I know I've been to the 8th for a solo game and got 2 umpires. Been to the 10th for a solo game and got one. So no idea what the common theme is.

I can take my first baseman and pitcher and rotate them throughout the game. Just can't have the same kid come back to pitch twice in an inning.

It is. 9th region only assigns one umpire to freshmen and JV games due to number of umpires and availability. The 8th region has two umpires for all levels.

As others have stated, there isn't always a field umpire. And if there is, they are occupied with other things (check swings, balks, safe/out calls, etc.) so to expect them to get every pitched counted is probably unrealistic for some. I think there are some that keep a mental count (a few may do a clicker as well) but I'm sure most don't.

A pitch count is better than inning limitations. Tracking the count will be an issue I believe. Sometimes you have 2 or 3 pitch counts in the same dugout and they never seem to match. If the designated counter is designated by the home team and has final say, what stops the potential of home cooking? (Hopefully that won't happen but is a possibility.) I can see a pitcher pitching to the top half of the order, a new pitcher coming in via position change for the bottom half, and a rotating use of them in that fashion.

Getting kids involved, involving the community, and other things all play a part IMO. I won't post again on this subject as to not take away from JB and this thread.

Congrats JB. Great coach, great staff and a great team last year. As for the other posts, wins/losses and makeup of a team don't always paint the whole story.

So is it the midnight driving or drinking and drugs that is the issue? The game being on any day of the week won't stop kids from driving drunk or high if they are going to do so. And the bigger issue is kids drinking or using drugs before driving, not the game being on a Thursday night.

Great to see everyone yesterday! And great to meet some new people in mex, adopted admiral and wireman! Awesome day of football with some good people.

Some kids also get seriously hurt playing football, maybe we should cancel the games..

Last year Dixie played in the late game and I didn't get home until after midnight and I'm sure others got home later than I did. Should they have moved that game so I could get home earlier? No. I was just thrilled Dixie was there.

LB13 walked away, so if he convened a halftime meet and greet, I'll be upset.

Looks like the tournament will end a week prior to dead period. Looks like dead period for 15-16 is June 25-July 9.

Brian's feeding tube has been removed. He is walking the hallways with help from his parents. Tentative date for him to come home is Tuesday if things keep progressing well.
