Georgia gets an automatic bid to what? There is no such thing as an automatic bid to the BCSCG, you have the PAC12, you have the Big East, the ACC, The Big Ten, you then have the SEC, so how does the SEC have the Automatic Bid, and Georgia is not in the top 10 BCS standings.

 

If Georgia wins the SEC they will go to the BCS Sugar Bowl, If LSU wins they will go to the BCSCG and play either Bama/Hogs and the team left out goes to the BCS Sugar Bowl. Hogs or Bama. Georgia losing in the SECCG goes to a very nice bowl.

 

The BCS wants the two highest rated teams and it might be LSU/Bama/Hogs, same if Michigan and Ohio State were 11-0 /10-1 and LSU Bama were 8-3/ 9-2. Michigan and Ohio State are the two highest rated teams in the BCS so then they would play in the natonal championship game...Hope this helps some.

ESPN is saying that the likelihood of it happening is nil, but it CAN happen if they are ranked #2.

Why do you say it is not likely? The only things that have to happen are: LSU beats Arkansas, Alabama beats Auburn, and Georgia then beats LSU. All of those could quite possibly happen.

Why was the Big East members so upset with Pitt and Syracuse leaving the Big East? Because the BCS could take away their BCS berth which the smaller conference do not have. The BCS bowls are the Sugar, Cotton, Orange, Rose, Fiesta. The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) has the BCSCG game on January 7th, it takes the two highest ranked teams at the time on December 5th.

 

For Georgia to make it and they have two losses they would have to have the final ranking at #'s 1 or 2 to play in that game. If they beat LSU, will they pass all the teams in front to make it? NO. If they beat LSU they have an Automatic bid to the Sugar Bowl.

 

Thats why Louisville wanted to go to the Big 12 so they could go to the BCSCG, but they are worried that the BCS will take away their status if they remained in the Big East.

Nope, you are incorrect. Georgia would have to ranked either 1 or 2 as of December 4th on that selection sunday. The automatic bid is for the BCS Sugar Bowl which has a tie in as the Big 10 does to ther Rose Bowl. Now if you meant the BCS Sugar Bowl you are right, georgia will go and play an at large team, maybe Houston as Utah played Bama.

 

Remember there is no Automatic Bid for the SEC in the National Championship game. How would the Big 12/ACC/Big 10/PAC10/Big East feel if the SEC had an automatic Bid to the NC game? Then all the schools would want to leave and join the SEC so they would have a chance to play in the big Game.
