I've had Paintsville at #1 for the last 3 or 4 weeks.. I'm not sure why they'd have to blow out Fairview & Raceland to get to #1, since both are highly ranked.. Not sure if Paintsville does take over the top spot that Beechwood could retake it with a win over NCC. They would be favored and who has NCC beaten? IMO, beating the Rams & Fairview would be more impressive than a single win over NCC

Me either, Rookie. I think they have the skill kids a plenty and are solid on defense at the LB and DB positions, but, they're going to have to improve in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Getting Bright back will help, but, Tyler proved last week and Caldwell this week, that they can get the job done. That's not where they're getting beat. Arnett hasn't been nearly as accurate passing the ball the past 3-4 weeks as he was early in the season, where he was hitting on everything and about an 80% clip. He needs to get back to where he was early and the line's going to have to give him some time to throw it. The good thing is, they get a much needed off week next week to get over the bumps and bruises and then have 2 teams they should have no trouble with to find there footing and get back on track. Hopefully those things will get them over the hump and they can, once again, make it back to Bowling Green. I have confidence that this coaching staff will have them hitting on all cylinders when it counts. Will that be enough, who knows. Only time will tell.

Murray dominated the 1st half everywhere except the scoreboard.. Mayfield outplayed the Tigers in the 2nd half, not to the degree that Murray outplayed them in the 1st, but, did have a great opening drive to get the lead and held Murray's vaunted rushing attack in check. The Cardinals also had another TD called back on a penalty and managed another field goal for the final 10 point lead. Murray made a few nice plays in the 2nd half, but, for the most part, the Cardinals defense played well. Things got very chippy towards the end of the game and a couple of times, it got close to breaking into something ugly. Luckily, both teams managed to keep their composure and didn't let things get too out of hand. However, you can bet, if these 2 teams meet again in the playoffs, it'll be another war and the Tigers will have a chip on their shoulders.

While they only managed 1 score, they were able to pick up several 1st downs and keep Mayfield's offense off the field. The Card's had a total of 3 offensive plays in the 1st quarter. The majority of the half was played on the Cardinal end of the field.

Mayfield very fortunate to be tied as Murray controlled the ball the majority of the half and held Mayfield to 1 1st half 1st down. The Cards got a break as a high snap over the Tiger QBs head was recovered by the Cards inside the 20 yard line where they were finally able to put a score on the board. Other than that play and the scoreboard, it's been pretty one-sided the Tigers way. Mayfield will get the ball 1st to start the 2nd half.

IMO, Slusher's a great HS FB player, but, I don't see him as SEC caliber.. He could play in the OVC and do well and maybe even a MAC type school, which isn't bad at all, I just think he'd get recruited over at Tennessee and never see the field, except maybe special teams his Jr and Sr years.

The OB Cath loss to Owensboro in a close game isn't a bad loss, however, the loss to Daviess Co is a bad loss, especially after seeing what McCracken Co did to them. I don't think Mayfield, Desales, NCC, Danville or CAL has a bad loss, while all of them with exception to NCC have at least 1 or 2 quality wins. CAL doesn't have a win over a ranked team, but, I'd give them a pass with a win over 6a Eastern. Worst losses are Murray to Graves, OB Cath to Daviess, LCA to Walton Verona.
