This season is the best opportunity that Coach Steve Adams has had to win a 12th Region title at Boyle County. This Boyle County team returns 3 starters from last season's 12th Region semifinalist team and is led by NKU commit senior Hagen Tyler who averaged around 24 points a game last year. Human shot eraser, junior Colton Elkins returns to man the paint. Defensive specialist and underrated shooter senior Chapman Bean returns as well to round out the 3 returning starters. These 3 players are going to be counted on heavily this season as they all have the most experience on the team when it comes to running the offense, playing the defense that is expected of them and being leaders on the team.

Senior point guard Jeremiah Bell moved to the Boyle County area in June and was ruled eligible by the KHSAA in July and after a short investigation recently his eligiblity was upheld by the KHSAA. Jeremiah Bell brings an athleticism to the point guard position that Boyle County hasn't had before. His ability to push the ball should add a different dimension to the Boyle County offense on a team that is the most talented team offensively that Coach Adams has had. Jeremiah also brings a leadership quality to the team that exudes a confidence that is contagious for all who get near him. He will bring a toughness and bulldog attitude that this team needed.

Seniors Tristin Bell, Keagan Hinkle and Zach Leigh will also be counted on heavily in different ways. Bell and Hinkle are two experienced guards and Hinkle has been a starter for Boyle County in the past. T. Bell's game is continuing to improve every time he hits the court and I expect him to be a big contributor on the team this year whether he is starting or coming off the bench. Hinkle and Leigh are currently playing football and will not be joining the basketball team until the football season is complete. Leigh served as a backup to Elkins last season and will likely serve that role again this season. Leigh provided some valuable minutes and quality play last year and I expect him to improve upon that this season. Hinkle started some last season and has been known to get hot from the 3 point line and score points in bunches. These 3 players will be counted on in a variety of ways and I have no doubt in my mind that they can and will help propel this team to region champions.

The junior class will be looking brand new as word on the street is that Josiah Robbins and Mack Cox will not be joining the team this season. Jase Sharp, Nick Settles, Cole Stewart, Nick Roney, Colton McGlone, Logan Walls and newcomer Dario Delcastillo all look to add depth to the roster this season. A large junior class will be key to the current and future success of Rebels basketball.

The sophomore class has Dylan Frederick, Evan Shields and Hunter Jefferies in it. Those three look to be vital pieces on the junior varsity team this season. Frederick and Shields provide height and Jefferies can provide a nice scoring punch.

The freshman class is a large class like the junior class and a few will join the junior varsity team. Newcomers Bryce Slone and Tristen Helton join Matthew Bodner, Baby J, Logan Lynch, Will Bramel, Zack Hodge, Nate Smith, Daniel Notter and Will Gibson. This group shows some promise and I look forward to following their growth.

I say "This is our year!!!!" because this is our year. A huge opportunity is here for this year's team to not only win the 12th Region but also to make some noise at the state tournament. This team has 6 seniors on it ready to lead and make a statement regarding their legacy at Boyle County High School. We have a proven scorer in Hagen Tyler. We have a strong inside presence with Colton Elkins, Zach Leigh. We have strong guard play with J. Bell, T. Bell and Hinkle. We have a strong junior class with Sharp, Settles and Delcastillo that will provide depth at the varsity level and push the team in practice everyday to get better. We have a good group of youngsters that will push the juniors and seniors to get better in practice everyday as well. The most important thing will be maintaining great chemistry all year long and buying in to Coach Adams. One thing that is non-negotiable is playing defense and if you don't play defense properly you won't play. While this team has more offensive firepower than any team Coach Adams has had at Boyle County it is still defense that will determine how far this team goes. The Rebels have a strong schedule this season and by the time tournament rolls around they should be a very seasoned team.

How did the scrimmage go at Paris yesterday?

Okay. We weren't at full strength and it didn't look like many from the Paris varsity team dressed either. I didn't keep score but heard overall it was something like 66-43 Rebels. Not sure though and without both teams being at full strength it's hard to have a thorough analysis from it.

Very excited for this season. This team has a chance to be special!! Bell Is going to bring speed and athleticism that Boyle has never had at the PG position and will be able to match up with any other PG we will face all year . What has stood out to me about Bell from what I have seen this preseason is his leadership. Always talking, always encouraging, always pushing. Love to see that. Him and Hagen in the same backcourt is going to be dynamite. Get your popcorn ready bc they are going to put on a show. You already know what your going to get from Hagen. I wouldn't be suprised to see him up his ppg this year and average close to 30 a game and be one of the leaders in the state in scoring and FT %. He has grown over the off season and added muscle so look for a monster year from him. Colton Elkins has also added muscle over off season and I look for him to have a huge year. There's not a better shot blocker in the state of KY IMO. From what I have heard and saw he has been working some out on the perimeter on his ball skills, passing, and jump shot. Look for Elkins to average a double double this year. Mr. Glue guy Chapmen Bean is what holds this team together. Really love this kid. He plays hard, does all the dirty work, can hit the 3, rebound, and will lock you up on defense. I think Tristan Bell will emerge and have a solid season. He plays hard and can provide some scoring. Keagen Hinkle, Zach Leigh and the Settles kid will be looked upon to provide quality minutes off the bench. If Josiah Robbins doesn't play that will hurt some bc he would have likely been the 5th starter. Like PP has said, this is OUR YEAR!!!! But until somebody knocks off Wayne CO they are still the favorites

Another out of county transfer or two and you should be proud of what you didn't produce locally.

We are very proud. Once you enter the hallways of a Boyle County school you become a part of the Rebel family.

that's right. Once a Rebel always a Rebel. Haters gonna hate. Just that much sweeter when we shut them up.

Agree 1000%. You just can't explain it to people that haven't experienced it.
