Brian Sandlin and I go way back and I have seen a lot of games this year. He has officiated a couple of the games that I have seen. He is easily the best in the 9th. I think there are many officials in the 9th that do not work their feet to be in great position to make calls, therefore many calls are made from emotion and many are made before the play has a chance to complete. Very frustrating to watch. It is especially frustrating to watch the two man crews for the younger ages. Many of those officials are out of shape and cannot keep up with the athletes on the court. Brutal officiating.

Sorry to reply to my own thread but thought I would clarify something. I am not predicting how anyone will finish, just saying that Ryle has some great young athletes that are ready to make an impact. Skill athletes are not Ryle's biggest worry as a team. Ryle does have a very challenging schedule early on but will be one of the areas best teams.

We got em! You will see this year.

I don't know what you were watching but the England boy from Union was the best player on the field. Take away the 8th graders and Union beats that team soundly. Should have beat them with the 8th graders. You can also slant the story any way that you want but 8th graders versus 7th graders are a big difference. 10 8th graders is 10 more than Union had. Highlands had a pretty nice team. Good luck

The Union Raiders were all 7th graders and had a 1st and goal from the one with a chance to go up 18/20 - 6 towards the end of the 3rd quarter against mostly 8th grade Highlands kids. Unfortunately they almost fumbled on the next play and lost yardage and eventually turned the ball over on the drive. They work extremely hard every day and are great kids. They have had a great season so far and will begin the 7th grade state playoffs next Saturday @ Ryle against an always tough Elkhorn team out of Frankfort.

You blue boys always slant the story in your favor, even in defeat. Pretty funny. Cole only completed a few passes that night because Ryle was better at the skills spots and covered their receivers. They were better.

I am simply saying that they did not attempt to throw the ball much at all but rather used a very conservative game plan that night. If they would have chosen to throw the ball more, they would have scored much more. It is that simple. I am not in any way trying to take away from the CCH players. Anyone that saw both teams could see that Ryle had skill players last year that CCH could not match. You can not say that very often about CCH, but it was absolutely true last year at that level. So, the statement was not untrue or stupid, it is a fact. I am sorry that the truth hurts in this case.

It was a great game and both teams did play their tails off. I dont think that Ryle held back as far as effort. CCH was a great team! Cole did have time to throw on occasions and their receivers were covered. Have to give credit where it is due. I know it was a hard pill to swallow but Ryle skill players were better, including their receivers, corners, and QB. I am not taking away from CCH players at all but our kids could have scored much more points if we would have used the entire playbook. CCH corners were giving about a 10-12 yard cushion on many of the formations and Ryle was content with running the football and the clock. Look at the film. It does not lie. I guess you are so knowledgeable that you are the authority on who knows football and who does not.

No, not just a fan and they absolutely did not let it loose. They did not throw to their receivers all night until they had to and CCH could not cover them. They could have scored much more if they would have thrown the ball. They played a very conservative game that night. On the flip side, Ryle's corners were better than CCH receivers, plain and simple. CVH had no where to throw the ball. CCH was a very nice team but Ryle was easily better last year.

No team last year @ the freshman level was close all year except for the championship game. The offense was very conservative that night as they beat CCH by 3 TD's a couple weeks before that night. If they would have let it loose, they would have scored as many as they wanted. They scored something like 450 points and their opponents scored about 50 on the season, so I would say dismantling is a closer discription than just "good". Plantman must not have seen them play.

This is correct. I was a coach in the BCPFL for a few years and went to many of meetings. I voiced my opinion many of times that the league should divide up to where you live and each grade should have their own teams to maximize playing time. Many of the coaches in the room would not hear of it. One of the higher ranking league associates said it would be too hard to do that kind of thing. It was very frustrating. I stopped going to the meetings after that.

Spot on. Coach Whitaker probably has a hidden ball trick in his bag somewhere as well. College teams do this kind of thing all the time. It is not a bad thing or bush league to put a little fun in the game.

Great win and a great run by the Cougars! Looks like the 33rd District again proved to be the best district top to bottom. Great job by all of the 33rd for scheduling tough teams all year and for developing great players. Good luck down state Conner! A lot of great kids and great players on that roster!

I think this is a great point. If they are going to have a small school tourney, then I think the small schools should have to choose and not be able to do both.

What is considered an upset? I think that Conner is more talented than CCH right now so I would consider a CCH win as the upset. Dixie is pretty balanced and has some solid pitching but Highlands is not too far behind, so it is hard to say that game would produce a big upset.

Good win for the Colonels. Tough loss for the Rebels. Great game to watch. How about that frosh shortstop for Boone. He can flat play! Pretty tough to play ss and hit lead off as a frosh in that district but he excelled all year. Hats of to him as he made some nice plays last night! Great kid too!!

I don't think that many people give proper credit to the Boone County baseball district. It was easily the best overall district last year and may just be this year as well. Top to bottom, no easy out.
