I think the verdicts still out on E'Town.. Beating up a couple of weak teams doesn't do too much in building your reputation. I think winning vs N.Oldham would definitely help out their rep.. With that said, N.Oldham is a proven commodity, being a fluke play away from being in the state title game last year. I think they'll likely be the deeper team and should come out on top in this one...NO 27 ET 21

I don't see this one being close. Ballard is highly overrated and shouldn't be sniffing a Top 10 ranking in 6a.. They may be Top 15, at best.. I see Desales winning this one by 3 or more scores..

Fern Creek has some good looking athletes and dress a lot of kids. They could be a scary matchup for someone in the 5a playoffs. Not sure they don't deserve a Top 10 ranking already.

This will be a great game to see where these 2 teams really stand in the big picture of 6a football this year.

Not sure they wouldn't be #1 . Who's been more impressive than Pikeville in the 1st 2 weeks and if Paintsville manages to beat them, who'd have been more impressive than them?

Looks like Christian still having same defensive issues it had last year. I am surprised they were held to 2 scores. Says a lot about the Purples defense, imo. CC better get the D straightened out or they won't go very far in the playoffs. I chalk up the offensive woes to a strong D. I think CC will be okay there.

Manual wasn't very impressive this week and Central was beaten by a Knox team who lost by a ton the week before. It tells me that Central is not at their normal level and are likely behind several other 3a teams right now. Boyle's win was impressive vs CH, who, imo, could play toe to toe with Manual.. PTs win vs McCracken looks better after this weeks big McCracken win over W.Central. The loss to CH was expected and they were competitive for 3 quarters before CHs size and depth got the better of them. IMO, Corbin has had 2 solid wins and look like they deserve to be in the conversation, at least, with the other top teams. Caldwell also made a big statement by handily beating a Top 5 4a team. Also, a 2 point loss to a strong Christian Co team, where they had a real possibility to win, also doesn't look bad, at all. Bell Co has an opportunity to get in the conversation, as well, with a win over Boyle today. 3a is really going to be a dog fight for whoever comes out of it.

I figured it was just a matter of time before Caldwell would get some respect. Don't think many people thought they'd sustain the level they've played at the past 4 years with Sindelar, but, they've built a solid program that's bigger than just one player. They always have solid middle school, freshman and JV teams, so, their feeder programs are strong and they should continue being a factor on an annual basis.

Marshall gets the ball at their own 19 yard line to start their next drive with 1:26 to go in the 1st quarter.

Arnett hits Bright for a 15 yard score, PAT is no good, but, they still go up 20-0.. That's 3 TDs for Bright here in the 1st quarter. If I'm not mistaken, Arnett hasn't thrown an incompletion yet.

The Marshalls fumble on their next possession, giving the Cards good field position at the Marshalls 22. 2 plays later, Bright takes it in from 4 yards out, followed by a good PAT.. 6:13 remaining in 1st qtr, 14-0 Mayfield leading.

Mayfield scores with 7:28 left in the 1st quarter on a 3 yard scamper by Bright. The PAT was good, 7-0 Cardinals. The big play on the drive was a 30 yard strike from Arnett to Kennemore that gave the Cards a 1st and goal at the 3 yard line. Bright scored 2 plays later.

2 plays later, Colby Tucker returns the favor with a Cardinal interception and has the ball in Marshall territory at the 48 yard line.

The Cardinals pick up a 1st down but Marshall gets an interception at there own 22.
