  1. I think you know the answer already, but it was D2. Does that change what you think? I think they won the D1 Ky State.
  2. Did you hear about Cord of Wood trying to get Dontae Allen to come to Beechwood?
  3. LOL. That kid is on everyones wish list. Dontae, if you are reading this.... come to Beechwood.
  4. They have both coached a lot of years in AAU. This same tandem coached the winning 14u boys National Championship team in Orlando this past summer. Trisha has coached both boys and girls for a number of years. Her girls team has made it to the National Championship twice. Troy has coached with the NKY Warriors team prior to joining with Trisha. They know basketball.
  5. Finally, someone asking a serious question and not whining.... Spencer Macke is projected and is a very good player. Nice shot from the outside and nice footwork around the basket and will be good size.... I'd say that he is a 4 for freshman ball and a 3 for varsity. Other players in the class are Ty Houston and Clay Coleman. They add a lot size and some good ole HC pedigree. I see two, or all, playing a lot of jv this year also.
  6. Well, you've taken the fun out of this haven't you? I'll just drink my coffee and get back to work.
  7. RC9, I wrote that last response before I read the part about you having a senior daughter. She play softball or basketball?
  8. Sure. If you really did have something.... I'll give it a read. I'm really having trouble trying to figure out if you are a parent or a coach. I can tell you are loyal to HHS, not HC. If you were a parent of a poor athlete then you wouldn't be angry at all that a better athlete has left... so if you are a parent then you are angry because your child is a good athlete and has lost a peer.?. If you are a coach then you would definitely be angry that you lost a good athlete and maybe have invested some time coaching this player. Now.... this same argument can be made for both the boys going to HC and the girls going to HC.... but you made the argument on a girls thread. So, you have a daughter that is a good athlete or you are currently coaching at HHS.?... It will come to me. Keep giving clues. I know that I'm making lite of this, but I think you are internalizing this way too much.
  9. Why would you bring a kid up just to play JV? I believe they only way that he will move up is if he could contribute on Varsity..... or if you need numbers and the birds probably don't need that.
  10. I know of two. Travon Mason and Anthony Hall. Travon is a smaller scamp type back and Hall is a taller stronger runner. Hall is very hard to bring down. He lines up in the full position and lone back set ups. I know that Travon is a freshmen, but not sure of Hall. Good tantum. They need a little help on the line and these two will be very good.
  11. I only ask because my sons last year in the Raiders org. (juniors) the Red Devils won the championship. Cain was the only boy I remember from that team. Jolly was the QB though. Was it in the recent past that at least half the red devil boys would go end up at New Cath and the rest to Campbell Cty?
  12. Should I have addressed my last response with 'Dear Mr or Mrs Castleman? lol.
  13. He does play. He played JV last year, at 2nd base.
  14. Somebody said Trinity has an opening! I would have to believe we would be the underdog... in a big way. Also, I agree B-paw.... Cov Cath is ahead of Highlands.
  15. Any updates on this? ... on the baseball side. I know that Brett is also getting offers on the football side.
  16. Had to chime in here. Catching takes tons of footwork. Look at any showcase... PBR comes to mind. They will list arm strength (MPH) from each position. A boy can have a very strong arm... lets say 82MPH from the crouch... you would think that would translate into a sub 2 pop time.. not necessarily. With poor footwork you can have that strong of an arm and have a 2.3 pop and kid with a 74mph throw with a 1.95 pop time (with sound footwork). See it all the time. .... and I won't even mention the footwork needed to block pitches. I've seen all of the catchers mentioned... and they would all be very nice varsity catchers. Go BW!
  17. Mullins tried to convert Bankemper into a second basemen last year and it did not pan out. He can pitch and he can hit the ball, but I feel, lacks any footwork and lateral speed to play anywhere in the middle; including and mostly catcher. You just do not convert kids to catcher at this age and expect them to play at a high level. BW will be fine with going with either Burch or Trusty. They have both played at a high level for years. Hitting at the varsity level may be their problems. In that case you put Bankemper in to PH for one of them. The real issue for the Tigers will not be behind the plate but up the middle. Last year Mullins tried, unsuccessfully, many combinations at ss and 2nd. Sadly, I believe there is not one natural middle infielder in the upper classmen. They may have to go to the Freshman Class for the ss. Wagner, a transfer, is a natural ss. Add Trevor Soard to 2nd and I think you may have it (both are left handed batters). Pitching and hitting will take care of itself. They only other issue is what do you do with Joey Sherron. Plays 1st (so does Combs) and that's it. He hits the ball very well but lacks a position.
  18. Bright spot for NCC is the Cain kid (#8), QB. Watched him a couple times this year and like the way he plays. He got a little frustrated tonight, which is understandable.... No blocking, dropped passes and snaps on the ground. I know that there is a middle school team for NCC, but are most of these kids coming from Ken Morgan and the Campbell Cty Red Devils organization?
  19. because by dropping down they can add some sophomores to their roster. You are thinking of as a competitive reason.... its not.... its a numbers reason.
  20. Prior to this game.... has Cov Cath moved up any of its Freshman players to Varsity? This score seems odd.
