  1. Need to check your information. Hazard has lost to Somerset who is 8-2 and a top team in 2A by 8 pts. on the road ; Breathitt County who is 10-0 and a top team in 3A by 8 pts. at home; and Lexington Christian who is 5-5 and been in the top 10 in 2A most of the season by 7 pts on the road. Three losses to three quality teams. Teams that will all do well in the playoffs. Hazard has had a lot of injuries over the season, but are starting to get healthy at the right time. My advice to Williamsburg and Fairview is play them one game at a time. Take that from a team that's actually been there before. Good luck to all teams!
  2. Your welcome. Honestly, I don't believe their are many Hazard folks that post on this site.
  3. I'll give this a shot. On Offense, the Bulldogs were hit hard by graduation particularily on the OL. Hazard had an all senior OL which was a big part of their success last season. The Bulldogs return E. Whitaker at QB, Olinger at WR, Johnson at WR, and Jones at HB. Olinger and Johnson are proven and will provide Coach Dixon good senior leadership. Whitaker should only get better with a year under his belt running the offense, and Jones is an up and comer with tremendous potential. The young linemen are working hard in the weight room and will improve as the season progresses. Coach Fugate is the OC and has had tremendous offensive teams over the last several years. Offensively, the Bulldogs will get better and better as the OL gets more experience. On Defense, the Bulldogs return 7 starters. They return DT R. Whitaker, ILB Meehan, OLB Roll, CB Higgins, CB Olinger, FS Johnson and OLB Jones. Gone are Combs and Blanton but Hazard returns all of their DB's who were tremendous in the state title game versus Mayfield. The Defense really led this team last year and if they can find replacements for Combs and Blanton should be very good again in 2012. Coach Dixon always coaches a hardnose, aggressive defense and nothing will change in 2012. The Bulldogs will be young on the OLine to start the season with a lot of experience at the skill positions. The Defense should be very good again in 2012. The schedule will be very challenging. Coach Dixon always plays lots of kids. Though young, the returning players have lots of experience playing in the last 2 Class A State Championships. Come playoff time, the Bulldogs will be in the hunt to defend their Championship. Good Luck to everyone in 2012.
  4. I've tried all weekend to ignore some of the post on here concerning injured players for Mayfield during the championship game. To be fair, most of these posts haven't been made by Mayfield fans and for the most part, the Mayfield folks have been nothing but a class act in congratulating our Bulldogs on the championship victory. Does any one on here really think Hazard was completely healthy for this game? Zach Blanton played this game with two injured shoulders and cramps in both legs. Austin Johnson has played the last three weeks with a strained achilles. Josh Meehan played with a broke hand in a cast the last three weeks. And there are several other players who were injured in some form or another. So give the Mayfield was injured crap a rest. Everyone is banged up after playing a full 14/15 game season. Hazard was simply the better coached and prepared team this year. Just as Mayfield was last year. I want to congratulate Mayfield on a tremendous season and great run over the last 2 years. Also, Congratulations to the Hazard Bulldogs, 2011 Class A State Football Champions! No one will ever be able to take that away from you guys!
  5. This comment is uncalled for. Did you see a Hazard player, in his jersey, pull the fire alarm. I can assure you no player pulled the fire alarm.
  6. Pikeville defeated Hazard 42-6 during the regular season in 2006. Three weeks later Hazard kicks a last second fg to win the District Championship 15-14.
  7. Congratulations to Coach Haywood and I commend the Pike Co. BOE for honoring their Hall of Fame Coach. I never really understood the value of naming something after someone has passed. Hope Coach Haywood and his family enjoy this honor together.
  8. Played against Coach Haywood's Prestonsburg teams a long time ago and have watched his Belfry teams over the years. A Roy Walton deciple and Hall of Famer. First class person and first class coach. Congratulations from all your friends and fans from Hazard. Personally, I hope he coaches long enough that the wins record will never be broken again.
  9. Hazard only has 9 games scheduled. Very unlikely to pickup a 10th game with the season getting ready to start.
  10. Check WYMT television web site. Look for Sports Overtime link.
  11. I can assure you that I am not a hot chick, haha, and I agree with you that Hazard is probably the favorite.
  12. With all due respect, silly thread Guru. Of course LCA has a chance against Hazard. 1) They're the defending champs. The defending champs aren't going to go down easy. 2) Games aren't played on paper they're played on the field. 3) These two teams know each other very well. Played in last four semi-state games . This will be the sixth game against each other in four years. 4) HHS may have a home field advantage since the home team has won every game in the series. Although, Hazard played a very talented LCA State Champion team to the wire last year in the Semi's. This will be an excellent game. IMO, any team in the Semi's is fully capable of winning a state chamionship.
