You should believe him. NCF has a network of friends to send him games on film, and he watches entire days of HS games on TV as well. The guy lives and breaths HS football. I don't doubt it at all.

 

Exactly, you don't have to be in attendance to watch a game now days. The fact that someone would question that is just silly.

I watched this one and going into it I thought it was going to be another Mayfield win.

I was rooting for Hazard and I think most of the neighbor knew this the way I was yelling when they would score or come up with a big play.

All I can say is "Congratulations" to the Hazard Bulldogs. You wanted that game and then went out there and executed flawlessly (that's how it looked to me), and definitely deserve to be called Champions. The Cardinal defense was amazing again, but by the end of the game....worn completely out! The inability of our offense to do anything because of turnovers (all credit going to the Hazard defense) kept our defense on the field for a large percentage of the game. Great win Bulldogs!

Congrats to the Hazard Bulldogs on a State Championship and on representing Eastern Kentucky. I predicted Mayfield in this one and will gladly take my serving of crow. Congrrats again. :thumb:

Congratulations to Hazard! They had a great game plan and they executed it. Mayfield has a D1 recruit in Jonathon Jackson at RB and he had 3 carries in the second half prior to the last drive of the game. Hazard was doing a great job on defense but when your offense is all about your RB you can't stop giving him the ball. So you put the game in the hands of your sophomore QB who wasn't even starting at the beginning of the year and Hazard picked him off all the way to the victory.

Jackson was playing with a torn meniscus and let's be honest ... he may very well be a Division I linebacker, but he isn't a Division I running back. Guhy started the preseason scrimmage and all 15 games during the season.

I played a whole season with a torn meniscus, it hurts, but it does not hamper your playing ability. Just saying.

 

To me it looked like he was playing very well on defense with the injury. And, I agree, D1 LB, probably not a D1 RB.

I don't think he will see the field on offense in college. I don't agree about the torn meniscus. Your play is affected when you can't cut like before. That being said I don't think it would have mattered if he didn't have the torn meniscus. Hazard's D-line was that good.

Say what you want but it was obvious to me Jackson wasn't playing up to speed and you can check the game update thread to see my comments. To someone who had not seen him before, he still looked good. To someone who had seen Jackson before, the difference was obvious. There were many plays on defense that went for 5 yard+ gains by Hazard that Jackson stuffs at the line when healthy. There were many runs on offense where he clearly couldn't plant, cut and explode through an opening like he would when healthy. That half step and loss of cutting ability made a big difference. :thumb: You are spot on! Might not have made a difference in the outcome, but it would most certainly would have made a difference in the game. Hazard DID NOT see the real J. Jackson, or Labront Scott for that matter.

After we lost to Hazard in the region final I told one of the coaches I thought Hazard would win it all. He agreed with me while others laughed. I just felt Hazards defense was very solid and fast and would give anyone trying to run fits. Congrats Bulldogs and I hope we meet again next year! You have become our measuring stick at the Burg.
