No need to make the 1A teams drive across the state for the game when you have 2 teams fairly close to BG. Adjustments could make this work much better for the students and fans that will have to travel.

There will be way more 5A fans on Saturday night than there would be 1A fans on any night. This schedule was made to maximize the amount of money made in a considerably less than ideal situation. I don't fault the KHSAA - they've handled this about a well as possible. Does it inconvenience 1A and Johnson Central? Yes. But I'm guessing there are 209 schools and fan bases in Kentucky that would love to be so inconvenienced.

6A and 5A are money games no matter who plays. They are both on Saturday. 4A is a money game with South Warren playing and considering they've been #1 all year I'm sure that weighed into putting 4A on Sunday evening. 2A and 3A are big games with the right teams. Mayfield and Belfry are those teams and should have good crowds on a Sunday afternoon.

Bottom line, three schools get a somewhat poor draw. It hardly constitutes moving the games to a high school (yuck), UK (would the school or city be prepared or even want it?), or next week (this isn't the Super Bowl).

 

As with anything, WKU's success gave people an opportunity to do what they love most - complain.

Terrible for these kids in this 1a game. They deserve every much as the rest of these teams to play on the big stage, instead the get to drive clear across the state on a school/work night where schools will have to shut down early on Thursday, parents have to leave work early, and the only people in the stands will be from each school. Isnt that the reward of playing in this game, win or lose? Proves to me Tackett and the rest of the KHSAA is even more clueless and money hungry than I ever thought possible. Terrible planning, terrible solution. You can play 3 games in a day. Play 3 Saturday and Sunday. End Sunday with the 5a game. Just awful.

How can you play three games Saturday? WKU plays at noon. That game lasts four hours. Getting fans out of the stadium would take another hour. Media has work to do, TV has to deconstruct. I think starting the first game Saturday at 5 is ambitious. When would you play the third game? Midnight?

My bad, for some reason I thought the WKU game was Friday night. Still, has to be a solution better than the one they came up with. Something. Heck move it back a week. I'm guessing some teams could use a week off to heal. Instead you give one class a short week, and two teams will sit on a bus for hours there and back. Move the 1a game to Lexington. Or Georgetown College.

They earned the right to play they, not gifted it. They've earned to be treated with respect, as opposed to wedged into a time slot that even fans of the team can't make. Step up and move the game. Got news for ya, playing on westerns field is not a prize, kids could care less. Now playing at Commonwealth, that would be a treat for the and the fans. And a lot closer. If you are going to isolate them from the rest of the festivities at least give them something

Last year Dixie played in the late game and I didn't get home until after midnight and I'm sure others got home later than I did. Should they have moved that game so I could get home earlier? No. I was just thrilled Dixie was there.
