  1. Great post Nets. They are a limited by conference and District committments, but they have scheduled some pretty solids games with what dates they had left. They also have to fit in the All A Classic and actually only have 8 home games this year. They did add Madisonville and GRC as their scrimmages and are trying to work out a game with Franklin County to replace the Greenup County snow out. You must also consider home and home committments from last year. Elliott County has definitely not shied away from tough competition now or in the past. I recall they continued to play the OJ Rose Hill teams when others in the region were dropping them like hot cakes.
  2. Here we go again. South Charleston and the BBC are not all that weak. Anderson and Mason aint bad. The scrimmages were with Madisonville and GRC. Considering District and Conference requirements, it is not a bad schedule, but it's all been said before, so it really doesn't matter.
  3. I think that it is humorous to watch everyone get all fired up over a spot or two in the rankings. Almost everyone seems to be in agreement on who the top teams in the state are, but drop them a spot or two in the top ten and the fire starts to fly!
  4. West Carter starting to look real good.
  5. Recently you are very correct. My lifetime must be a little longer than yours.
  6. Looks like they may hold off the upset.
  7. Wow! Holmes losing to an unranked team in the second half. Who woould have thought that. Maybe Dr. Lit is right (for once)!
  8. Ethan Faulkner had a great stat line for a point guard. 11 points, 9 assists and 9 steals. Looks like the shooting improved a little, but it is going to take a better offensive performance to win the next game.
  9. We have found something I can totally agree with you on!!!:thumb:
  10. I'm not buying into "it's the coach's fault.'' I would be happy to have either Baker coaching for me. Is there something going on within the team, or just poor play?
  11. What has happened to the Raiders? Two losses in a row to teams they should have beaten.
  12. This was a one point game last year. Considering East and Morgan score was 47-38, this could be a major clash in playing styles. It is also a district game and a rivalry game. It comes right after a big win over the Number 1 team in West Virginia and right before the trip to the beach. East is a well coached, disciplined team that plays solid defense. This game has DANGER written all over for Elliott County if they don't have thier minds on their business.
  13. Contrary to what has been said elsewhere, East is a very good team, particularly on defense. Cooter had a pretty good prediction. Elliott will win, but the score will certainly be lower. Should be a well played game to watch.
  14. What happened to the Run and Gun? Did Powell slow down the pace? Congrats to BC. Give Wooten some time and I believe he will rebuild the Lions.
  15. Very good thought and advice Rambler. It has been great. There are those who will never accept that a school not located in Northern Kentucky, Louisville, or the Lexington area could possibly compete with schools that are located in those areas. Elliott's players have more than competed with those players over the years on the AAU circuit, but I realize that doesn't matter to the bashers either. We will just have to wait until tournament time, I guess to settle a lot of doubter's issues. Elliott put on a show after the lead was cut to two points early in the 3rd quarter. Ferguson was on fire from deep and many of the shots were heavily contested. Ethan Faulkner handled the pressure SC tried to apply and hit a ton of free throws down the stretch. Timmy Knipp continues to improve and impress. He is certainly one of the top sophs in the state. I look forward to seeing how they fare in the BBC, but I understand that even if they win the whole tournament and then beat Duke in a scrimmage, they still would have to prove themselves by beating some instate competition from our urban areas.:rolleyes:
  16. East will win big. Morgan cannot handle the pressure defense that East plays.
  17. Eliott played zone the last 3 and a half quarters and it was pretty soft. Boyd took advantage by making a ton of threes. I really think Boyd will eventually be a decent team. They are athletic and shoot the ball pretty well. They need to learn to play a little defense and handle the ball better to play the style Wooten wants.
  18. We can put you in one of the black Elliott shirts and you will fit right in!:thumb:
  19. Refer to post 39. Apparently not the first game. If they truly are a running team, this should be fun. Elliott County 92-75.
  20. Knipp was not in the game at the end. I don't know if you are confused or just trying to add fuel to a fire that should not exist. I suggest you get your facts straight or buy a program so you will know who the players are. Believe me I know who the starters are.
  21. Anyone who says the score was run up wasn;t at the game. Boyd pressed the whole game and continually shot after one pass. They wanted to run because that is the system WEooten is implementing. You cannot tell your players not to play. Elliott played a zone as I said, and they did not play it aggressively. In fact, I'm sure that the coach was entirely displeased with the defensive effort, especially after the first quarter. It is funny that no one from Boyd is complaining, only the Elliott bashers from elsewhere. The Boyd fans know what their coach tried to do.
  22. Elliott absolutely had no starters in at the end of the game and Knipp is the only one who played as much as a minute in the 4th quarter, if it was that much. Boyd set the pace. Elliott played zone for 3 and a half quarters. Boyd shot well and when the talent grows into Wooten's system, they won't be bad.
