose games period and when the tournament begins, winners advance and losers talk about next year. I suspect most people on this thread can tell you what team won their district and Region but very seriously doubt they can tell you how many points the runner up team's leading scorer had or what that coaches record was. Just my observation and MHO.

Big game for Bracken......not so much for Augusta. Panther's goal will be play hard but avoid injury. Bracken has an advantage in this one I think since they'll bring all they got. Even the "homers" will lose faith if they go 0-2 vs' Augusta, no win at Class A and watch the Region from the stands again.

Royals just need to not get anyone hurt before tournament. Get some kids PT that don't normally get it.

This game probably saved us from the "class system" in KY. It was about to happen as I recall......

Really nice win for the Royals pre-district. Sounded like they fought hard to close this one out.

Any team......any given night........unbelievable season. I'm not sure God knows who'll win the 10th this year.

My final post on this thread: let's get back to the 39th District Tournament prognostications and leave out any critique of Austin Crawford. I don't know the young man well but my assumption is he's a 17 or 18 year old kid trying to be the best player he can be and that's what he needs to do. I can tell you I see him at Mass every Sunday so IMHO, he's looking for guidance in the right place and hopefully he's not privy to this site. Obviously, he's having personal success and again, my assumption is he wants team success to follow. I can tell you from experience that these kids have enough pressure and unreasonable expectations put on them by people trying to live through them in some vicarious way so let's not make this a worse than it already is........and any comparison to current or former players is always unfair (too many variables): I picked Augusta over Mason in the final in a close one......let's disagree or agree on the TEAMS in this tourney guys.....

He deserves as much consideration as anyone else mentioned in this thread IMHO. If there was a most "transformed award" he'd win that hands down. As Quagmire stated he went from being a three point shooter (and maker) to a great all around basketball player who plays all facets of the game......

I think I understand your logic on this one (which is somewhat troubling for me) RP although I'm sure a few people are scratching their heads. CC, MoCo, Paris and Brossart are pretty safe bets to make the Region based upon seeding and I assume this means you believe Mason wins the 39th with Augusta Runner Up. It also appears you think Harrison and PC will make the tournament but neither will be a factor. If I'm right about this let me know.... I'll need to get something set up with my Therapist quickly, lol.

This thread is way out of bounds and I hope it's dead. I think the 39th's stage is sufficiently set, let's see what happens. It'll be settled on the court by the TEAM that wants it the most and executes.

Interesting trivia: Brian Kirk Augusta's Head Coach played on the very first Augusta Freshman squad to win the Region. However, Mason had a young man named "Lofton" who didn't play for them during the Freshman tournament that year. Mr. Lofton is still playing in France and Brian never made it back to the 10th Region tournament . So if it's tea leaves, crystal ball or other future predictor device you use, I'd hedge against any specific predictability.

Someone suggested in the 39th district thread we start a thread Bach vs' Crawford.....Bad idea! I try not be negative toward anyone on this forum so I won't take that bait. However, I think it is important to set the record straight on Augusta Basketball for the last 8-9 years. First, I think it's important to understand that Augusta has approximately 60 male students in the entire HS and it's hardly been a recruiting Mecca lately or ever. Arguably most of the kids that have played here during this period for us would not have made a team at Mason, Campbell, Clark, etc. or even Bracken County let alone had a chance to actually get playing time. However, what they have achieved during this period, which is not over I hope, is nothing short of miraculous given the odds of ever happening at all: Five (5) successive trips to the Region, 2 very Unlikely Championships (we'd never beaten Mason in roughly 30 consecutive attempts and they we're ranked #1 in the Region and #10 in the State the last time), and 4 Runners-Up, and a Class A State Tournament appearance along with numerous 1st in Augusta Basketball history with Banners and trophies as proof, etc., etc. begs the question, who is responsible for this miracle? Well, I'll let you in on a little secret that really isn't a secret if you know the game: NO ONE SINGLE PERSON:sssh: It has been primarily the TEAMS (collectively not just 5 or 6 kids 15+ kids every year who all contributed something), and the parents, and the fans and the community, and the administration, and the Coaches, and the Alumni, and a multitude of other people and reasons. Every single person involved should feel very, very proud of what they've accomplished thus far and most other programs should at least appreciate and aspire to these accomplishments against the odds. I truly hope everyone will finally understand this and let it rest but I know the debate will go on and that's why I started this thread, it frees up the 39th district thread to get back to the matters at hand and history can be debated here but not the facts. These TEAMS are collectively, Augusta's "Unforgettables"::clap:

THIS......I remember when their regular season home games were a tough ticket.

Our kids play hard and smart TEAM basketball. They've improved greatly in blocking out (a totally lost art in current basketball) and play hard nosed defense. Very proud of this group of young men.

List me as too old to learn and no desire but I appreciate the offer......
