I think this thread should be in the Hall of BGP Classics.

I just don't understand why Newport and NCC have to share waterboys? Same thing with Holmes and Holy Cross. I've even heard that Holy Cross, on occasion, has used waterboys on the other side of the Licking River. I guess the Indians are afraid that if the lights go out at Holmes, nobody will be able to find where the water is!

uk#1fan has been busy so I am going to help him out.

Who do you think is the top returning waterboy in 2012?

Simon Kenton has two kids coming back who helped with water last year, including a freshman that can carry a cooler of gatorade with his teeth. Can you say stud?!!

Just heard the Freshman is realy a hold back and my not be able to carry the water as a Senior.

Would someone care to start a Thread specifically for "Highlands offseason Waterboy updates" ?

Nah, no need to. The Bird fans will own this thread soon enough.

I don't know if it is the same way in NKY as it is where I am, but I personally am a little tired of seeing undeserving upperclassmen get more water carries than some talented underclassmen. The best waterboy should get the most carries. There are too many politics determining who gets to carry the water around here.

A couple of questions for the NKy folks...

Why would Campbell County even NEED waterboys? Seems like a waste of resources considering who they are.And doesn't DIXIE have an unfair advantage over other schools who probably don't have the same free access to quality drinking cups?

True, but we are selfish with our water boys nonetheless. That's why we refused to share with Brossart even after we charged them a small fortune to share in the past.

I agree and besides we have a lot of waterboys who've been lettering as freshmen. What are the requirements to letter as a water boy? Is it a percentage of quarters spent rehydrating, the number of hydrations per game or the amount of cups of water/gatorage distributed?

I've heard that a certain teams waterboy has a advantage over all the other waterboys because they have enough cups to go both ways, between water and Gatorade. All the other waterboys have to use their cups over and over, and by the 4th. quarter they become weak and can't hold any liquid. You heard it hear first.... aqua advantage!

Nice! This may be my favorite thread ever on BGP!

Wow...that IS really selfish; I learned in school camels could go MONTHS without needing even a drop.

From what I understand it is based on the gallons of liquid dispensed and it is much more important at practice as the water boy's dispense more water at practices than at games, thus no fans sees the hard work that the water boys do! Remember, more water is drunk at practices than at games because of the number of players practicing is larger than play the games!

Their is not a football player worth his salt that gives a water boy a bad time, at least in the hot summer months of two a days, as giving the water boys a bad time could mean drinking warm dirty water rather than cold clean water!!!

It is know amongst water boys as "The water boys revenge"!!!!

It is, so selfish the Camel administration wouldn't even let the C.C. Red Devils share their water supply. Just kicked them out after 30 years I hear.

It has now been confirmed that Covington Catholic will not have lights on their football field in 2012. Joe Krutzenbauer, who lives on the hill above the field, told the waterboys that water conducts electricity and all talk of installing lights was immediately stopped. Shocking, isn't it? :D

The secret to Highlands' success: Our waterboys just work harder. It's as simple as that.
