miragesmack Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Final! Tried to get the final in the updates before it was locked, but X added a late TD on a pitch to Chase Carraro that went for 61 yards down the sideline.

THEGREENDANDY Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Manual played hard. Nice win Tigers.
ram2003 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Except for the shutout, not too surprising.
fballman007 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Tigers look ready good luck to both teams next week.
RowdyRedRam Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I'm disappointed but not completely shocked. I didn't go to this game (thank god) but the paper said Manual had seven turnovers, you can't turn the ball over seven times and expect not to get blown out. I didn't feel like we were really any better on offense than last year when X shut us out twice and our defense lacks the talent of some past teams. Even without going to the game I feel like Manual would be capable of playing better but I don't think they have enough to beat X. I still look for them to run the table on the rest of the competition, with Male being the most difficult hurdle.
THEGREENDANDY Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 The Manual cheering section on the St.X side went silent.
tabman Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 (edited) Except for the shutout, not too surprising. The most surprising thing was that coach N. was not able to take another bad loss very gracefully. He seems to always have an excuse. How long will the alumni put up with his attitude?, Or do they care? Edited October 1, 2008 by Ram Rule 13

How long will the alumni put up with his attitude?, Or do they care? Comments from coach Nichols "I didn't think it would be this bad, but it just snowballed on us," he said. "Our kids know we got beat, but I don't think we got our butts kicked. … We just have to find some people to step up." "We have to find some offensive linemen," Nichols said. "Our defense played well, but we just turned the ball over. Joey couldn't get in a rhythm because he was on his back. Even when he had time he was looking around because he was paranoid." I really sorry he offended you so much with his excuses bronco7, the problem is I can't tell what the heck you are talking about. When you lose 0-57 let me see how you react. Why do you have such a problem with a coach Nichols?? Because he usually competes! Try to win as though you have an ounce of class and worry about your own staff, we are happy with ours. Manual vs St X before Nichols 1994 13-56 1995 7-47 1996 0-41 1997 14-55 1998 29-32 1999 14-42 2000 0-31 Manual vs St X with coach Nichols 2001 20-26 2002 6-10 2003 0-21 2004 14-28 2005 7-17, 18-33 2006 6-20, 9-39 2007 14-21, 7-27 2008 0-57

How long will the alumni put up with his attitude?, Or do they care? Nichols is tied for 2nd most wins at Manual, has a 64% winning percentage, better that any coach there since the early seventies, since Manual became a magnet school and Ypas no other coach was above .500 and two of the the last 3 head coaches before Nichols are currently helping Nichols. Are you mad that he doesn't praise a coach that calls timeout with 2 minutes left on a running clock to score again, or has the coaches in the box wanting the clock stopped after that touchdown for yet another possible score. Is he supposed to praise a coach that makes up little nicknames for our coaching staff and ridicules them to his players, and tells his team if they don't win 60-0 he will be upset. Our alumni don't have a reason to be displeased, and sportsmanship is a two way street.

So where exactly did all that come from? Seems kinda far fetched to me. Did the clock actually stop then, cause I don't remember it? I saw gesturing for a TO I thought, but the clock didn't stop, so I assumed I was mistaken. I know they were getting lots of folks in the game, and the last TD was just a simple pitch to a 4th string RB who happened to take it for 61 yards. He should have been tackled, and time would have run out soon thereafter.

Bear78 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 The kid showed good speed. Getting routed by a school you don't like will bring out the sour grapes. I'm not sure its sour grapes as much as frustration with the perceptions about Manual and other public school programs. X & T get the talent they want, much more of a complete package than any public school has assembled this year. How many lineman comparible to X's can be found at YPAS? X could easily field two teams that could compete with most 6A schools and probably another in the 3A or 4A area. X has a good team this year and will likely comptete for the title. I know some of the kids on the team and they are good kids! With all they have going for them why do they play like they have a chip on their shoulder? Did the score really need to be 57-0?
