Madison Central 78 Trinity 77

Featured Replies

Reality is MC 78 Trinity 77......that is a win, not a steal!!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

My question is- did the better team truly win this game? I don't think anyone can say that based on the conclusion of the game.

Hopefully they will get a chance to meet again and settle the debate with quality referees.

The three fouls called on Trinity were legit. Everyone wants to talk about the last play. IMO the bad foul was when Trinity fouled Hawkins in transition, up 4, with under 10 seconds to go. The ball game should have been over but Trinity chose to press and the kid flat ran over Hawkins, from behind. Also, IMO...all 3 fouls were legit. Kid from Trinity kept Taylor from jumping directly influencing the play. Lastly, how come no one has mentioned Hicks missing two free throws with five seconds left? Just a complete disaster for Trinity in the last 11 seconds.

After watching the play, you are correct. There was a foul; however, it was a foul on the Madison Central player. Dieudonne clearly has inside position on the ball and is backing up to make the interception when the Madison Central player jumps over his back.

Horrible way to steal a game from a team!

The reality is- referees should NEVER decide a game and they do and one team gets screwed and in this case it was Trinity!

However, I still have to give Madison Central credit for a great game.

Alright after watching that.......that was unreal how poor the officiating was. I don't know if the officials face some form of discipline, but they should. Horrific.

There is no way with a sound mind, that you could say that the last play was a foul. Heck the rebound of the Hicks' missed FT wasn't even a foul. The trip was questionable, but I'll give them the benefit. Taylor didn't even feel he was fouled. Come on bro, take the glasses off.

The Dunbar fans and players are crying about their loss at Boyle County yesterday also. Claiming they were cheated by the officials. Utter stupidity, IMO.

You're right, Trinity missed opportunities to ensure that they controlled the outcome. They didn't capitalize on those, and then the refs took over. Trinity can only be mad at themselves, us fans, different story. I want good officiating regardless of the outcome.

Montgomery just hosts this event. Ira Combs runs it... invites the teams... and sets up the referees. He is a mountain guy and brings in one or two 14th region crews to work games in the event every year.

We all want good refereeing but those guys are human. If they think by see a foul they have to blow the whistle whether we agree with them or not. I wouldn't want their job for any salary.

This loss should make Trinity even better, IMO. Could be a blessing in disguise.

This sums up how I'd feel about it. I think both of those last calls on Trinity were incredibly questionable. I had pictured something more like a foul where he jumping to the rim on the last one. From where he was, there is literally no way he could have scored the basket in the time they had except to draw that foul. But for the team the reality is that if you play in a manner to allow the game to be taken from you, you have to look internally.

The trip is very obviously a foul. But I agree on the Hicks missed ft foul, but why even try to rebound that, Trinity is up 4 with 5 secs left so why even risk it? Without this foul the game is over! Officiating was very questionable but Trinity put themselves in a position for a whistle to beat them.

Best team won the game...final score not changed...move on tothe next game and quit crying......

Well I am a football guy by far and don't pay much attention to b-ball. Hopped on here to see what the deal was after reading the paper. After watching the video, it is clear. Refs gave the game Madison Central. No big surprise although I thought we only got jacked in football. I was wrong. Hopefully we won't see any of that nonsense in Rupp, but I won't count on it.

The city boys vs the country boys conundrum continues.

You gave the game away when Hicks missed 2 free throws with 5 seconds left.
