Man I'm getting old. I remember Pike when he was a baby Raider and wasn't too big. I wonder how big he is now. I am betting similar to his old man before he is said and done. Birds win in a shootout.

I know, I was there. However, after Central, I think the level falls off quite a bit compared to HHS. I know I'll hear it about that.

I would feel very sorry for 3A if they made HHS drop down to 3A level. As for 6A, there has become enough teams in this area that you may see all teams in NKY either go up to 6A or drop to 4A if they're not careful. 5A teams are starting to become sparse. I just hope that no matter what happens, they DO keep the kids best interest in mind.

I know that there are so many things that people could say about this thread. But, here goes nothing: I grew up in Fort Thomas, the youngest of 6 siblings and on the south end of town. If anyone from here knows, that's as close as any of us got to "the hood" in Fort Thomas. It was the working class side of town and where parents couldn't see you participate in sports or volunteer in the cafeteria because they either were both working-multiple jobs, or were divorced, or worse, not both still around. We were the rougher crowd and you could definitely tell it when we got to middle school. When we went throught the FTJFL we had only just started flag football in 3-4th grades and tackle didn't start until 5-6th grade. When I was in 4th grade my determined and outspoken brother called the league president at the time and explained that he believed I was big and talented enough to play in the 5-6th grade league. He told them my size and they allowed me to play. I got to play on the Blue team which consists of mainly Ruth Moyer kids. We won the championship. The next year they rezoned the league and my brother and I both ended up on the Green team which was mostly Woodfill kids. Eventually the School districts followed with the rezoning, and if I were to live where I did growing up, I would have went to Woodfill and not Ruth Moyer like I did. At first it was devastating to not even get to play on the team that supposedly represented my school. With time, it just made me stronger and I met many new friends. The people all new your name, especially Reno Deaton. My coaches are still in the community today: Tony Costas, Moose Bradford, Bob Mullen, Dave McMahon, Tom New, Rob Peterson, and who could forget Larry Olberding. He once turned the lights on in his huge Cadillac so we could practice up at Woodfill one time. In middle school, they decided to make a league similar to the Frosh league in NKY. We had a North and a South team for the middle school and played other local schools' middle school teams. If that didn't divide that town from the North and South, the haves and that have-nots, the soshes and the greasers, I don't know what did. But it turned out that the championship game was between the two teams from Highlands. North won, oh well. Here all this time I thought how terrible it was to be a poor kid living in Fort Thomas and how I couldn't stand people with money. Now I see they were just trying to do what I am now doing for my kids. Now I live in the center of town with a beautiful house, great family, great job, and couldn't be happier. My number one pre-requesite for my wife was that I told her I would not leave Fort Thomas. Thank God she wanted to live here too. Nowadays, my worst problem I face is figuring out who didn't clean up after their dog in my front yard. It's nice to see the police patrol almost every half hour past my house. We should have it so rough. I'll never forget where I came from and don't want my kids to either.

2 questions: What time is the game? Is there a faster way to get there than the 5hrs and 45 min directions that Mapquest keeps trying to send me on? I know I may be too late for this. I didn't realize how far away this place was. Can someone please help???

In 1992 we beat Tilghman at Tates Creek in the Thoroughbred Bowl, then beat them again at state where Billy Jack Haskins set a record for the longest punt in state game history of 81 yards. He was pretty amazing. The wind and bitter cold were possibly a factor. It was rough for us "clappers" on the sideline.

I can't say anything but WOW! I can't believe that score. Must have been a rough one for the other team.

Would love to do that to see the pride of HHS who is a starting Frosh on MSU, and my nephew by the way. Not sure if I'll get to make the trip though. I think if I am doing that much driving I'd have to go buy a Tom Tom.

I have watched these two young men grow up and they have been great young men since I have known them. Steve comes from a great family and had to hang in there growing up with all those sisters, wow. Zach comes from a great family as well and if anyone knew his father, he was and still is the standard most are compared to when you look for a class act. I know that Zach and his brother are both chips off the ole block. I would be more than happy if my son played for either of these great guys.

Rumor is that Josh Connor is practicing this week, not sure if he'll play or not but the fact that he's practicing is encouraging. I can't wait to see him out there.

I think that Guidugli and my nephew were sophomores that year and it was the beginning of their triple trifecta (1998-2000). Maybe Lorenzen was a senior during this one, can't remember. I don't remember getting an invite to be recognized at a game for the 92 champs, but I probably just missed it. That mud bowl was terrible. I would like to comment to the upset presale ticket argument guy: If you have ever attended a game at HHS as a visitor, you know to get there early or like someone said, "you'll be parking in Dayton." If you don't get there until game time, then you might be parking in Newport or Highland Heights. I for one have never witnessed someone not getting in with a presale ticket. If anyone has experienced this at HHS, please let us know. I understand the idea of playing devil's advocate but come on.

I didn't even read the article. I am out of town for work and you can imagine with all of my pride for HHS and Fort Thomas when I am sitting in the airport terminal at 5:45 this morning and I see this huge picture of a tiny cannon that is the size of a gym shoe how upset I was. I am sure it was a great article; however, I would have a hard time keeping a straight face posing for a picture with this tiny "cannon." If anyone wants to see a cannon, they know to come to David Cecil Memorial Stadium and look up to the "Birds Nest." There were 2 exceptions to my knowledge when it traveled: They took it to Ashland when we played them in '92 but it was never fired and were threatened with prosecution if it were set off, and anyone who is anyone remembers that disloyal Cov Cath neighbor who allowed the cannon to be set up in their back yard which was fantastic!

Let's just hope that Fort Thomas' finest are able to work along with the volunteers working the game to keep the peace and that there are no shenanigans on or off the field. I hope to see a great game and have not really been let down yet by Cov Cath during a regular season game. They always seem to be able to get amped up for the Birds. I don't think that the Colonels fan earlier used our famed "cake eaters" nickname in a complimentary fashion. To him, I am sorry that you feel that way and I hope that you learn to someday get over your harsh feelings for all of us fine Fort Thomasonians. Wow, sorry I missed this game. I am in Toledo, nothing like NKY I'll tell you that!!! Good job Birds way to put it away finally. I heard that there was sort of a comeback at the end but those updates were from the wife, not sure if there were 2's and 3's in at this point. Can anyone give a good synopsis of the game?

I hope my boy Luke gets some great PT and helps those Camels get by what has proven to be a tough Ryle D! Good luck Camels, but those Raiders are tough and is it a sign that today is "talk like a pirate day?" That may prove to be the deciding factor for those Raiders.

As of 5:40pm there are 11 posters picking Dixie. I didn't even know that there were that many people rooting for them judging by the posts on here. Does anyone have some info on standouts at Dixie this year? I am out of town, missing the game just like JBwill. Is there going to be an updates thread????? Please help, losing my mind not getting to be at that game. My wife is going and she doesn't even like football!

Thank you! I know that someone read all of it. No matter what, I will never acknowledge any other team as better than HHS, that is my allegiance to HHS and its my right. However ridiculous it may be, it's my entitlement. Sorry if the rest don't like it. On the topic of Sandman, I do miss him. He was fun. I think that I speak for many who have posted on this thread in past years as myself when I say this thread is not the same without him.:confused:

By the way, whatever happened to that guy that used to post on here religiously, I think he was Sandman or something like that. I don't think I've seen one post on here from the Dixie faithful. Where's your sense of school pride Colonels?

What do you call Colerain? I believe we had them on our schedule this year and there was a game played. It may have been the best thing to happen to this team as well. I have noticed them playing much better since then, much more teamwork and they are starting to gel.
