Funny. My son said that before they boarded the bus to go down state... the players toured the halls of the elementary and every little kid wanted to touch Brett. Pretty cool.

I think any of the 3 from Beechwood could win this, but I have a hunch that Brayden Combs wins this. Haven't seen a kid, in any sport, that works harder. Luckily all of the young kids up there get to see him come and go with his dad and a bucket of balls everyday. They know what it takes.

Any updates on Brett?

Slow down? I think you read my post wrong, Quick. I got on this thread hoping to see Slusher as a finalist. His name was not on the list. I read through all of the candidates stats and wanted to see how Bretts stats compared. I went to KHSAA to see his stats and they are not listed. I cut and pasted exactly what I saw. My question is/was ... do the people making the decision about finalist use that information on that site and if they do, does the fact that there are no stats currently for Brett, on that site, hurt him. Thats it. Someone that seemed to be in the know said that the championship game stats are not reconciled and another said that he still would not have been a finalist. That said, I would love to see his final stats. Great season.

Before last year I would have thought that be unheard of .... kid asked to play up but declines for whatever reason. I know that Tye Houston (Woodland last year) was asked to move up at Scott but declined. I'm sure they are doing it for the right reason for them.

I've talked to a lot of dads that have sons that really good athletes and almost to a dad they say they cannot come on this site. People will always take jabs at the kid that is better than there kid.... and think it holds water. So, I don't want to know who you are. I'm sure we know each other and I'm sure we talk. That answers my question. Their stats were there all year, but just not after the championship game. So the people that make the choices, for POY would have seen his stats also.

It has to hurt a player if the school does not send their stats to KHSAA? I know that I'm bit of a homer here...but Brett Slushers stats are, I would guesss, very gawdy. However, none of Beechwoods stats were sent in or not listed on the state site. So, number 1: who votes these kids in?.... Do they refer to the stats listed on KHSAA? Lastly, why doesn't each school have to send their stats in?

I understand your stance, but we don't knock kids/parents for wanting to go to a better school for academics.... why would we do it for sports? Its based on priorities. People have different priorities.

I know this has been said a few times on here. Is this the reason why he was not moved up to freshman, jv or varsity. I've heard he can play and contribute at those levels.
