Frankfort, Franklin Co and Woodford Co all tied at 3-2. Frankfort only team that controls own destiny and is No. 1 seed with win over Woodford next Saturday. Franklin top seed with Woodford win over Frankfort and win over Western Hills. Woodford top seed with win over Frankfort and Western Hills beating Franklin. Not sure it matters come district time as all teams are fairly equal on any given night.

Are they going to try to double up and complete tournament tomorrow, or will it move into Sunday?

According to the newspaper story this morning, 2 players (including Napier) quit plus there was a verbal incident between Davis and another player. They were escorted to the locker room for a while and returned to the bench, but didn't play after the incident. Last year, Lafayette had great talent and was very successful. Maybe this year is proving it was simply that great talent and not the coaches that made the difference. Seems the choice of Coldiron last year not working out like the Lafayette faithful would have hoped. Plus, his new assistants this year seem a bit puzzling.

Mike Smith of Sayre is one of the best young guards in the state. I wasn't at the game, but why does the officials have to be blamed. Instead realize Smith probably was just simply better on this night.

If a jv coach is ejected from the jv game, does he have to sit out of the varsity game that follows directly or the next jv game? Same question with middle school, if a 7th grade coach is ejected does he have to sit out of the 8th grade game, or the next 7th grade game (the middle school conference follows KHSAA rules)?

The district this year is WIDE OPEN. There is still a chance all 4 teams could finish 3-3 against each other during the regular season. But, no matter the seeding come district tournament time, I think it is realistic to think any of the 4 can come out on top.

This was one of the craziest I have witnessed. Franklin County did jump ahead 20-0 with 6 three pointers and I don't think any even hit the rim. But, by halftime, the game was tied at 31. I have seen teams win games from 22 down (it was 27-5 when Frankfort hit a 3 in the final seconds of the first quarter), but I am not sure I have seen a team down 22 late first quarter tie the game by half. Frankfort is 10-5 after winning 10 games all of last season.

I believe Levitch is a sophomore.

Not a bad list above but Martin has to be top 10 without a doubt. i like Snider as the top player but Davis as the top prospect in the class. Craig Owens Trinity, Chris Roberts Franklin County, Charles Snoop Johnson Lafayette and Dylan Portwood, Christen Cunningham and Trenton Gilbert of Scott County are all pretty good. I know Moss in Bowling Green had a couple of real good 8th graders last year. Not sure if they are making impact this year.

You probably need to look at the number of seniors on Frankfort's Squad...they are anything but young!

Not sure what coach looks comfortable losing a 9 point lead with 4 minutes left...no matter if they are a first year coach or about to retire!

Woodford County actually lost by 2 and 1 to Franklin County the last two games they played last year, so I think they already had their attention before Friday night.

I highly doubt Wise would have guaranteed Frankfort will win the district. Like everybody else in the district, he knows Franklin County is the favorite until somebody knocks them off. But, the district is not played until the end of February anyway. Regular season games set the seeding, but the district is probably as close from top to bottom as it has been in years so anything can happen in late February.

Sounds like someone expects Montgomery to take the air out of the ball.

I personally think the spin move is missed a lot -- some called walks when not and vice versa. I think officials sometimes get caught up in the quickness of a spin move as opposed to watching their feet. If it is a slow spin, walk seems to get called. If it is a quick spin, no call most of the time. John Wall last year at KY is a perfect example of this. He often walked on a spin move by the interpretation of the rules, but he is lightning quick and it was seemingly never called a walk.

Re-read my post above. I said to say they are the SAME TEAM is ludicrous. And, I also admitted I know nothing about them so I was by no means saying they wouldn't be good this year. But, anytime you lose a kid of Polson's stature, you simply aren't the SAME TEAM.

Really? The same solid team. Last I checked, their meal ticket is now playing UK. Not trying to say they won't be good (I really have no idea), but to say it is the same team is ludicrous.

Richardson saw only blowout minutes last year. But, I do agree that Scott County should have more experience that Ballard, who started two freshman and had a sophomore as the 6th man. From what I heard, these 3 kids also started JV. Ballard must be looking to get them as much as experience as possible, but all 3 (Snider, Martin and Lewis) are very talented.

For some reason, the last game of the day was not on the net. Admittedly, I didn't see all the games, but I think it would have been hard pressed to top this one for excitement. Frankfort made a layup with four seconds left to come away with a 56-55 win over Pendleton County.

There were more people than that. Not a packed house of course but 100ish or more for each game. Each school is charged an amount and has the ability the earn the money back by selling tickets. I would say all teams lost a little bit of money but the amount each school had to pay probably covered KBA rental expenses.

I don't know the whole story here, but if what was posted above is true, I sincerely doubt Catholic is saying he can't go to school there. They are simply saying he can't play basketball and I commend them for that. He turned his back on them by transferring out of state so why should they open the door back open. How is that fair ... especially to the rest of the team?

I don't believe it is Catholic's choice here. Just because they released him doesn't mean he's eligible elsewhere. KHSAA rules say you have to have a legitimate change of address or sit out a year. So to play this year he has to move, although I am not sure how any move would be deemed legitimate at this point and only for purposes of sports so KHSAA could still rule him ineligible. If he doesn't move and wants to play I would think he would sit out this year and play at Bryan Station next year.

I heard last night that he was supposed to have a meeting at Catholic today.
