  1. I heard one of the Bobcats had injured his hand working on a car. I know Rock lost a couple guys in the Rowan game. Either way, Bell will wear Rock down and win . I think it will be closer than the first time. Bell 28-7 .
  2. Rock dominated this game. They were up 41-6 after 3 quarters. Rowan scored 2 late TD's on JV with all their starters still in the game. I am curious why they would leave all their starters in the entire game and if they have done this the whole year. Rowan had no answer for Rock's running game. Rowe must have had 200+ yards and the line and other backs did an excellent job of opening holes for him. Good luck against Bell!!!
  3. Rock was even with Southwestern, PC without Muse, and Knox Central. In my opinion Whitley is playing at a level 2-3 touchdowns above these teams. I just can't see how the Rock is going to hold the score down enough to have a chance to win. I hope Jericho is right but I've been to every game this year and I just don't see it happening. Whitley will score most of the time they get into our secondary with the running game and that will be a least 4-5 times. With 10 kids playing both ways our offense will be too fatigued to keep up the scoring pace and our defense will start breaking instead of just bending.I hope I am wrong but I think we need a couple of turnovers to have a shot to win.
  4. Rock couldn't tackle Watts with no blocking. Either he is just awesome or they will never tackle a talented backfield with a good O line. Rock has struggled to tackle shifty backs all year. Rock defense is traditionally one of the best in the area, just not so this year. I am only calling it like I see it. Kids don't fly to the ball and defense is a couple steps slow to react. It is also difficult to ask a 15 year old sophomore like Rowe to pack the ball 25 times and stay mentally alert the whole game in a new position like cornerback. In my opinion he has done amazingly well ( 1600 PLUS yards) for a kid who turned 15 in September. He will improve along with the other sophs and in a year or 2 who knows!!!
  5. Whitley will run up and down the field on and outmanned Rock defense. Whitleys backfield against a poor tackling Rock team is a recipe for disaster. Whitley wins 42-14 with subs in 4th quarter.
  6. This may be the best team for 3 years. You have to factor in their schedule and the fact that Knox Central is much improved the last 3 years instead of the automatic win they were for 15 years. We were supposed to play Danville the first week and that got switched to Boyle plus Bell has had 3 of their strongest teams in recent memory. In reality we probably would have lost to Pulaski last year if Muse had played the second half, but their teams have also been quite a bit above average. Rock also loses 6 senior 2-way starters and only has 3 juniors who start. On the bright side we do have 6-7 sophomores who either start or play a lot , so their is some hope!!
  7. In my opinion Muse and Abner at PC were 2 of the best players in the county. Take them both off the field and their are several teams who could have beat Pulaski that night. I think Somerset has and excellent teams but if PC had started the season with Muse as a flanker/receiver and Abner at quarterback with all the other talent they are blessed with on offense they would have been tremendous. We will never know but I believe even with a mediocre defense they would have advanced well into playoffs. As for my beloved Rockets. I have seen them go from a state power to a team with low numbers and minimal depth. We use to dress in the 55-60 range and now its 40-45. Players who used to be good jv players are now having to play varsity. We have losing records from our 7th, 8th grade, freshmen, JV and varsity football teams. I have been close to the program and attended every game for 20 years and these are the facts, not my opinion. Anyone who wants to know what happened to Rock football need only look at the size of a home crowd and the number of players dressed. Unless the administration and the town get behind it once again I fear it will never return to what it was. For the record, our problems started surfacing in our youth programs 5-6 years ago when we were still winning regional championships. I have recently noticed Bells numbers down some too, will be interesting to see what happens there in 4-5 years.
  8. I think Rock will have a hard time with Southwestern. Their line is one of the best I have seen and they have hard-nosed running backs. Rock couldn't put the Pulaski game away with a 2 touchdown lead and the ball with 8 minutes to go. Questionable calls but I thought Pulaski exposed Rocks D as very weak on the corners and open field tackling.Speaking of Pulaski, no way Somerset gives them a close game that night if Muse and Abner didn't play. It looked to me like they were getting ready to put a thumping on the Jumpers.
  9. Mccreary's speed will be difficult for Rock to handle if the field is somewhat dry. Rock had some trouble with the Brown kid from Madison Southern.
  10. I agree whole heartedly about Roark and Watts. It's just the Brown kidd seems to have blinding speed with the rest of the package. What is the latest on Mcquearys injury situation, had heard they had a couple linemen injured?
  11. Rico Brown is the most dangerous player I have seen all year by far. I don't understand why he doesn't touch the ball 15-20 times per game. He is #4 for Madison Southern. I think he will make Western one heck of a player. Not bad on defense either!!!
  12. What was Rock thinking, up 2 scores with 8 minutes to go and passing with the second team backfield in the game. I figured they would grind out the clock and put game away with Rowe and Saylor in backfield. Great win for Pulaski who showed a lot of heart I was just somewhat confused by Rocks game plan in 4th quarter. Rowe is a really nice sophomore running back !
  13. Rock has no ill feelings from last years game. We were outmanned and played our butt off to beat a excellent team who lost their quarterback in the first half. We are under no illusion ,Pulaski will have far more speed and talent and we much play hard nosed Rock football to have a chance. Don't mean Rock can't win they just need their A game.
  14. Rock hasn't played played a team with this speed except Boyle and they couldn't tackle them. Rock offensive line must pull together if they are going to run on Pulaski. Pulaski co. 28 Rock 14.
  15. I don,t think Rock will be able to score. All points last week were gifts. Rock also has horrible tacklers . Wayne will win 14-7 in a defensive struggle
  16. 12 people in this poll must have voted with their heart. The clock could easily be running at the start of the third quarter. Rock lost their two leading rushers and their only 2 wideouts as well as their entire defensive back field. It will be October before even Coach Saylor can field a competitive defense. On the upside the Rock does have 5-6 sophomores starting for a change which may lead to some improvement in years to come.
  17. Tanner Perkins and John L Saylor dropped back to back 350+ dingers and broke open a game tied at one in the 7th inning with Wayne County. The Rockets also beat South Laurel 9-7 in the first game of a doubleheader Monday at the Rockets home field. Perkins homer , his 7th of the year came with Dustin Bullock aboard and gave the Rockets a 4-1 cushion. Saylor round tripper , his 6th of the year was a solo shot. Dustin Bullock ,who leads the team with a .480 batting average was 4 for 4 with 3 walks on the day. Bullock also got the win pitching against South Laurel before being relieved by Justin Bryant in the 7th. Jarrod Smith and Jake Riddle also had big days at the plate with 3 hits each. Riddle also made a couple of excellent plays at second base to keep the score tied at 1 each. I think these 2 games will give the rockets some added momentum heading into the District tournament and hopefully beyond!!
  18. Tanner Perkins at Rockcastle County. He is one of the best 2-3 pitchers in the state and one of the top position players as center fielder and hitter in state also. Recently had 16 professional scouts at intra-squad scrimmage and the consensus seemed to be he would never see the field as a college player. Tanner pitches left handed and stays in 89-91 range. He is also a top quality young man !!!
  19. Wayne will match up well with Rock. I think they may well be the darkhorse. I will pick Casey to win title by 4 over Lincoln just because Pittman works so hard on offensive glass.
  20. Looks like Casey pretty much has a bye to championship game. Bottom bracket will be tough with Wayne, Lincoln and Rock. Good luck to all the girls.
  21. In my opinion it will come down to Casey and Lincoln with another game as close as Friday night. Southwestern seems to be struggling a little right now and Rock looked unimpressive Friday night. Wayne could also make some noise if Casey or Lincoln were to have a off night!!
  22. This score really suprised me as Rock has 2-3 starters banged up right now. I know a couple starters played less than a quarter tonight, but Southwestern who has a lot of talent just seemed out of sync. Score was over 30 point margin early in 4 th quarter. Part of it was Rock was hitting everything they throwed up and SW was cold. Part of it could have been Rocks defense . If these two teams played again I honestly think it would be a 5-10 point game either way. Just my opinion !!!
  23. Norths leading scorer didn't play in this game. It will be much closer next time!!
  24. I don't think Rock can match Caseys intensity. The lady rebels are really determined this year. Pittman is a real force down low and will lead the Rebels to victory by 7 points. Lincoln will be the hardest hurdle for Casey to climb because the Brown girl can match Megan down low.
