I'm not gonna lie Dunba'r run defense is as good as anyone if you line up and run right at them. Even MBA could not line up and try to run over them. Madison Central had some success but that was more because of their speed getting the corner and some costly turnovers by Dunbar. That's the story of the year so far for Dunbar. Injuries and Turnovers. If Dunbar can hold on to the football and even just punt and make Ryle work for the offense they get instead of just handing out free points like they did against PRP, Dunbar is a tough team to beat, but if they fumble the ball they can be beat by anyone.

Not mean to say anything bad but Ryle's main set is Power I. They are by no means a passing team either. For local people they look a lot like Tates Creek. They are a VERY GOOD running football team and it will be tough to beat them.

I don't speak for Trinity but I know the programs that I have been apart of with East Jessamine and Dunbar a lot of the times we let Juniors play J.V. who do not see a lot of playing time in the Varsity game. It is hard to keep Juniors interested in football when they may be a solid back up to a senior on Friday night in the Varsity game and do not see much playing time unless they get to play in the J.V. games. My guess for Trinity would be that they do the same. They may have some solid Juniors who do not play much at the varsity level so they need some in game work this year to get them ready for the varsity level their senior year.

I'm not saying Dunbar was world beaters but PRP had 160 yards offense and Dunbar had 140 something. Slink will back me on the stats because he does them lol Let's be realistic as well here 10 points came off of Dunbar turnovers in the first half. In the second half, a punt block, a kickoff that hit Dunbar's foot and PRP fell on it, a touchdown after a blocked field goal when Dunbar hit their holder,I believe another touchdown after a Dunbar fumble, a Dunbar missed field goal in the first half at the buzzer after the first one was good when luckily PRP jumped offside and made Dunbar re kick it. I'm not saying Dunbar is better or worse or whatever but this is a fact PRP had 0 points after Dunbar punted or kickoffed to them, 29 of them came off of Dunbar turnovers or a blocked punt. PRP got a lot of breaks last night and I can't for the life of me see them getting breaks like that against Male or St. X. I agree that Dunbar's touchdown came off of PRP's turnover but if we go by turnover points not counting then PRP has 7 and that came off of a blocked punt the other 22 were accounted to Dunbar turnovers.

PRP is a good team but after watching them last night Madison Central is better than them. Dunbar gift wrapped last night with crazy turnovers. With as much speed as they have and could only manage 160+ yards offense was not a good sign for them. If PRP is as good as Male and St. X then Louisville is way down.

It also looks like Corey Williams will be back around district time as well. He tore his ACL last season and his knee never fully recovered so he had to have a second surgery and fixed a lot of scar tissue around his knee and he should be at full speed in a few weeks. So if you add Corey and Greene into Dunbar's offense it looks MUCH better. As of right now Dunbar is banged up a little bit but when district roles around they should luck a lot different then they have early on in the season.

Madison Central is a great team but I have a feeling MBA would find a way to win, so I would give them the edge but not by much. I have a feeling MBA wouldn't give Central any big plays and they would have to grind the ball down the field and that's not Centrals strength especially against a good MBA d line.

MBA maybe a little better quarterback and better line play but skill kids go to Central. MBA's main problem is they have no big playmakers where Central is just full of them. They are both good teams but honestly these two teams are about night and day from one another in their styles of play.

Central will get their shot against Highlands, and believe me when I tell you in Fort Thomas it's a whole lot different than in Central Kentucky. The fans for one are so close they can read the away coaches play script. If Central can remain undeafeated going into the Highlands game it will roll in Fort Thomas and unfortunately I know what that is like. Madison Central is very good and whole lot better than Dunbar. Don't know what else to say.

It seems to me that Dunbar was in a lose, lose situation. Either MBA killed Dunbar and everyone says Dunbar stinks or Dunbar plays MBA close or wins and everyone says MBA is awful. MBA isn't that bad and if anyone thinks MBA will get blown out people better think again. I would give Trinity the edge but Dunbar is a smash mouth offense who eats up clock. Trinity is the polar opposite with a spread attack throwing the ball all over the field. MBA will be a lot better at covering the pass then stopping the run is my guess.

Madison Central is coming off a blow out victory of 70-0 over West Jessamine while Dunbar is coming off a hard fought loss to MBA 24-7 this past week. Who will win this game on Friday night?

I totally agree. MBA was the better team and they won the game. MBA played in the heat as well. I think some of Dunbar's players who went down who were the one's who went both ways. I don't think any of MBA players went both ways. Maybe that's why Dunbar had more cramps or maybe MBA was in better shape but who knows for sure. I didn't mean my quotes like (Would of, could of, should of) more like Dunbar lost in areas that are easily correctable for the future and when their runningback returns could be a very hard team to beat. On MBA they were a class act from the Coaches, Players, Parents etc. I really would like to see Dunbar and MBA play again in the future.

Dunbar has one of the best runningbacks around in Jerrell Greene but he sprained his MCL in the Franklin County scrimmage last week and didn't play. He is #33. He played against Southwestern in the first scrimmage and everyone seemed very impressed with the few carries he had that night. If you add him to the offense Dunbar looks MUCH better. Then when all of the other skill kids went down with cramps Dunbar couldn't move the ball at all.

This was a VERY CLOSE game. It was 14-7 till about 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter when Dunbar muffed a punt and MBA recovered deep in Dunbar terriotory. Dunbar held them to a field goal which made the score 17-7. Dunbar then drove the ball to MBA's 4 yard line and penalties messed up the drive and a missed field goal gave Dunbar no points on the drive. MBA scored a late touchdown to make the game 24-7. The story for Dunbar tonight was the lack of skill kids and special team mistakes. Cramps and injuries have killed Dunbar so far this year. Hopefully Dunbar can get healthy. If Dunbar could have had all of their players on the field tonight this game could have very easily gone the other way. MBA could not move the ball at all on Dunbar's defense. Dunbar in the trenches really gave MBA fits. MBA had no answer for Dunbar's defensive line yet Dunbar could not move the ball much with basically no skill kids on the field. Special teams and injuries lost this game for Dunbar.

Dunbar plays Franklin County in the second scrimmage of the night. I think about 8:00 or 8:30. The first scrimmage is LCA vs. East Jessamine.

I have to totally disagree with your point on the reciever can tell a difference between a route and a block. For example how can a d.b. tell the difference between a crack block by a wide receiver and a slant route? They are suppose to look a like so there is not way for the ref to know that. That's the idea of a crack block that the corner will chase down inside like a slant and a team can run a toss sweep or some type of outside play to get outside where that corner vacated from. Just from what I have seen in my few years I have never seen a good football let teams run crossing routes across the middle of the field without linebackers or safeties jamming them when they cross. That should be illegal but happens all the time. Many teams who give you twins to one side will jam the inside receiver to keep them from having two verticals going down field. Boyle County makes a living off of jamming the tight end and not letting him run routes. I assure you if you give Bell County twins they will beat the crap out of the inside receiver. Many teams today vs. spread offense run a hard cover 2 and will jam the outside receiver to keep him in the flats, and this is never called. I could go on and on how defenses make contact will eligable recievers in everyday defensive schemes. We need to quit babying receivers by telling defensive players "you can't hit them unless they hit you". It's football if recievers are not tough enough to get out on a route with a little bit of contact thrown their way then tough luck. This players needs to get better. Football is a phyiscal game. Anyway, I can't think of the last time a flag was thrown for a defensive player hitting a wide out before the ball was in the air. I think this rule is all most like the lane violation in the NBA. Doesn't really exist anymore.

I know the game doesn't mean a whole lot but do you think Highlands has a chance of beating St. X when they play this season or at least being a very good game?

I agree that our season should be pushed back here in Kentucky but the KHSAA is in love with basketball and it is almost a terrible thought to think of pushing the football season into one more week of basketball. But as for me I love the idea of starting a little later.

The superintendent of Fayette County Schools is wanting Bryan Station to play up so that they are not the only Lexington Public School not in 6A. I have a feeling that they will and that will make a 5 team district. I can not believe that Harlan and Shelby County are in the same district. That should be a nice bus ride. I thought Southwestern was in 6A why were they put back in 5A with this website?

Why do these polls not give the Ohio teams the credit they deserve? I think I saw 2 Ohio teams. Either these reporters are terrible or teams like Elder, Moeller and other Ohio teams are not as good as talked about. I personally say these reporters are dumb so I don't put much stock in rankings.

I think Lexington Catholic could and should. They can fill the spot of Bryan Station leaving.
