Is the 8th region the toughest in the state?
Nice work WVFrank. This really makes winning your district very important. IF you lose you have a very tough road ahead of you getting to the finals!

Walton Verona 57 Lexington Catholic 41
There are 5 seniors all together. 2 of the 5 seniors start with 2 more playing pretty active roles off the bench. The 5th and final senior does not get to play very much.

Nice win for the Bearcats tonight. They tried to give the game back at the end but eventually hung in there. Nice games tonight for both Hargett and McNeil.

Up by 78 in the 4th and Still Pressing
Yes...it does matter. There is a right way and a wrong way to play the game. Whether or not someone is going to be "scared for life" or if people are "never going to be the same" doesn't make it right. If someone is going to press when they are up by 78 points then they should be judged. When you make dumb decisions like that.....that's what happens. I'm not real sure what Marist and UK have to do with the conversation. If UK pressed when they were up 78 points, it would be wrong no matter what the reason.

So you think it's right to press when you are up by 78 points in the 4th quarter?

Congrats to the Bearcats on a nice road win. Yes, Zach's dad did play for Conner. Sophomore guard Zach McNeil had 22 points to lead Walton-Verona. Teammates Matt Hargett 21 points and Tanner Moeves 15 points. Tanner has been playing very well the last few games. Keep up the good work Bearcats.

Campbell County 76 Walton-Verona 73 OT
You have to rebound and make free throws to win close games and the Bearcats did not do that tonight. McGovney only being a Jr. is only going to get better. Doesn't look like a player when you just see him standing there but next thing you know he has 30! Good luck to the Camels the rest of the year. If you have not seen him play he is worth the price of admission.:thumb:

Congrats to GC. How did the Dossett girls play?

Walton Verona 84 Grant County 60
Johnson was a real nice elem/middle school player. If he can continue to progress then GC may have a bright future at the point guard position. He has always been a very smart player.

Walton 38 Newport Central Catholic 36 Final All A
It's comical how a thread that was started to congratulate a team about winning and to commend another team for playing extremely hard turns into a thread about a ridiculous complaint about t-shirts. (I'm sorry they didn't have any 3x's.) The girls from WV did an excellent job. NCC played great defense - obviously the best defense that WV has faced the entire tournament. Ron Dawn is an excellent coach! Sometimes you win games that are not pretty....that is what WV did today. Great job by the girls to battle and great job by Coach Clink and the rest of the coaching staff.

Walton 38 Newport Central Catholic 36 Final All A
For you and Pauly D.....the school nor the parents had anything to do with the championship shirts. WV has a parent that owns a sporting goods store. They support WV athletics of all ages, not just the varsity. I'm pretty sure they have printed shirts that have been either thrown in the garbage or else sold at the local flee market for pennies on the dollar. If NCC would have won and their girls put on shirts when the game was over......neither one of you would have said a word. As I said before.....get over it! If you cannot find anything positive to say after a team has won a state championship then move on to another thread.
