Interesting to see that Walton's defense and NCC defense gave up very similar amount of yards. 287 for WV and 256 for NCC. Newport gave up 148 yards against the HC. All goes back to it's all about match ups and hard to compare mutual scores. Thanks again to nkypete! Great stats!

I accept the fact you think Newport is a better team but a blow out? Come on everyone on here even the Newport fans aren't expecting that. Sounds like you have an ax to grind with Walton. First game was tight and Latimore had 100 plus yards in a half of football. If you knew what your watching David Carr was double and triple teamed most of the night because they could not handle him one on one. Good planning on their part. Sorry I am not being mean it just coming out that way.

Yes but styles make games. Holy Cross was able to hold the ball for a long time but only managed 7 points on the first team all game. Totally different game plan employed by Newport.

Yes I would agree. Most good teams have gotten better since the first couple of games. I have been waiting for this rematch and I going to enjoy watching this one.

Hats off to the Holy Cross coaching staff and players who came out with a good offensive game plan to tonight. They played hard and did not give up. Walton advances to play Newport, I have been eager for this rematch.

I believe there isn't a big spread between the teams in the east as there has been in the past.

Their kicker has a huge leg, can hit from 45+. Not a issue for them anymore but strength.

Maybe or maybe not but the teams around them aren't as well. Very hard to compare teams of different eras or years.

I have seen most of the top teams play in the east and I think Walton can play with any of them. I have only seen CAL play in the west so I am not as informed on those teams. I personally don't like this thread and would like to get by Holy Cross first.

Bunch of people involved in the start up and success of the program from the top down. Yes the Walton and Verona areas are growing, changing from rural to suburbs.

I would not pencil NCC in the semis just yet.

Compton finishes the night with 178 yards and Latimore with 129 yards rushing. Whitman held to 98 yards of rushing.

Holy Cross is up next and WV has focus and not look past that game. This game was played in less than ideal conditions which probably favored LCA. Bearcats did a nice job of adjusting to game conditions.

Nice win for the Bearcats over a quality team. Bearcats were suffering from bus lag to start the game but then ran off 27 unanswered points after getting down 14-0.
