St. Henry @ Covington Holy Cross (2/20)
Jtown replied to AirYardGo's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This is going to be another hard fought game. Each team is very well coached and will be prepared for this game. I think Holy Cross needs to play good all four quarters to win this one. -

I wasn't to impressed with the seventh grader Hatten. He forces shots way to much. He needs to find his role in the team. Then he will be a better for the team. -
Your exactly right. This is how the 9th region varsity basketball season is going as well, with the exception of Holmes.

Scott at Highlands (2/17)
Jtown replied to BaseballIsLife's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This will be a fun game to watch. These are two young teams with not a lot of seniors. I like Scott in a very close game. -
This is surprising because Holy Cross played Holmes and lost to them in the regional even after playing a very good game, but in regular season Holy Cross beat Boone by almost 20 points. Congrats to Boone for winning.
-
Either way holding a solid big man like Smith to zero points is impressive. I would take good defense over good offense any day. And in your post you left out one of the other big guys for Ryle which is Stauffer. He had 8 points so that makes the bigs combine for 19 points. Again I would say they handled Smith.

Another nice win for Boone. They are going to have a lot of momentum going into the tournament this year.

Conner at Covington Holy Cross (2/14)
Jtown replied to AirYardGo's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I've only seen Conner play once this year and that was against Holmes. They played a very slow paced game. If they play like this against Holy Cross look for this to be a very low scoring game. -
Seems like the big men for Ryle really handeled Smith. He didn't have a single point. Great win for Ryle.

Couldn't have said it any better. Holy Cross is playing very well right now. I think when they start to get back on a winning track, they will be a very hard team to beat. -
I like Newport in this one. I think their athletisism will be too much for the Cru to handle.

Covington Holy Cross @ Covington Catholic (2/6)
Jtown replied to AirYardGo's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Well sure Holmes is still the team to beat, but you act like the Scott game was just a fluke. The Scott game I think has opened people's minds because now everyone knows that Holmes can be beat. You are always acting like Holmes is a team that can't be beat. They are a very good team, but also a beatable team. -

Holy Cross should win this game, but it is very hard to go into Cov Cath and play. Holy Cross has not had much success there in the past, but I think Friday night the Indians will win a big game on the road. -
Beechwood 53 Covington Holy Cross 45
Jtown replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This was the first time I was able to see Beechwood play, and they really impressed me. Having said this, I think the Indians could have played better. If they match up with Beechwood in districts I think it will be another very close game. Holy Cross is very well coached. They will learn from their mistakes they made tonight and will give Beechwood another tough game. But, they have to get by Cov Cath first. -
Beechwood @ Covington Holy Cross (2/4)
Jtown replied to Theoldman12's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Holy Cross needs to have a strong start against Beechwood. Beechwood is too good of a team and won't let Holy Cross back in the game. Holy Cross can't let there long break of not playing hurt them. They need to come out strong and finish strong. -
I wasn't at the game, but from what I heard the sophmore Smith for Scott played very well and was on fire. If he continues to play this well I definately see Scott going to the State Tournament this year.

I think this will be a great game. Both teams match up well with each other. But I like Holy Cross in this one. I think home court advantage will be huge for them. -
I couldn't agree with you more. He forces way too many shots and doesn't use his size to his advantage.

Does anyone think that a player from Holmes could be a possible McDonalds All American within the next two years. Maybe Elijia or Rico?
-
I only dip on special occasions for a treat, and whan I go to Deja, I am definately dipping.

There was a thread a couple weeks ago where this question came up. There was no for sure answers to the question. Some people said that it would be decided over a coin toss and others said it would come to point differential.
-
I agree with you, but what do you think they should do differently instead of a district tournament?
-
Has anyone else noticed that Lloyd only has one real JV player. Four of the starters on Lloyds freshman team start on the JV team as well. Does anyone know why? Is it lack of sophmores or juniors?

Holmes v Cooper Predictions (1/29)
Jtown replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Not even dress them? This does not sound very classy. This would be like telling everyone at Cooper that they don't belong on the same floor with Holmes. Maybe they don't belong on the same floor with them, but this is still a growing program where the players need the experience of playing agaisnt the best players around. I think it would be a lot more classy to just take out the first seven players after the first quarter.
