It could be the best thing that could happen to both teams. Both have played in a lot of games recently. I know Boyle has some sickness and nagging injuries. Wayne is playing well right now but a rest might do them more good than an extra game against a tough opponent. Fresh legs coming into tournament play in any sport can make a big difference. I feel the Friday games will all be on and then we all can look forward to next week.

I liked the way Boyle fought back after being in a pretty deep hole. I don't think LC can complain about the officials. I thought they got every close call in the game. I think Bottoms and Price go overboard to show no favoritism to Boyle. The late clock wasn't the only change the officials made. Price made the 5 second call against LC clearly when they failed to get the ball in bounds late in the 4th and after the time out let the other ref talk him out of it. Boyle needs to protect the ball better after getting rebounds. They made several unforced turnovers which has been a pattern that will hurt them come tournament time.

It is a shame that Boyle doesn't have the basketball records available that they do for football.

Is there any type of official release that he is leaving as head coach at Mercer now?

There are times when you don't play your best and still win. WJ is a good team that is well coached and appeared to be more motivated than Boyle. WJ did have a shot to win in regulation but it was in the last second and hit the underside of the rim. Boyle did not take care of the ball all night, making some poor passes and bad decisions on others. After the near perfect game they had against Lincoln it might have been expected for them to not to have their A game . WJ can be a spoiler in this region and it would not be a huge upset for them to knock off any one of the so called big four in the tournament.

I thought Colton made an impact when he came into the game. Mercer had to adjust on their drives to the basket, even if he blocked two shots. The block he made on Hager late before he was hurt was big time. Sorry about the injuries, but it was a great game to watch. I thought it should have been a double digit win for Boyle if they make some better decisions with the situation just before halftime and a couple of times just running over people when there were other options. I thought the officials were fair, but missed some calls both ways. With a healthy Elkins and better decision making, I believe Boyle will make a run in the region. If teams guard Baughman, I don't see Mercer beating any of the top four in the region. Remember Mercer was playing at home in front of a fired up fan base against a Boyle team not at full strength.

I think it will be a very close game. With Mercer playing at home and Elkins just getting back can both play a role in this game. In relation to Coach Britt, I do feel that he would be a greater asset by being able to coach the B team. After watching some freshman and B team games, I feel that he could make a huge improvement in both teams. What is the deal with just 8 freshmen on the freshman team??

The reason that you don't see Elkins higher on the list is that in going for the blocks he is out of position to get a higher number of boards. This does open the lane up for Tyler and Bell both doing a good job on the boards.

What were the final stats? In replying to the comment made by Dick Whiskey, I don't see Danville beating the top teams in the region or even getting there for that matter. I thought Boyle played very poorly in the first and third quarters missing a bunch of easy shots for the game to even be close at that point. Hinkle gave them a spark in the 2nd quarter. I don't think Danville will get all of those open threes in the district.

I am sure Clay will be much better with Farmer back, but probably no better than Bryan Station, Cov. Cath.or even Appolo. Boyle played in a funk for much of the game but still had enough to win the game. They are still suffering from five games against top twenty teams in 5 days. That is really too much for any team to recover from in 4 days. I didn't feel that any of the players played up to their normal effort and at least 3 played out of control much of the night. Unforced turnovers, missed foul shots and being outhustled for rebounds and loose balls could have led to a loss. I feel they also may have relaxed a little the first half knowing that Farmer was not going to play. Tyler is still weak from having the flu and didn't have his normal game, although he did play better the 2nd half. I hope these two teams do get to play again in the state. That would answer all your questions.

Do you have any information on Corbin? Did they beat Knox Central last night in order to play Boyle?

The number one priority with the hire may be a good offensive line coach. There are people on staff that can make an improvement in the OC position. You only have a limited number of hire options in high school, because of the teaching positions and money available. If Chris Mason is to be missed, it would be as the offensive line coach, which he was very good at, not as OC.

Boyle has all the pieces for a great team and season. That being said ,they also have a very tough schedule. Fans can't get down if they lose a few games. This schedule should make them very tough when tournament time comes around. We will need this, because the 12th Region this year will be as competitive as any region in the state.

No contest. Boyle's starters played a little over half the game. Boyie's starting center Colton Elkins didn't play. I think Boyle played 14 players and they all got several minutes. This is going to be a fun team to watch. They really play tough defense and have the ability to score quickly. Tyler, Bell and Elkins could start for anyone, plus they have some other very good role players, Bean being one that deserves mention as well.

Picking Boyle by 30. Just anxious to see this team for the first time this year.

Remember that if Boyle hires someone from outside the system that there must be a teaching position available. I am sure that Chuck would want his new OC to be available for spring practice. I think it would be difficult for Coach Pardue to give up the head job at Mercer to come back to Boyle as an assistant coach even if there was a teaching job available. I am sure that Chuck has his own plan of action and probably will never read a word of what we all have written. If he has, you can bet it would not have any bearing on a decision he will make.

Did it seem strange to anyone else that Boyle took the ball down to LC's 10 yd line using their 3 back set, then with a 1st down Mason goes to the 1 back pro set. No yardage , no points. Then with a 4th down and 2 on LC's 5 yd line he runs Robbins to the left out the one back pro set, no yardage no points. LC had not been able to stop Boyle's 3 back set all night. Did he think he was going to fool the opposing coaches? Brilliant play by Robbins could only bail him out some of the time, but not every time. Our players,fans and even our other coaches deserve better!
