Coach Shearer is a good friend of mine and would do anything for anybody. That is the type of man I would want my son playing for. Bullitt East had Bell Co. on the ropes in the 4A Finals a couple years ago. They should make it to the Region Finals almost every year with the side of the state their on in 4A. Corbin has had troubles getting over the hump to make it to the Finals against Newport Central Catholic. They made it in 2002 and got beat badly by Breathitt Co. They haven't won a State Championship since 1982 and have had plenty of talent to do so. The "Tradition" is there and always will be, it's just a matter of getting over the hump as the thread says. St. X and Trinity will always be there unless they play each other in the Semi-Finals. Simon Kenton had a story book run, but just couldn't get over the hump once they got there. Any other thoughts? Lone Oak out West is a program on the rise as well.

Are you referring to Model's record? Who do you expect them to play, they have about 80 boys in the high school. I watched them several times this year, and they are one of the best Model teams I've seen in a very long time. I think they proved that against Southern in their district game.

They still are a team many may not want to face in the regional tournament. They actually beat a good Model team (16-9) and a Central team that faced some tough competition this year and was tournament ready. Don't count them out just yet.

Southern will definitely break the streak. Southern wins big tonight.

I don't think too many people thought it would be close based on the previous games this season between the 2. Model played very inspired and with a lot of confidence. It was a great game for fans of Richmond and Berea. Loads of talent on both teams.

They need give someone a chance! That is too much of a "Traditional" Program to not have stability. It seems to me that people will shy away from this job due to this.

Coach Hines and his staff are a great bunch of guys who would do anything for any player on the team. The youth football program is booming in Pulaski right now and they are getting the talented players they need to win 5A Football. Coach Hines uses a lot a tactics to get his team fired up and it seems to be working. Don't think for one second Johnny Hines isn't a good man or anyone else on his staff. A lot of it is mental, but Southern is the favorite this year in the 44th. They looked very impressive this summer, and have everyone back from last year's team. I watched Central play Model this summer at the Bluegrass Championship, with Central only winning by 5 and Model missing a few of their top players. I'd be surprised if Southern didn't open their new gym with a win over Central to start the season.

colonelfan- are you saying Southern should have 3 players in the top 10? I agree they will be a very good team and Roberts is very talented, but 3? Being from Richmond, I think Dennis Smith at Richmond Model will be one of the best class A players in the region.

It doesn't sound like Wiseman did his homework on the region based on his ratings. I couldn't agree more about Tates Creek. Didn't they win the AAU high school tournament at KBA this summer? Madison Central lost their top 7 players, I can't imagine them being ranked as high as 5th. Madison Southern is probably the favorite in their district and should be in the top 10.

What do schools typically look for when scheduling a Homecoming game. Usually teams want a (so called) easy opponent. I have been noticing that teams are playing a lot more tougher teams. Whats everyones take?

Corbin has had trouble in their secondary against passing teams in the past. GRC should focus on hitting the big play early. Running the football will be hard against (as always) a stingy and physical typical Corbin Defense. Corbin - 35 GRC - 21

Who were some of the top players on the Scott Co. and Madison Co. teams that did so well in the AAU national tournament? They will all be freshman this coming season.

There's no way he could live with Coach Wright and be eligible, although the KHSAA has made stranger rulings.

I don't think they will be better then the 2003 Team. Cole Draughn and Jonathan Denham were studs who led the way!

Did Coach Mefford step down as the head coach of Woodford Co.? I've heard he resigned in mid-July.
