I was talking to a friend in the know and young Mr Williams has had visits from UK, UC, and Austin Peay in the last week. In addition Duke has invited him to their big man camp this summer. Colton turned 14 in September and currently is 6'5 250lbs and wears a size 15 shoe. Sorry no Hudl video he played freshman football last year.

From what I have heard he is going to be the real deal. I have only seen him play basketball. I can't wait to see him play football this year. He will only be a Sophomore next year.

Not seen him on the football field but he has shown pretty good footwork and hands while playing basketball. Big frame with the potential to get much stronger once he's into the strength program.

You can have visits from coaches as a sophomore? Just curious, exactly how did Duke invite him to their big man camp, phone, text, e-mail, camp flyer or some other way. These are serious questions by the way as I am currently trying to gather information myself on the entire process.

Not sure on specifics but the meetings were at the HS. I believe the Duke invite was mailed to the school addressed to him.

This is good stuff. His Dad Pat was a very good athlete at Newport back in the late 80's and from what I understand played college football. Colton is bigger than his Daddy though who I think back in the day was 6'3 240 roughly give or take.

His dad looks taller than 6'3 I would say at least 6'5 now.

I think it is a good thing for him to experience, as many camps as possible. He is still very young to be approached by such large schools. Typically it takes a couple of years , at the varsity level until colleges start directly contacting an athlete. I Many athletes get camp invites, and then comes the personal invites. Emails , from actual coaches or a letter addressed, I would consider a personal invite . (not mailer) or standard information on a camp. I do encourage this young man , to go to these camps , and get as much exposure, and experience as possible. Good luck !!!

Sounds about right. I went to school with Pat. He was a very good football and basketball player and was also a nice kid.

The coaches of all mentioned schools talked directly to Colton. The Duke invite was specific to him. He is attending the camp free of charge and was told he was 1 of a 150 invited to this camp. The O-line coach for UK also verbally invited him to their camp this summer. He said something like we need to get you down to our place so we can start coaching you.

Did not think that coaches could talk to kids that were going to be sophomores? Also was not aware you could attend a camp free of charge. That must have been what the UK coach was telling a few kids in NKY. Good information here, anything you could add would be helpful.
