Cooper certainly heading in the right direction. Camels gave up 3 big plays for scores (kick-off return, long run, long pass) which kept the Jaguars in the game.

First trip to Cooper. Beautiful school and nice football complex.

Nice passing plays from Campbell. Very poor tackling at times by Cooper, but as has been the norm this year, they fought to the end. I wonder if the tackling issues come from practicing in shorts all week.:idunno: The freshman had a week off due to rain and they went back to one-on-one tackling drills last Monday to stay sharp. Next year is a big year for Cooper, IMO, to see what the coaches can do. They will have most of their starters back and a talented group that will be sophomores. It will be interesting to see how they get mixed in with the returning starters, if at all.

I think I speak for most people involved in the Cooper organization when I say that in no way do the Jaguars want to practice in shorts all week, but there is not a lot you can do about that when you have so many players that go both ways, and play most special teams, and those players are banged up. Sure, you can always make them go into tackling drills all week long, but then you take the risk of them becoming a little better tacklers but watching the games from the sidelines because they are so banged up and get hurt in practice. Cooper just doesn't have the numbers quite yet to go in those full out tackling drills practice, but they will. Be patient, things will get better, they already have throughout the year. :thumb:

Cooper coming close to getting that first district win. Their last two losses have been much closer than I expected.

First half was ugly for the Jaguars. Still haven't been able to put 4 quarters together! The team is young, and it will come, but Cooper was about 3 inches from potentially tying the game at the end. A long pass by Bradley on 4th down was thrown a few inches short to Klute, and the Campbell DB made a good play never giving up on the ball and making a good play to seal the win! Proud of Cooper for the effort, but now they have to do that from the first snap of the game, and not the second half!

There are a ton of very good teams out there that practice all week in shorts EVERY week. Especially at this time of year. Most colleges and professional teams rarely practice in full gear. Being a good tackler has zero to do with going in full gear.

Cooper is by far the most improved team in Northern Kentucky this year. I'd expect them to continue to improve next year. Rome was not built in a day and sophomores do not win football games at the 6A level. If they do get "mixed in" that is usually not a good sign.

The kids and coaching staff at Cooper need to be applauded. They have hung in there and fought every week with really only two games being out of reach (compared to what, 8 games last year?) The kids are working their tails off and they believe in what Coach Borchers and staff are doing. Get ready for Conner this week!
