Russell beat Augusta 72-69. I think that was the final score but it was a good game. Augusta lead most of the game but their inexperience showed at the end with some turnovers. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they played this early.

I'll add this: If that player is out there in KY his best opportunity of getting to UK is transferring to a prep school ala DeAngelo Russell........Cal doesn't look too hard in KY for one and dones.

Well, in that case, I'll have to get back to you at a later date............probably much later. Like maybe when that really hot place we all don't want to go freezes over.

Walk-on or scholarship?

I know this isn't popular with some on here but I personally think the player's impact on his team's performance is the determining factor for me. Is he a good teammate? Does he make his team better? Is he a leader by example? Does he step up at the end of close games? Humble and credits TEAM for wins. Role model? Does he mentor the younger players rather than criticize or belittle them? Of course, I'm "old school".

Unbelievable. Great for CCH. Truly a legendary program and Coach. A tremendous honor for these young men. I hope someone explains the history to them so they understand.

When I'm not at Knights Hall or on the road with Bellarmine, you can find me at the Panther's Den in Augusta. If you're a "Hoosiers" movie fan you should drop by Augusta. One of the classic "old" gyms in the state. I also like to attend games at the MCHS Fieldhouse when the opportunity presents itself.

Definitely worth the trip. It's a "crazy" place to play.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know much about them other than the Allen kid. Keaton will have them on track, of that, I'm certain.

It seems I say this every year but it has proven to be true: tremendous talent but they've had difficulty turning that into consistent, success. Especially in tournament situations but I believe they're the class A favorite and could be a real threat to win it and the region if they can create a team from all their individual talent.

I expect them to be better than most people think. I really like Levi Dunaway and I also expect the "team" persona will be significantly better than it has been in recent years. I expect them to win the 39th.

They are and they're both very dedicated. I expect both to start and improve game to game for the next 4 years. Both great kids and students and are very Coachable.

No offense guys. I shouldn't have put my thoughts on this thread. Had nothing to do with this kid. It was a general comment about recruiting and being " connected".

A lot of this recruiting is like life........who you know! Don't know the kid and never saw him play so not casting aspersions toward him just a blanket, factual statement.

Unbelievable. So sad to see. Always appeared to be be a very upstanding person.

Terrific thread. I certainly don't know everyone on this list but interesting to note the few I do know personally, Chris O'Hearn and Allen Feldhaus, Jr. are absolutely "class acts" as educators, parents and community role models also. I suspect that might hold true for the entire list. Coincidence? I think not.

This recruiting is a fickle game. Coaches will offer multiple kids at the same position for instance in the hope of getting that one recruit they really want but should he commit to another school they will ramp up recruiting of their #2 or #3 options. Also, you must remember that an offer to play may be extended but it may not necessarily be a scholarship offer. Confused yet? Then also from the player side a verbal commit isn't binding so they could change their mind. Nobody on either side is bound until you sign an LOI and Financial Agreement, then as a recruit, you're golden but then the school has certainty too. My advice is if you have a school who's actively recruiting you and they're offering you a scholarship, investigate the school and coaches from your perspective and if you are happ, sign the LOI and Financial Agreement at the earliest possible date. Don't play poker unless you have multiple schools actively recruiting you hard. Also, if your best offer is NKU (no offense to NKU) don't hold your breath waiting on UK or Duke to make their offer. Bottom line, investigate the school and Coaches (obvious criteria of academic fit, style of play, depth at your position, etc) but if you like what you see take a "free ride" at your earliest opportunity.

Big money can be made in this game of rankings, AAU teams & tournaments, training, etc. Rick Bolus, Dave Bones, and Eddie Ford were, and to some extent still are, the originators in KY. Everybody's kid is the second coming of Michael Jordan........until they aren't and that creates demand for these services.

Levi Dunaway played really well post season so I'd expect him to improve over the Summer and I think the overall chemistry of the team will be much improved.
