Congrats to Sam and our Rossford Park buddy Jacob! I am so glad all those hours chasing the ball down the rocks and bushes into your yard paid off!

All I know is this is a weak 9th region compared to past years. It is absent of stars and one of best players in the 9th is Big Ben. You have to get out of districts and should get a game in the regional; otherwise next year you return back to the squad that battles to get to 500. Throw in that a few ex birds played for NewCath last night and you begin to wonder why kids are leaving or do you? Bird have flown to NC, Silver Grove, among others. Trust what process?

I would hope so as a the Birds are Senior dominant and played a young NewCath squad that has freshmen and sophomores as varsity contributors. If you don’t get at of the district this year, change should be coming.

Cooper is the real deal! I have been fortunate to catch a game or two and Sully just does a great job getting them to buy team concept with emphasis on defense. CCH next should be a great game! I stil believe those two will be playing for the 9th region crown as I stated in the preview. The rest are imposters. BW still gets a mention the rest has joined the ranks of mediocrity.

You don’t have to convince me, been on the other end too many times. Hopefully you can take it to the other fish eaters. 36th battle could get interesting.

Those are some ugly stats. I haven’t seen numbers like that from the blue colonels in forever.

If CCH doesn’t take it by double digits; we will have an interesting 9th. NCC will play hard but they are at least a year away. I don’t anticipate being that close.

I know Dante well and my Son played AAU ball with him. He stirred the drink and superb defensive player but he was on a very good squad and played a defined role. 9th is Senior heavy and competitive which makes it fun. A state champ is not coming from the 9th. In the past years that statement could not be said. IMO the 9th is down period. The coaches know as well.

Let’s reset expectations. Time to make regionals is this year. If you look across the 9th and see the young varsity contributors and what HHS coming back that is a very bold statement IMO

7 of the 9 Seniors and 2 of 3 Juniors and Vinson plays football as well.

9th region is down. Cooper is the front runner! Sullivan can coach and the region is absent superstar talent at least in the senior class. Sisson is having a great season but that is a weak class. Senior squads and team ball will win the region and my bet will be on the coaches that have been there before at the end. I am going with Cooper and a drop CCH and Newport and a drop HHS and BW and the best of the rest. 9th will be competitive but it is void of talent. There is no Weyer, McNeill, Frederick Kunkle etc. Not only were those kids good but they had skilled help. Look at CCH shooting, Highlands when Sisson is in foul trouble or hack attack choose to foul any shooter other than Vinson from the foul line and employ a half court offense on Newport. Muscle on BW. Again a lot of weaknesses exposed. I like Sullivan to exploit that and I am certain the blue colonels will be much better at the end.

I did not want to threadjack;but this was mentioned on another thread and I definitely agree. 9th is really down this year and void of superstar talent. It could be very interesting. There are no Frederick, Kunklle, Weyer, McNeil, Vonhondorf, etc. You have some young potential super talent. IMO it is going to come down to the squad that works the team concept.

Also want to give a shout out to the new principal and athletic director who have made a concerted effort to get the student body involved whether it be an athletic event or a band competition. That gym was "electric" last night and the team responded to the energy. A post in this forum that I can agree with! The principal and athletic director were home run hires! Both individuals put the students and athletes first. Let that resonate for a minute!

I am sure hoping HHS will be competitive! I agree the offense will need to change the look. They did not change from the 3-5 format on defense at Scott County and it ended exactly how it should. If they don’t use two back sets, counter and jet it is going to be lopsided and they are not going to move the chains! For the love of the defense please look to get outside the tackles or at least the threat too. Inside slants will not work better bubble screen or have TE hold and block and drag!!!! The offensive scheme Eddie’s squad will feast! Highlands defense will make a game effort but they have to get off the field and their offense has at least sustain a drive or two!

Would agree on the wideouts they had speed and nice routes. A couple of drops but that can get cleaned up. To be honest they certainly played better than record. Consistent two halves would result in a Win or two!

Conner scored to win I believe within the last minute. Their skilled players did well. QB threw a nice ball. A small but feisty WR and some big backs. Conner had a smaller squad but had talent. HHS defense strong but at times DB’s were lost. Richter had a great game for the birds.

Dixie QB had an impressive arm, he also ran the ball well! Didn’t care for the shoes but you could spot him on the field. He dropped a few nice long passes in great spots. Dixie run and pass defense bad and it looked like HHS was working on a couple of things. After the half it was what I expected. Dixie played hard for first half.

I am not sure what you are getting at? Was there a post in this forum? I agree that the fresh game between HHS and BW was very tight. BW has a very good squad! I hope this one is tight as well.

Lastly young Mason South I see you with your special team tackles. The future is very bright mark my words.

My oldest took a friend from a neighboring state and the kid said this was like Friday Night Lights with a cannon, jumbo tron and a college band! OU was awesome and how neat of a performance. Huddleston did his thing but Hagedorn is really starting to shine. The defense in general great job. I too was impressed with Courtney! SK run defense is really solid! Shout out to Hollingsworth tonight a nice glimpse to the future, keep working hard you look ready for the keys.

Drag route what is that? TE hold a block and release never mind? Two back set if you heard me in the stands!! Read my past thoughts. If you can’t pretend to get the edge with Buten in a pitch or jet. Coop doesn’t stand a chance. Go into this against Eddie and the clock runs tick tick!

Foster does it all on both sides of the ball. Will be a fun player to watch over the next 3 years!
