That's what I think. Otherwise, 'Bama is a lock. The only way they could end up not making it is if they win the west and get knocked off by Georgia.

 

The BCS is a spectacle. The way things have played out, LSU actually has a tougher road to secure a title berth than Alabama, IMO. They may have been better off losing that game in hindsight.

 

The Pac-10 might be able to put together an all-star team and give LSU or Alabama a close game.

 

I wholeheartedly agree with all of that. It is ironic, and it shows just how crazy this year has been. I would not be surprised if you see some revisions in the process following this year, like you used to every year people weren't 100% satisfied with the process.

I posted the information about the tiebreaker upthread, but I'll rehash it a bit here.

 

In this scenario, we're assuming that Arkansas beats LSU and LSU drops behind both Alabama and Arkansas. At that point, which one is higher in the BCS becomes irrelevant. The three team tiebreaker says that the highest ranked team in the BCS goes to the title game unless the second highest team is five or less spots behind them in the BCS. If that is the case, it reverts to head to head between those two teams only. So since Alabama beat Arkansas, it won't matter which one is in front of the other since there is no way Alabama falls more than five spots behind Arkansas without a loss to Auburn which would make this moot anyway.

I think it is pretty obvious now after 5 straight years of SEC domination that will likely culminate in a sixth year that will feature the unbelievable scenario of two teams from the SEC west battling for the title...

 

The SEC Champion should be declared National Champion and they should have a BCS Title game for the other conferences.

 

Seriously, just like the big conferences have automatic BCS bids, I think the SEC should have an automatic BCS Title Game bid.

I say put Houston in the national title game.

Randy, Bama has had time to win a few games as other teams lost, LSU doesn't. They would have better off to lose to Bama and work their way back in. Now if LSU loses a very close game as we did that might help them, LSU just win out, they have that chance.

If Arkansas goes on to beat UGA after beating LSU, I make it LSU/Arkansas. Should they lose to UGA, it's LSU/Alabama.

 

It's not that I'm partial to LSU, but I've thought since their first game vs. Oregon that they were the most impressive team in the country. They have as good a resume as anyone--better than both Alabama & Arkansas IMO. And they're just now playing with their primary Quarterback under center.

Randy, they won and beat the teams on their schedule, All the other teams have lost this weekend, the SOS for Bama is ok too with Penn State winning. Who else would you put in Bama's place?

 

Again the SEC winner has no automatic bid into the BCSNCG, no conference does. We are #2 and we are in if we beat Auburn like Kirk said, "If Bama beats Auburn 2-0, they are still in, they won the game."
