  1. After all, nobody outside Kentucky has any good teams, right?:idunno::idunno::
  2. Congrats to a fine young man that has worked his tail off to achieve all he has for his team and himself. He is a leader and a winner, and Dale, you raised that kid right, it shows!
  3. You are so right. Just beat them by one or two and make everybody feel good.:idunno::idunno::idunno::puke:
  4. However, I believe the game is being played with this year's rosters. Elliott County is playing well right now as is Rose Hill. Elliott is more experienced and much stronger, especially at the ball-handling positions and should win this game. I am sure Rose Hill will try to control the tempo, but I think Elliott's defensive pressure will be too much. I look for a spirited effort from the young Rose Hill team, but Elliott's strength and conditioning will be the difference. I'm not sure that they ever get tired.
  5. I agree with the result, for the most part. I would disagree with the statement that these voters have watched all of the teams. These are regional or local newspapers whose editors or writers are voting. I sincerely doubt, for example, that the Ashland Independent's voter has seen Holmes or almost anybody else outside the 16th Region or the opponents of 16th Region teams. That would explain why there are votes for teams like Middlesboro and West Carter, while teams such as Anderson County are left out.
  6. Elliott shot well and played decent defense. Fairview was clearly hurt, as any team would be without two starters. They played hard and did not quit in spite of the adversity. Just completely outmanned and overwhelmed. Did not witness any player misconduct by either team.
  7. You are joking, right? This team plays the game the way it is suppossed to be played every night and it gets better every year. They are well mannered and respectful young men. I suggest you talk to Joe B. Hall about his opinion on their attitudes. They have won over fans all of the state with their enthusiasm, hustle and dedication to the game. Your comments are the sourest of the sour grapes.
  8. To sum it up, there was really no good reason to cancel game. Elliott does not have an "ego" problem when it comes to Fleming County. Getting to play Fleming will not make or break the season, and for the poster saying there was nothing else to do in Elliott County that night, Flemingsburg is not exactly the Commonwealth's hot spot. It is game against a regional opponent. I would think Fleming County would welcome the chance to test themselves against the top team in the region. I guess we will find out if the reschedule. Elliott County gave up some games against other opponents to honor regional contracts. I hope the game is rescheduled.
  9. I'll be surprised if Knipp plays tonight. Have to wait and see.
  10. I think East will pick up the district win. East's guards can certainly handle what pressure Morgan tries to apply and Morgan has no answer for Barnhill.
  11. Knipp does not have a bad attitude. The kid's a sophmore. Give him a break. The post by Basketball Jones regarding barnhill is ridiculous. He is an excellent player and multi- talented. Knipp will play D-1 basketball and Colt may very well do the same.
  12. Elliott thwarted the east attempt to slow the pace by pressuring the guards and then letting defense create offense. Great defensive effort. Knipp and Barnhill play completely different types of games within completely different offensive and defensive schemes. Both played well tonight. Barnhill is strong enough to take over a game if the perimeter players can handle the pressure well enough to get him the ball. I haven't seen stats but I don't recall anyone blocking close to ten shots, not that it would affect my view of the game. Both big men do what they are supposed to do within their respective systems. Ferguson shot the ball well and the Faulkners forced the pace with solid defensive efforts, creating numerous turnovers and transistion baskets. Chris Knipp seems to improve with each outing.
  13. I'm sorry, but after this weekend I just can't see Ashland rated ahead of Menifee County. I know it is difficult to swallow, but the mighty Tomcats lost to one of the bottom two teams in the region and do not deserve a high ranking until they beat somebody.
  14. I am going to have to be consistent in spite of my team's lofty ranking. I have always thought Cantrall's and Lit's rankings were based on a formula that produced flawed results. Never liked those rankings and never will. But, they do give us something to talk about.
  15. For once, we completely agree.:thumb:
  16. I guess I could have said it better but I meant ranking Boone County in the top 5 is a reach, and Scott County ahead of Holmes is not right.
  17. Dang! A set of rankings I can't disagree with!
  18. Winning against good Kentucky schools doesn't seem to help. Oh well.Just another opinion. Holmes ranked behind Scott County and Boone County in the top 5 tells me all I need to know about this poll's credibility.
  19. Cosby did not move at all without the ball and didn't do much on defense. His shot wasn't falling and I guess that affected the rest of his game. Not impressive at all. JTown has great length and a pretty good offensive big man in Reeves as long as he stays within 4 feet of the rim. I sat behing the bench and they seem to have some big issues between players and coach. Those chemistry issues better get straightened out or they won't have a chance to get through a very tough Regional.
  20. This game will bring out the best in East Carter, but it won't be enough. Elliott County's pressure on the guards will disrupt the Raider's deliberate style and their strategy of getting the ball inside to Barnhill. Elliott by 18.
  21. Webb has the Comets playing tough as nails. They have worked themselves into being Elliott's leading challenger in the Region of the teams I have seen. Fairview is one of the three teams in the region I have not seen, so I believe the next game could establish the number 2 team in the region.
  22. Didn't see the Anderson County game last night, huh?
  23. Give me a break. Anderson County was extremely strong and physical. Elliott started driving to the rim in the second half and every shot was highly contested. Anderson County had to foul late in order to force overtime. This was a great game between two great teams that play the game right. Don't bring that not too well disguised whining about officials into it. It cheapens the effort that both teams put forth.
  24. East went 1-14 in the first quarter. They started pounding it inside to Barnhill in the second half. He had 10 of his points in the 4th quarter and seemed to answer every Greenup County run with a bucket. He is a strong kid and a tough matchup for most of the region.
