As talented a group as I have seen at WV but young.

The Bearcats should be better this year.Key is going to be line play on both sides. Offensively they need to move people better this year and defensively they need to occupy blockers and let the Lb's play free.

Walton should be better this year they lost some quality backs but have a talented youngsters coming up.

Long over due recognition for them, congrats!

Great win for NCC but I was impressed by the team speed of Danville. They seemed to control the whole game till the very end where NCC ralliied. Good game to both teams but I think NCC will have to be more creative offensively to beat Mayfield.

Walton can't control their district schedule, they have to play those. The games they schedule!ed were all non gimmie teams whom they would be matched with a tough opponent. Schedule wise I don't see them with schedule that does not prepare them for the playoff's. That was the point and the point I thought you were making. When they played LCA, they were ranked higher than Lloyd in 2A in the state. Lloyd has some great talent this year and is a good ball club but I would be not looking past Walton at home.

You said schedule and not wins by WV. They were in every game with the exception of Henry. This is a young team and were still trying to figure themselves out and I believe have come light years from the start with lessening mistake and learning how to win. I think Lloyd is in a dog fight with any of the those four teams and definitely not a guaranteed win for them. By the way don't discount t New Richmond they two platoon and have a good skill and line players.

Too bad I thought he brought Owen County up. Best to coach and his future plans.

Not philosophy which has not changed since the beginning. Personal and plays changed but not much. As I said before the season started this is a young group learning. They have been continually improving all season.

No change in philosophy. Game was played in a monsoon and negated Walton's speed. Henry was by far the strongest most physical team Walton has played. They have a nice team.

Broken plays resulted in some of their best plays of the night. #2 for Newport is a young good player. Walton will need to start quicker against the Juggs next week.

Nice effort by the Bearcats and this was one of the best teams they played all year. New Richmond was solidly coached and executed well. They were able to two platoon running fresh players out there the whole game. Officiating was struggled at some crucial points but WV had their chances. Good game to get them ready for the playoffs.

I am interested to see who comes out on top in this match up.

Walton wins the district title back to back years! Now onto a tough New Richmond team to prepare for the playoffs.

"Word of our demise has been greatly exaggerated". Young team still learning how to win. They improve every week but still a ways to go.

That's the thing about young teams...unpredictable sometimes in a good way sometime not so good. It's the price of learning how to play the game and how to win at the varsity level. Tonight they figured it out! Great win for the young Bearcats! They comeback from being two scores down in the second half and go for two to take the lead 28-27 with 120 left in the 4th I believe. LCA shows no quit and marches the ball down the field with no timeouts to the Bearcat 20 yard line or so. t Halsey Paige then makes an interception to ice the game.

Of course they would be better but the question was not if they would be better but beating New Cath and Beechwood consistently. The answer is no but none of the schools mentioned have been playing football as long as New Cath or Beechwood. Have you ever driven from Gallatin or worse Owen to Walton in the winter time in inclement weather? From either area it is a long drive with good weather. Not practical option for the most part but from Grant maybe but from there if you are motivated that much by football you have alot of options. Walton has had players from Grant before and currently do. It is going in the right direction but it will take time and building of alumni to do it. This year the level is down and the schedule was tougher to combine for a rough start. They will be fine, this freshman class is very good and could be one of the best ever.

Just curious where do you think they should be? They are seventh year of Varsity football with no tradition of playing fooball. Obviously they were not known for playing football. They started with kids who did not know how to put on a football uniform or get in a stance of any kind. They have no football alumni that isn't only a year or two out of college now. They have had five players go on to play at the next level four NAIA and one playing D1. They have been to a regional final losing to the state champions that year. They have been in the playoffs every year with the exception of their first district year. They have had a top ten defense and offense in 2a almost every year. The road ran through Beechwood when they were in 1a and now through Newport Central Catholic two long time state champions or finalist every year. Not a bad start in my opinion. I am also curious also about drawing kids from Grant, Gallatin and Owen. Do you think that if an allstar team of composed of the best players of each would consistently beat Beechwood and Newport Central Catholic?

They are very strict with students from outside the district. They don't take alot and being good a football is not an exemption to their out of district student standards. Far from underachieving though with the program.

Totally disagree with this. Walton had two td's called back on "phantom" holding calls, at least two fumbles, interception for a td, and then a double personal foul that extended a HC drive for a touchdown that was questionable. This game could have gone the other way just as easily. It didn't and Walton did not execute well enough but to say this was not as close as it was is silly.

Would seem like a good match up on the surface.
