Final

[h=3]Simon Kenton/Highlands Updates[/h]

Congratulations to the Bluebirds, figured this would be closer before the game was played.

Beat. Down.

This is what happens when you actually play somebody.

Highlands back on track.

Highlands back on track.

Pump the brakes. I wouldn’t say that yet, but they do appear to be heading back that way.

Highlands back on track.

The defense yes the offense no.

Hard hitting game, hope the injured guys all recover quickly.

The defense yes the offense no.

Really? How many points did the D score?

Them 'Birds looking like them 'Birds! They looked pretty good against an undefeated 6A team. Defense is for real, they swarm to the ball and don't make many mistakes. SK got some big yards from the QB run early but they adjusted and SK's offense turned into a ghost.

Highlands offense seems to go for the deep ball about every-other play. I don't know if that is part of the strategy of winning a game like that or not. I prefer the short pass plays and running with the two back set.

As a HHS grad and fan, I guess it is a good thing that HHS beat an undefeated team 38-9 and I came away disappointed. The defense played very well but the offense was frankly terrible. A special teams score, a defensive score, an offensive score when a bad snap on a punt gave HHS a very short field accounted for most of HHS' scoring. I left with 4 min to go and it was 31-7 so I don't know how the last scores were made but it was garbage time anyway.

Simon Kenton did a lot of good things on D - really stuffed the HHS running game and sacked Cramer many times. I was shocked at how bad a passer the SK QB was. He is a good runner and plays hard and I hope he is OK as he was knocked out of the game in the second half. Also, the SK special teams unit had a brutal night.

The Ohio University band was AWESOME. Very fun to watch!

Hollingsworth looked good in his series at QB in the 3rd quarter. Should be a confidence booster for him, and the rest of the team.

I thought Highlands looked pretty impressive tonight.

Congrats Birds on a nice win!

About what I figured. Thought it might have been a little closer. It sounded like Highlands pretty much dominated this one.

SK stats:

Sergent 14 carries 75 yards and 2 catches 17 yards

Kaiser 4 catches 14 yards

JJ Courtney 2 sacks
