Sarah Hammond is a junior this year, I believe that she is being looked at by several schools. All I've heard is rumors about the schools, so I'm not going to throw out names.

I like the Raiders chances. I saw their linemen at camp this summer, and I was impressed with the size and attitude. I'm not sure what is going on at KC more than just what I read on here. I do know that they have a pretty good coaching staff there and I'm familiar with Coach Russell after meeting him last year through his cousin after the Rock/KC game. But, from performances so far this year, I will take MC.

I'd say there were some happy campers tonight...congrats to LC.

This one hurt the boys badly. Hopefully they can make a learning experience of it and come out for the better in district play. Congrats to Pulaski tonight.

I doubt that poll numbers are that accurate. I know that I will never vote that someone will beat Rockcastle, whether I like our chances or not. How could I tell my son to his face, "Play your heart out for a win, I believe in you" in a game and then come on here and say, "I pick Boyle to win by twenty"? I try to be positive about every game that they play, whether I expect a win or not. BTW...This week I expect a win.

Wayne County running back have a good game? My son said he had between sixty and seventy yards when the varsity came out early in the fourth. He finished with ninety-nine unofficially according to Rock's stats. (the goal was to keep him under one hundred:D) He was a fast powerful little runner.

Yes, this is true. That penalty was the second one for the Rebels in the game that called back that touchdown. The first was the first play of the game for illegal procedure. The one that called back the touchdown was the second, just before the halftime horn. There was at least 22 minutes of game clock where only Rockcastle was penalized. Rockcastle had at least six maybe seven in between with three of those penalties stopping drives. Rockcastle also proved that they could drive the ball just before halftime and before the boys were worn down. I'm not taking anything away from a good Boyle County team, but, only stating my opinion that when the pendelum of penalties swung the other way in the second half, the damage was done and Rockcastle was behind by three or four touchdowns at the end of the second quarter. Rockcastle's only chance of winning that game was to control the ball and keep it out of McShara's hands. No matter how many penalties against Boyle in the second half, after being down by three touchdowns, Rockcastle was worn down and probably wasn't coming out of the hole.

Rockcastle's problem last night was a combination of too much McShara, (heck of a runner) playing ironman football with Boyle County having pretty much two teams going in and out, and, some hinky refereeing in the first half. (Rockcastle was called for six or seven of their eight penalties in a row in the first half). The penalties stalled three drives in the first half in which Rockcastle was chipping away two to four yards at a time. A ten or fifteen yard penalty was just too much to overcome for them against a stiff defense. You could see the boys tiring in the game with Boyle fresh where they were switching out on offense and defense. I think without McShara in the game, it would have been a very different ballgame. That kid must have rockets in his backside, he was tough last night. The hinky refereeing seemed to settle down a bit in the second half, with calls going both ways. But it caused a long run for the Rockets to be called back in the first half that would have possibly been Rockcastle second score with Boyle not having scored yet. I'm sure that they made the calls that they saw and maybe our boys made six or seven straight penalties, but one pass interference call with the defenders hands straight up in the air and him not touching Boyle's receiver just before halftime, (I know for a fact this one stunk) was hinky. Congrats Boyle, your boy McShara is the real deal. I think Rock will get the ship righted and come around with some hard work and a little luck (staying healthy) and Boyle (with a healthy McShara and that killer linebacker) will contend this year.

Them boys from Lynn Camp know how to lay on some licks. I know that sheer numbers are in Whitley's favor, but I think that LC will make it closer than most of you think. They have some big ol' linemen who might be a difference maker. The first game was just that... a first game for both teams. LC's coach will get them lined out and make more of a game out of it against a good Whitley team.

From what I've seen, Cole Abney is going to be the vocal leader as well as possibly the main leader of the team this year. All of the kids look up to him (including the backs) and he seems to be the spark plug that keeps them fired up. That showed at camp the last two nights. Cole's numbers that were reported on here, I'm pretty sure, are accurate. The kid's work ethic is off the chart when it comes to the weight room and the field. As I posted earlier in this thread, he will be leaving Rockcastle with most of the teams' weightlifting records in hand, including his brother's. The teams at camp this year is are Rockcastle, Lynn Camp, Wayne County and Harlan County. Harlan had some big boys there and Lynn Camp had some huge kids there. I think one big cornfed boy would go 6'6" and 325lbs. for LC. (That's stand flat footed and crap in the back of a dump truck big.) They also had a freshman that is about 6' 4" and 300lbs or so.

Mark started coaching the Berea Community Middle School team with a few fellows that I played with. He invited me to come down and help but my work schedule wouldn't allow me too. I worked with him at a factory a few years before he went back to school at Eastern to get his degree. He was a nice kid and I could see his enthusiasm for football back then. I agree with the quote earlier from nWo...I'd have been glad to have had him coach my boys if things had worked out that way. Go get 'em Mark!!

The boys got back from Joe Prince's Hog Heaven lineman camp late tonight. There was eleven attending with two going to skills camp and nine linemen at the Hawg Trough. I hear the boys did Rockcastle proud with Abney and "Big" Thacker leading the group. They toed up to some of the big boys including players from Owensboro and Scott County and held their own. I also heard that it was an excellent camp for some of the younger linemen that attended and that the staff of the camp had much praise for the Rock's boys. :thumb: They also said something about a certain Scott County coach making off with Joe's bullhorn....I reckon he'll have to go to Georgetown to get it back.

Impressive wins for the Lexington schools. PRP is normally pretty tough, and I'm certain that I saw in a recent poll where they were in the top twenty in the state if not the top ten. Congrats to Dunbar and LCA for beating PRP and making this one so close.

Well, if that is the case, and they gave Bell all they wanted....it is a shame that they aren't represented by someone. I listened to that game on the radio, but, couldn't remember much about their players. I just remembered that the running back almost single handedly took that game over.

I don't really know much about where Bullitt East players' classes fall, for instance, if that running back they had that took Bell County to the wire in the championship was a senior...or for that matter if any of their stars were seniors. But, after looking at the rosters of both teams, I don't see one representative of the class 4A runners up. Maybe I missed something?....or are they just a really young talented team to watch for this next year?

I looked around during spring break at the Cocoa Expo in Florida to see if I saw anybody wearing some of that stuff as there are several on here from NE KY. Greenup Co., Raceland, Russell, Ashland and I believe Boyd County were there as well as West Jess. and Scott Co. from down here. I never saw any BGP gear. (Of course, I'm so pitiful at picking games I'll probably have to buy some.)
