Smith and Wolfe playing very well for Clay. Smith 12 pts, 2 blks, 2 stls, 4 reb. Wolfe 12 pts, 3 reb.

Elkins is a very nice player from Boyle. Really impressed with him.

Fouls 23 to 10 in favor of Boyle. Elkins is a really nice player. But these refs are horrible. Clay with farmer and on a neutral floor beats then double figures. IMO

Clay doesn't beat Boyle double figures on any floor IMO with or without Farmer.

Agree to disagree. Fouls where more than 2 to 1. Justify that. I felt like we was at Wayne county

Boyle has a nice team. Don't get me wrong. But Clay's missing 2 of there top 6 and the foul calls. No way this team beats Clay at full strength. I will say this Boyles coach made very nice adjustments at half to make someone other than Smith beat them.

On way home will have some stats shortly. With Farmer I think it would come down to the last shot. Fouls were big against Clay but it was the same at Clay when Boyle went there. I have not seen a team that can make the mid range jumper as good as Clay does. If you let them get to the middle they will not miss. You can see why they are the the top team in there region. Nice looking team.

What's the final so we can move this one to a thread that will stay open?

Sounds like a great game between two good teams. Hats off to Boyle County on getting the victory, especially after a tough week in Lexington. Also sounds like Clay County hung in there with Smith and Wolfe doing their thing, and we don't live in a vacuum so you can't really say "if Clay County had Farmer" even though you can't help but think that he'd have made a difference.

I won't comment on officiating because I wasn't there, but hope this one stays civil because I really like hearing about both teams, and I'm not so naive to think that when a Clay County team is up, that it's not tough to beat them at their place either.

Sounded like some questionable officiating from the update thread. Close game without Farmer for Clay. Who were the three 12th region refs?

I am sure Clay will be much better with Farmer back, but probably no better than Bryan Station, Cov. Cath.or even Appolo. Boyle played in a funk for much of the game but still had enough to win the game. They are still suffering from five games against top twenty teams in 5 days. That is really too much for any team to recover from in 4 days. I didn't feel that any of the players played up to their normal effort and at least 3 played out of control much of the night. Unforced turnovers, missed foul shots and being outhustled for rebounds and loose balls could have led to a loss. I feel they also may have relaxed a little the first half knowing that Farmer was not going to play. Tyler is still weak from having the flu and didn't have his normal game, although he did play better the 2nd half. I hope these two teams do get to play again in the state. That would answer all your questions.

They officiated a lot like the Boyle/Corbin but we were in Corbins spot and Clay was in ours

Having very briefly met both Coach Adams and Coach Marcum, both have came off as class individuals, so I don't want to short-change either of their programs because neither really seems like the type of competitor who wants to take it from you, they'd rather prepare their team to beat you and not leave any doubt.

I obviously wasn't there, but I'm not too keen on saying that it was anything more than a solid game between two good teams that I'm going to reserve judgment on. Life on the road when you go out of region and face one of the State's best isn't supposed to be easy, but you play these games to get better for the time down the road when the stakes intensify.

Sounds like Boyle's Elkins was a man yet again and that Smith and Wolfe both had solid games for Clay County.

Would like to see these two go at it again in Rupp with both at full strength and will be rooting for each to get there for another duel. I'll even splurge and say that I'll go as far as to buy PP92 and Randy an ice cream if it's in the State Finals.
