State Finals games.....

Am I missing something on the format of the games? What's the reasoning behind 1A, 2A, and 6A on Friday and the others on Saturday? Why wouldnt they do a mega card on Saturday and play 2,4 and 6?

5A is the marquee game for these championships in terms of attendance. You know, hometown team? Bowling Green is going to bring the house for that one.

No they have some sort of rotation. Who knows how the figure it.

They have 1 and 2 on Fridays because of the small crowds they typically bring. It helps with WKU classes and parking. Others they rotate in some fashion.

Under the current format, 5A and 6A are scheduled to be the night games because they're expected to be bigger draws. It's interesting, however, that the 2A game today outdrew the 6A game by 386 fans.

What was the attendance? Do they clear the stadium between games? Unfortunately I had to work and couldn't go.

I was at the 6A game tonight and was surprised at the low attendance - #1 team in the Nation.

Attended the 2A game last season with Owensboro Catholic & NCC - that 2A game seemed like far more in attendance then the big game tonight.

It surprises me that Trinity with the size of the school and the success of the school , that the fans do not travel better. Heck , it's only about 2 hrs. at the most for them to drive to Western.

Not overly surprised really. Holy Cross was in their first state championship for football and have pretty good support in the 6 game every one knew it wouldn't be much of a game. So lot's of Trinity folks there and people that wanted to see what a #1 team in the nation looks like.

And some of us had vehicular troubles that prevented our attending.

Forgive some of us. We had to work and couldn't make it, despite our best intentions. Friday night OOT games are really hard to get to. Not all of us can take off work.

I'd say most expected a blow out. Which is why I didn't go.

Forgone conclusions....

6A had Scott County and Trinity both 2+ hour drives. 2A had Glasgow. 30 minute drive. The "casual" fan is more likely to make a 30 minute drive. Not very interesting at all.

All Tell, Holy Cross had a 4 hour drive and had a sizeable crowd as well.
