  1. This. Isn't the object of the game to target the person with the ball?
  2. NFL Officials can't get this rule right. Do we really expect High School Officials to be able to?
  3. How can you see where you are at if you are getting pummeled? How can you see where you are at when your opponent offers little resistance? I would fear injury mostly for Newport but to be frank for Dixie as well. I realize there is always risk in a scrimmage. But that risk should return some reward. On paper, I see nothing but risk in this scrimmage. I hope I am wrong. I hope that this is a truly competitive scrimmage that results in both teams learning a lot about themselves while remaining injury free. Best of luck to both teams!
  4. I wondered why Newport would have scheduled this scrimmage. This doesn't look like a good match up on paper.
  5. I am amazed how one SK fan is constantly called "immature and juvenile" can have so much control over other fans who consider themselves mature knowledgeable adults. How can you not have respect for what SK has been building the past 5-7 years? The one question I do have, is their current trend towards greater success sustainable with the development of the Taylor Mill Eagle youth football organization? I believe in the past the kids who now play for the youth Eagles had to play for South Kenton or the Dixie Raiders depending on where they lived.
  6. Thanks for clearing up the confusion.
  7. Are you sure it is Tim Viox? This conflicts with what was reported on here the other day. Someone posted Tom Viox was the new coach. Tom was the former Head Varsity Coach at Fairfield. Tim was the former Frosh. coach at Fairfield.
  8. Any word on when they plan to announce who he is?
  9. 6 weeks away from the 1st game, any news of a coach? Is there a chance Schmitz will be brought back?
  10. I have no problem with open prediction discussions on sports. It just doesn't feel right to me predicting that a high school athlete/team will lack success or fail. But as I said, that's just me. Very rarely have I ever posted in a prediction thread on High School games. As a Dad who had boys play high school sports, I know how much hard work, effort and dedication they put into football and I never would tell them they wouldn't win or succeed before they actually played the game let alone start the season.
  11. Not sure how anyone can predict what Newports team will do next year with so many question marks right now. Who would have thought Newport would have done as well as they did the last two season's when they hired a coach that no one ever heard of in Matt Schmidt. What if they do it again? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I have never been a big fan of adults sitting behind a computer predicting the failure or lack of success of high school teenagers. I really hope the Wildcats move forward and build on the short success and culture change that Coach Schmidt brought to the program.
  12. Great teacher and a great guy. You won't hear a student or player say one negative word about Trame. The guy just wins at life and his son Andrew has the same characteristics/personality. Easy family to root for.
  13. Jake Ohmer is not playing football. I was told his football days are over.
  14. Sounds about right. I went to school with Pat. He was a very good football and basketball player and was also a nice kid.
  15. I don't think college's can contact him until his JR year. Is that correct?
  16. David Simpson has been the d-coordinator the past few years.
  17. Walton Verona's Jeff Barth was a middle school assistant coach for one year and then became the head coach at the middle school the following year. The very next year he was hired to be WV's varsity coach. I don't know if Barth had any other coaching experience before the 2 yrs at the middle school but it sure has worked out for Walton.
  18. The QB at Newport last year never took a snap under center until his Sr. year. Take a look at his numbers. Scott will never be a serious contender to win State until they develop some sort of passing game.
  19. Its extremely hard for a team to win a State Championship outside of the smaller divisions without the ability to pass the ball. The very rare big schools that are able to do it have great defenses. Scott has never had a great defense. The offense doesn't have the personnel to throw the ball is a tired, old excuse. Funny how schools with barely 200 students like Bellevue, NCC and Beechwood seem to find the personnel to throw the ball but a school with nearly a thousand students can't. The problem is the refusal to develop a QB. As a former Scott player once said, "Woolley wants to make everybody a Running Back". There lies the problem.
  20. Really happy for Fisk. Good guy!
  21. They also said "Andy Floyd" and earlier said a player for Campbell County never got in last year during their State Championship run.
  22. I don't think I ever laughed so hard at play by play guys mispronouncing names so much in my life. "Balk Losey" LOL!!!
  23. CovCath playing really good defense. Game looks to big for the Camels.
  24. Lol! They also said CovCath sold 420 student tickets and remember the basketball players get in for free. Well that is good. It would stink if the bball players had to pay admission to play in Sweet 16.
