I would have a hard time justifying anything other than LSU/Alabama at this point.

 

Agreed. The majority of people also felt that way regarding Ohio State/Michigan a few years back. The voters didn't want the rematch, and it ended up being the correct decision. If they do it again, will it end up being the right call again? :idunno:

Brad Edwards (BCS Expert) says OSU if they win has to skip the two teams I mentioned, "they can't vote that way because Stanford don't play. The voters in history don't pass teams, and would have to vote OSU over Stanford and you would need a bunch of voters to do so. "Don't just say I don't want a rematch because of a rematch, give reasons why". This conversation is going on as I type and I'm reporting what Brad has said.

 

One guy doesn't want a rematch because the first game was a boring game, and he is getting blasted by the other experts.

Another thing to consider....The last thing those voters are going to have in their heads before casting their ballots, isn't Alabama dominating Auburn, it isn't LSU dominating Georgia, or LSU v. Bama in OT....It's going to be Oklahoma State beating Oklahoma...

I know you don't wanna hear this, but those guys are just giving their opinions. That doesn't make them right. History shows that voters in the final polls vote against the rematch. Look at what happened between Ohio State and Michigan only a couple years back. I'm not saying it's right, I'm giving a plausible alternate scenario that has evidence of happening in the past.

^Why because he doesn't agree with you? :lol: Stanford is done, so yeah they could easily jump them. VaTech very easily could lose again to Clemson, so they'd jump them. Now they're 3rd. Then it simply becomes a matter of whether the voters want to vote for a rematch, or vote for a game we haven't already seen. Why do you think Saban came out and said he hopes the voters vote for the two best teams? He did it because there's always been an opinion that the human voters can sway the BCS by voting against rematches. That's how Florida, not Michigan, played Ohio State a couple years back. If the voters decide, regardless of who the feel are the best teams, they don't want to see a rematch they can easily make it happen.

I'm not pulling for Georgia to lose, I don't think they're capable of beating LSU. JMO. I'll be shocked if Michigan isn't in the Sugar.

 

 

Larry, I want to see the rematch, I think we will see the rematch. I'm simply saying, a couple years ago, most of these same guys were saying that Michigan vs. Ohio State part two would happen. Michigan was in the #2 spot in the BCS, and were idle, while Florida went and won their final game. What happened? The voters changed enough votes to Florida to prevent the rematch. Do I think it's going to happen? Nope, but it's definitely plausible.

It doesn't matter what you or I, or the nation wants. It matters what those writers/coaches, whomever it is that has those votes, wants. And if they don't want a rematch, we won't see one. Right or wrong, that's a simple fact. I agree with you that it's going to be LSU/Alabama but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it's LSU/Oklahoma State.

I don't believe that for a second. The Texas Tech game paints that picture, but I just don't see OK State winning it. Call it gut feeling.

The Texas Tech game gives the impression that Oklahoma State would be better given the absolute dominance they exerted over Texas Tech while Oklahoma lost at home to them.

Personally, I'd like to see LSU vs. OSU in the National Championship. I love seeing how the SEC really stacks up against the best of the other conferences. With a rematch, we just get to see another SEC battle of the titans. Fun to watch and a great game, sure. I just want something different. I think 'Bama is better than OSU, but I want to see OSU against LSU in the championship regardless.
