Really good game minus the fact that NCC had 4 players (3 starters)foul out and another with 4.

Free throw shooting for both teams was poor.

Highlands played tough and Sisson was a beast. Also had timely 3’s in 3rd quarter when NCC went zone.

Highlands had trouble stopping Howard who had around 25 - he was impressive tonight inside and out.

This district is going to be fun.

I came late and ended up behind the PA guy. Total fouls for the game were 56. Highlands missed 20 FTs according to their stay guy. Couldn’t tell me how many NewCath missed but it was slit as well. Didn’t think the game was physical enough to have that many fouls called but it was aggressive and entertaining through 3 quarters

When was the last time Highlands defeated NCC in basketball?

G. Mike says the last time was January 2010. So..... a loooong time.

This is obvious, but Highlands has really improved. They have gone from dropping district games against Bellevue to competing with the better teams in the region.

If you believe that, then you weren't focused on the defense being applied to Sisson in the post.

You truly believe there should’ve been 56 fouls called in this game?

I’m sure I’ve seen about 1/10th percent of games that others on here have, but to me, the casual observer it seemed to much. It was physical but nothing in my opinion that should’ve necessitated 56 fouls and three players fouling out.

Again if you only focused on the defense being applied to Sisson, your conclusion should be that Salter, Mullikin, or anyone else trying to defend the kid got their moneys worth in fouls committed. :D

I would hope so as a the Birds are Senior dominant and played a young NewCath squad that has freshmen and sophomores as varsity contributors. If you don’t get at of the district this year, change should be coming.

NCC isn't that young. They are a junior dominant team with their top 3 players all being juniors. They get some contribution from the two frosh, but those two are certainly not key contributors.

What do you mean by change should be coming? Like a coaching change? Listen Highlands is made up of the good ole Boys club right now with Football, Baseball & Basketball. None of those Coaches are going anywhere anytime soon. As long as participation is up and the School spirit is high the tenure's of those three coaches are untouchable. So get use to watching each sport and how they're being ran. Even if it means at the expense of the Student Athlete. Cause it isn't about to change anytime soon. The entire culture has changed with Sports in Fort Thomas. Sorry if I left out any other sport at Highlands but it applies across the board. The politics are Bye Bye.

All I know is this is a weak 9th region compared to past years. It is absent of stars and one of best players in the 9th is Big Ben. You have to get out of districts and should get a game in the regional; otherwise next year you return back to the squad that battles to get to 500. Throw in that a few ex birds played for NewCath last night and you begin to wonder why kids are leaving or do you? Bird have flown to NC, Silver Grove, among others. Trust what process?

The game was physical but not to the point of 56 fouls .... Sisson definitely played through a lot of contact but 56 fouls is a ton.

Breds are JR driven team but young in the sense that besides Jefferson - no one has played more than 18 Varsity games (all this season). I thought this game on the Birds floor went the way you would expect / the experienced home team grinding out a victory. But make no mistake - this Breds team is projecting upwards - they have made huge strides in recent weeks. The district tourney will be a good one.

I also would not call this year a ‘weak region’. I actually think there are more competitive teams but it lacks a true clear state contender.
