I've been on the Freedom field for over 200 games, roughly 70 of those games have been since they put turf down. I've never noticed it being too hard or carpet like. If kids are afraid to slide, it's because they don't want to get turf burn. Those same kids are probably the ones that don't want to slide on dirt either for fear of being scratched up.

Even with an infield tarp, I'm sure outfields will be soupy today.

I think football is the only sport that has to have a varsity head coach that is non-para. Any other sports can be para.

Someone said in the NCC/Trinity recap thread that NCC needs to score more than 48 in a game to be considered a threat to win it all. Well they've reached that mark with 3 minutes left in the 3rd. Go Breds!

It's a 4 day, 3 game crapshoot. Quite a few teams will have the pitching staff to get it done. No doubt Beechwood has a talented team but then again they have for the past few years. I'm not saying they won't win the region. All I'm saying is if you're going to say "Beechwood is the best and will win it" you might want to post some things to back it up.

That's some solid backup... I'm sure your English teacher can teach you about supporting your argument when defending a statement.

We get it, the 8th region is far superior to the 9th region As others have said, if you don't like it, stay home. Plan ahead, eat before you go and don't buy concessions. Personally, the prices are not an issue for me. And it's not because I'm rich, I'm not. It's because I look at the fact that I am guaranteed to get in, the seats are far more comfortable than a HS gym, more information is available through the course of the game (full scoreboard), and you can fit larger crowds into the arena. How many HS gyms could've held the crowd that was there for the 2011 4OT regional final between Dixie and NCC? The answer is 0. Why should there be a limit of 2,000 or so fans that can attend a game because it's held at a HS? There shouldn't be. Yes the arena doesn't fill up for every game but there should atleast be the ability for up to 10,000 people to attend if they want. Some of you complain "there are only 500 or 1,000 fans there for such and such game" but guess what, even at Holmes that's not an exciting crowd. I talk to quite a few players that have played regional games at NKU and guess what, they are fans of playing there. It's not changing, let's move on.

Maybe it's a school rule, I'm not sure. Just thought I had heard it.

I do not know if he is trying out this year or not. I believe state rules say that even though he is no longer on the basketball team he cannot try out until their season is over.

Congrats to the Dixie team on the W! Best of luck against St Henry tomorrow. Also, congratulations to the Ludlow Panthers for a very good year and a great game last night. He left the team.

I do think that if the max is 110, 66 may be low for 3 days rest because as stated, it may only take a few innings to get there.

When I ran clock for a few games the past few years I tried to make it a point to put everything possible on the board. Got tough at times but figured that I had a job and needed to do the best I could, plus the kids and parents appreciated it I think. Now as to that inadvertent horn I sounded once....

Hey @Clyde, am I imagining the rule that says the same kid cannot pitch twice in the same inning (i.e. starts the inning, moves to a different position, and returns to the mound later that same inning)? If not, you know where that can be found?
