My guess is that most will go to either Boone Co. or Conner. Thenyou will have your usual CCH and BW players that will decide to go to one of those schools. The Union Jags and Ryle already has their teams that will consist of the players going to those 2 schools and are no longer part of the BCPWFL

Last time we were involved in the league was several years ago. Back then there were six 7th and 8th grade combined teams. Each team with @25-30 kids on it.

I know the two Union teams as well as the CYF and Beechwood youth groups have bitten into that number. I have wondered how they are doing in terms of number of teams and numbers overall in that age group.

I also thought there was some movement to do away with the draft aspect and place kids on teams according to the High School district they live in. Hadn't heard whether that has actually happened or not either and if so, how successful it has been.

That was proposed several times and several years ago but for some reason the BCPWFL didn't want to go that route and that is exactly why the Union Raiders and Union Jags were formed. I never understood the reason not to go that route myself. It would of only helped the high school teams in the county which are already hampered by the closed district rules put in place but also would of made the BCPWFL even that much better. Talk about some great rivalries only made even better, could you imagine these kids playing against eachother for 6 straight years? Talk about great rivalries between the 4 schools!

I really think the BCPWFL missed the boat big time on that and now it's costing them big time.

Agreed. My complete guess is that the people against the idea of breaking down teams by High School district ( even if they did not want to admit it) were probably more concerned about fielding equally talented teams in the hopes of championships. ie: maybe a team in the Boone Co district has fewer less talented kids showing up than the Conner district team. Too bad the league could never get buy in from the High Schools on a closer affiliation.

Really, the way middle school teams are popping up, I wonder if they don't eventually do away with the Sr league (7th and 8th) and sink all their resources into 1st through 6th- which is where all the money (ie: bigger gate) comes from anyway.

True, but then where would the 7th and 8th graders play who aren't in Ryle or cooper's district? Really isn't fair to them. I think this unfortunately is one of those cases where the BCPWFL screwed the pooch and really can't fix it unless they decided to finally change things and make it school affiliated and brought Union Jags and Raiders back into the system and created 2 more teams to represent Boone co. and Conner. Anything else will simply not fix the problem.

With that said, the league would have to hope that the Jags and Raiders were willing to come back into their fold.

I'm just assuming that at some point, someone will create middle school programs for Conner and Boone Co too. I think Conner is closer to that being a possibility than Boone Co. though.

They are split up based on which high school they will attend. That was done a few years ago. They have added a organization that will feed NCC, the Thunder.

They are adding a second turf field this year that will be for the starters.

I love the facility they have. Always been great. Where will the starters field go? Behind the stands of the main field, or out front whern you first come in?

Hebron as a team also they are called the Bandits.

Yes and they are playing in the NKYFL. The NKYFL paid them about 6k to join their league, which is the same thing they did for the Union team.

And are all of the kids on the Bandits going to Conner?

I know some are.

I know some are.

If it's a Hebron team, like the Union Raiders & Union Jags were set up then they should all be going to Conner. If not, then it sounds like just another attempt to form a super star team.

The premise of both the Union teams and the Hebron team (NKY Bandits) being formed is because they wanted to have the kids who would be going to their respective HS's (Ryle, Cooper, and in the latter case Conner I presume) to play TOGETHER for not simply the 7th and 8th grade years but as early as Starters (i.e. 1st grade). Not sure what their direction is as of today but BCPWFL had previously dug it's heals in with their "drafting" of players process who would be moving up from midgets to jrs. and jrs. to srs. thus scattering out their players who otherwise could have been playing together.

Before the Union Raiders were formed, Coach Warner from Ryle came to the BCP'WFL and asked not once but twice that they do away with the draft at a minimum at the Sr. level and structure a forming of the teams to the 4 high schools. Coach Warner's ideas were strongly re-buffed and thus the creation of Union Raiders and subsequently the Union Jaguars. I can't speak for the new NKY Bandits but two Unon teams are running the schemes and terminology that are used by both Ryle and Cooper thus giving those players a jump start on the knowledge of their future HS teams as welll as playing with their teammates that they will play with through HS. It will take some time but learning the system early should prove to be very beneficial.
