Cooper vs Beechwood (Frosh)
Cooper almost looked stunned by Beechwood's passing game last time they met. I think Cooper is just deeper this year and for that reason will come out with the victory.

Cooper vs Beechwood (Frosh)
One question, with the chance of a muddy field, do you think this hurts Cooper or Beechwood more? Also, does anyone know the time of this game? I know it is Thursday, but what time? Thanks

Newport/Cooper predictions
The one positive that I can see from a distance is that Cooper, for the past 5 weeks, has been banging around with those HUGE 6A teams. Not a knock on Newport by any means, because I think they have a talented team, but it is nice to see Cooper playing against someone that is not bigger and deeper than the Jags. No prediction from me, just can't wait for Friday night and Senior night for Cooper!!!

Conner 28 Cooper 7
I have to disagree, I think the game was closer than the score shows. A few mental mistakes by Cooper cost them atleast 2 scores in my opinion. That fake punt called back hurt, and a 4th and inches with a false start also hurt. I think this game could have been a lot closer than the final and I think that it was closer. Conner was very flat, and I understand they were looking forward to the playoffs. But in the very near future, if they come out flat like that, it could be a long night for the Cougars. Got to get the kids ready to play every game like it is their last is the best way to treat high school games.

Cooper 34 Holmes 6 (Frosh)
Sorry if I said something that didn't sound right, I was in a hurry and probably didn't double check myself, but that is not what I meant. I meant that if you call him and be respectful and not demand answers and be rude that is more than cooperative with all who tries to contact him. I was simply stating that I have called him at his house before just to discuss things with him, meaning that he doesn't have a problem talking to a concerned parent, booster, etc. It is all about showing some respect, then you will get some in return. That is all I was implying, sorry for the confusion :thumb:

Cooper 34 Holmes 6 (Frosh)
Agree hja, I feel like some of the people that have been posting and complaining are expecting Coach Borchers to be some kind of a saint or something. He does the best he can to be attentive at every freshman function, but that is hard to do when he still has to coach a varsity football team, which is what high school football is all about. I hate to break it to anyone that is "die hard" about freshman football, but who cares? It is a gateway to varsity football, and getting these kids prepared. GOOD LUCK TONIGHT MINI JAGS (LOL JK) BRING US HOME A FRESHMAN CHAMPIONSHIP!:thumb:

Cooper 34 Holmes 6 (Frosh)
As a source very familiar with this situation, allow me to put my 2 cents in, and you can take it however you want too. I have been in contact with the majority of the varsity parents, and they have all had nothing but praise about the direction of this program. I do not know where you get your information, but please make sure you get all of the facts before you start bashing someone. Borchers does the best that he can to respond to anyone that calls/emails him. I have been in contact with him at his house, you just have to learn how to be respectable. What coach in their right mind wants to respond to a parent that is yelling and angry about something a coach has no control over? The whole thing with the freshman coaches...Coach Borchers told the freshman coaches they could stand on the track right behind the sidelines, but there was in issue when the freshman coaches were on the sidelines, get the details before you start into something that you have no idea about. Also, it is very hard to talk with/mingle with the freshman players/coaches when they do not even practice the same time that the varsity does. Coach Borchers 1st priority is too coach the VARSITY football team, so if that means that he can't make every single freshman game, well then sorry, but tell me a coach again that makes it to Thursday away games that start at 5:30 or 6:00? I have not been too a home freshman game yet this year that Coach Borchers hasn't been too. I know I can speak for some of the coaches that do speak to the freshman players every chance they get. Also, I know of a varsity assisstant coach that ran the freshman weights and conditioning in the off-season because the freshman coach hadn't changed his work schedule around so that he could be at the weights. The programs, ha, make sure you really find out all of the information about that before you bring that up. The parents and the administration are the one's involved in the program, and I think it was a very wise move for Coach Borchers not to get caught in the middle of whatever it is that was going on with the programs. And finally, as far as the kids not being coached to be successful on the varsity level, do you even know football? If you watch a game of Cooper's varsity this year, you will see the progress being made. Go watch a tape on one of their games last year. This coaching staff knows football, and loves the kids that they interact with. It is kind of funny to think that someone thinks they will not be coached to be successful, because why? Because Coach Borchers can't drop everything he is doing in his VERY busy schedule to make sure everything is in top shape for the freshman? That is why the freshman have their own coach, and they do interact with the varsity staff. My last question...why would any staff at Cooper be jealous of another staff? The freshman kids at Cooper will be playing varsity football next year, meaning they will be Coach Borchers kids. Why would anyone think he would be jealous of them doing well? That entire varsity staff is thrilled with the job that the freshman team has done this year and gets congratulated for it after every win. Hopefully next year those kids will take that winning swagger with them to the varsity level. Sorry, I know this is a long thread but these things needed to be said and these questions needed to be asked. Make sure you hear all sides of a story before you start "coach bashing." It is easy to hear what someone tells you without getting both sides of the story. I promise, Coach Borchers is not even a centimeter as bad of a guy as all of these "coach bashing" individuals make him out to be. Get the facts right, then you will see for yourself Coach Borchers is doing what any good coach would do in trying to build an amazing program!!!! GO JAGS...BEAT CONNER!!! :thumb:

Cooper 34 Holmes 6 (Frosh)
I think one player can help a team a great deal when he is the best fit for a position that you need on that team. Not to mention if a freshman is capable of playing on varsity, why not go ahead and play him that way another player doesn't have to go both ways like Cooper has to do?

Cooper 34 Holmes 6 (Frosh)
No offense, but I think it is time to jump off the Taylor Centers gig. The young man has been moved up and is contributing greatly to the varsity team, which is more important than the freshman games. Instead of talking about how bad the freshman miss him, I think it is about time to start giving some credit to the young man for making great strides. Not to mention, I don't think this year's freshman team is lacking without him in the game, there are plenty of other kids on that team to contribute.:thumb:

Ryle / Boone Predictions
I agree with you. I know in 6A you don't want your playmakers to have to go both ways...but when they are the best athletes on your team and the playoffs are rolling around it is all or nothing and they HAVE to be on the field IMO. The few times I saw Elliott on D against Conner he was giving West some fits! :thumb:

NKY Freshmen Playoff, Who & Where?
I am not real sure about Cooper's first round opponent, but I will tell you what I do know. Tonight, Monday, October 19 @ 6:00 pm Cooper Freshman play a regular season game against the Holmes Bulldogs that is being made up from a cancellation last week. I am pretty sure they locked up #1 on their side of things, and they take on Holy Cross this thursday at Cooper at 6:00pm. I hope this helps and I am pretty sure it is Holy Cross that they play thursday, but either way I do know they are at home this thursday for the playoff. :thumb:

Campbell County 28 Cooper 20
First half was ugly for the Jaguars. Still haven't been able to put 4 quarters together! The team is young, and it will come, but Cooper was about 3 inches from potentially tying the game at the end. A long pass by Bradley on 4th down was thrown a few inches short to Klute, and the Campbell DB made a good play never giving up on the ball and making a good play to seal the win! Proud of Cooper for the effort, but now they have to do that from the first snap of the game, and not the second half!

Campbell County 28 Cooper 20
I think I speak for most people involved in the Cooper organization when I say that in no way do the Jaguars want to practice in shorts all week, but there is not a lot you can do about that when you have so many players that go both ways, and play most special teams, and those players are banged up. Sure, you can always make them go into tackling drills all week long, but then you take the risk of them becoming a little better tacklers but watching the games from the sidelines because they are so banged up and get hurt in practice. Cooper just doesn't have the numbers quite yet to go in those full out tackling drills practice, but they will. Be patient, things will get better, they already have throughout the year. :thumb:

Ryle 31 Conner 22
I understand the frustration and worry for the player's safety, and wasn't at the game, but if it is just the D-Line diving toward the legs of Ryle, I do not see a problem with it. Like I said, I wasn't their so I do not know how they were diving at Ryle's O-Line, but it is a very strategic move in running situations if you give up size on the DL or are just simply getting blown off the ball. I've seen numerous coaches using that or "bear crawls." But if they were cheap shots then that is a little too much I think.:thumb:

Cooper vs Beechwood (Frosh)
I see what you are saying, this was discussed in a previous thread also. The decision was made in February based on last year's freshman team with a lack of knowledge as to how good this freshman team would be. After, with no offense to other teams, somewhat coasting through the freshman schedule so far I would almost count on Cooper playing against the bigger freshman schools next year. If you saw a freshman game last year, you'd understand why Cooper played in the lower level, some of those games were very tough for the kids. :thumb:

Cooper/Campbell County Predictions
Wouldn't you think that if it is muddy on friday that it would affect Campbell's passing game more than it would Cooper's run game? Just a question. Also I think this game will be a good one. The Cooper/Boone game was a lot closer than the final score showed. I do think that the scoreboard operator could be busy friday night though.

Conner vs Ryle Predictions
I wouldn't poke fun at people's predictions. It was just last week that someone clamied Ryle would lose to SK 42-21 and it wouldn't be close and he got bashed for it, but it turned out to be pretty accurate. Just voicing my opinion, and not saying it was you that said anything last week, but he is just saying how he feels the game will go. And I am just saying, stranger things have happened. I wish both teams the best of luck and hope for a good game!:thumb:

Dixie Coach Rudd
Hard to deal with something like that, the Cooper, Dixie, and Ryle communities will struggle for a time to come with this. Prayers to the family. Heard about this last night, and it is tragic! Hopefully the friends, players, coaches, families, etc. can rally around the members of this family and help them through.
