Yes it is. My daughter started at age 3, playing with 4 and 5 year olds at OVVC on a mostly parochial kindergarten team. These kids were overhand serving and spiking by 3rd grade. We started as public, but switched to catholic early on - NOT for sports. My kid used to get a lot of love from Kordes and other coaches, until she quit growing. :lol: I miss volleyball a LOT, but she didn't have a chance at either Mercy or Assumption at 5' nuthin and 80 pounds. I will confirm one thing. It was all parochial school kids there, even at an early age whe anyone could just show up and be put on a team. I don't recall more than a handfull of public kids there, though I think more play club ball these days. My kid's 8th grade class had 16 girls, and 15 played volleyball. The other was a state champion gymnist.

If it goes chalk, you may be right. IF it happens that way, it will be a closer game than the rest this season. Mercy has won all four matches against SHA season, tough to beat someone 5 times. It will pair two brothers coaching against each other for the 1st time for the title, IF it happens that way. Mercy lost one of it's best players last week (hopefully temporarily) in Madison Hardy, but Freshman Lauren Schneidtmiller has stepped in with two remarkable games in her absence.

Please post any info on the injured PRP player if anyone gets it. It sounded serious.

Oxnard, I haven't been able to listen and haven't seen you mention Matt Brutcher's name. Did he start/play at QB or was he out for tonight's game?

Fottball wise, he's going to redshirt this season, mainly for technique reasons. He's one of 6 true freshman that have not played this year. He is loving school up there. I saw him several times when I took my daughter for a visit this past summer. We were sitting at the next table in the cafeteria (not by coincidence) with Brandon and his teammates. He was having a blast at lunch that day. He was always smiling every time I saw him that week. Other students have said he's soaking up the ND experience, which was a big reason he went there anyway, not just for football.

We're a Mercy family, and I wondered the same thing. Maybe cathloic school folks are tired of causing a public vs private debate on every thread we enter. I know it crosses my mind before I post.

Montano has more "quicks" than folks realize. I see him factoring in quite nicely next season.

I think Mercy had a little something to do with that performance too. It wasn't a fluke, and it was the 2nd time they beat them this year. And Mercy started off really bad I thought, certainly not their best possible performance. They did that in Florida.

I forgot that one. I was thinking about early in the movie when he's younger and showing his friend a Rockne pre-game speech that he's memorized. A lot of action and fast talking, that's the one I envisioned.

How serious did the injury to the Butler player look? What happened?

I think Florida and Cali are strong, but don't know how many they have. Cali has historically been one of the strongest areas. Assumpton just did very well in a Cali tourney, but lost to #1 team in the US while beating everyone else. Mercy just won the Berkeley tourney in Florida, absolutely pounding the US #2 team from Plant. I don't think they scored more than 15 points in any match.

And we're glad Tim Phillips is as well. He didn't have a great game last week, but he'll be back with a vengeance next time. Tim scares me as much as Brohm did when he gets the ball.

Central worries me because they hit so hard, and I'm worried about injuries. That's where Deuce got hurt last season. They don't give up they some others when they are down big. They keep hittin ya.

They can still wear the banana's whether their home or away I would think. They certainly aren't going to get confused with the other team.

That's if you don't lose earlier in the playoffs. That's what I mean by guaranteed. As hard as it is to believe, X and T aren't guaranteed their spot in the finals. They have to win a few games to get there. I have to have next years vacations in by the end of this month. If I lived out of town, I would know for a fact they will face each other during the season next year, not so much in the playoffs.

True. As a fan with no family on the team, I'm not even celebating this win, not until they get the next one.

Final. Rebel, you asked a question in the update thread before it was closed: "Why is the attendance more than when these two teams play for the State Title? I would think the State Championship game would have been higher in attendance." The answers are many. 1) Mainly, this game date is set in stone every year, and folks plan vacations to come back to Louisville to see it. The playoff games are not guaranteed, and I don't know if dates are set a year ahead. Military set their leave to see the game, some parachial schools close early too. 2) Weather is better, and more condusive for tailgaiting. It's really a lot like a reunion in the parking lot. 3) It's a self fullfilling prophecy, this 1st game. Because the crowds are big, more want to be part of it, which makes the crowds bigger. 4) There are many public school kids here too. The boys are there for the girls, and vice versa. 5) It's the first meeting since the previous seasons meeting in the playoff, and people look for to the 1st meeting.

So where exactly did all that come from? Seems kinda far fetched to me. Did the clock actually stop then, cause I don't remember it? I saw gesturing for a TO I thought, but the clock didn't stop, so I assumed I was mistaken. I know they were getting lots of folks in the game, and the last TD was just a simple pitch to a 4th string RB who happened to take it for 61 yards. He should have been tackled, and time would have run out soon thereafter.

On one hand, it's the first game that really doesn't matter, so that gives the edge to St X. :mad: But after seeing Trinity vs Cincy X, they seem to be further along with their schemes than they normally are when we face them. Their defense is very fast and their D line ran through Cincy X OL like water through a seive. Hopefully all those 300 pounders were just slow and our OL will fare much better. After seeing several X games, I still don't know where we stand. I can't get a handle on the substitution patterns used so far with the QB and RB. I don't know what we'll do in a close game. Not playing Male really hurt us I think. I'm pulling hard for X and assume we'll win every game, but I'm not sure how to call this one yet. On paper, Trinity has the edge based on who they've got coming back and who they've beat. But we did just route the #3 team in Manual 57-0, sooooo.

Final! Tried to get the final in the updates before it was locked, but X added a late TD on a pitch to Chase Carraro that went for 61 yards down the sideline.
