November 20, 201114 yr No way should a team that doesn't win their division in any conference be in the national chanmpionship game. I am rooting for LSU all the way. Having said that if they don't win the SEC West- I don't see how you can put them in the title game. Same for Alabama and Arkansas. This is the problem with not having a playoff system and ranking every team in the SEC above all others. It is ridiculous that three teams from the same division of the same conference are going to be ranked 1, 2 and 3 in the country. Furthermore, should any of those three teams lose to Georgia, then the SEC has eliminated itself from the national championship picture. With 3 of the 5 big bowls played in SEC home states this year, what further advantage should the SEC have???...vote most of the their teams in the Top 10 next year and just rotate them around when they lose to each other..."oh Arkansas #6 just lost on the road to a tough #4 Florida team-so that shouldn't hurt them too bad in the polls" I can hear the announcers saying. Blow this system up....great for controversy, but the system is corrupt. Playoffs settle the issue fair and square.
November 20, 201114 yr Georgia has no wins that paint them as a legitimate national contender. Heck, they even let Kentucky hang around. What if they beat LSU? Would that not be the best win anyone has had all season?
November 20, 201114 yr What if they beat LSU? Would that not be the best win anyone has had all season? There won't be a 2 loss team in the NCG this year.
November 21, 201114 yr Someone speculated that the BCS rankings that come out tomorrow night could be LSU, Bama, Arkansas. They won't end up there because they'll likely be two more games involving those three, but I think it's very possible that those are the three best teams in college football.
November 21, 201114 yr I want to see Houston beat LSU! Here is your only chance for that happening...http://www.ea.com/ncaa-football
November 21, 201114 yr I am not seeing any scenario where Georgia makes it the national title game, unless they dismantle both Georgia Tech and LSU. Barely beating either or both of them will not cut it. They have yet to really have a good victory. If LSU wins this week, I think they are in. If Bama wins this week, they are in. If Arkansas wins this week, it would be interesting to see what happens. People can hate on the BCS all they want, but it makes for good conversation. If people want chaos, then root for Arkansas to win this weekend. I have no clue what would happen or who would even be playing in the SEC championship game. The only scenario that could possibly keep 'Bama out of the title game is an LSU loss to Arkansas. I don't think Auburn has a chance to beat the Tide this year.
November 21, 201114 yr Author Of course it won't happen, but after watching USC the last couple of games, I think they would be the team with the best odds of unseating LSU, and it would have given me the USC vs. Les Miles game I have always wanted.
November 21, 201114 yr The only scenario that could possibly keep 'Bama out of the title game is an LSU loss to Arkansas. I don't think Auburn has a chance to beat the Tide this year. Because it could force Alabama into the SEC Championship game? Because that's likely what would happen if Arkansas beat LSU.
November 21, 201114 yr Because it could force Alabama into the SEC Championship game? Because that's likely what would happen if Arkansas beat LSU. If Arky beats LSU they'll be in the SEC title game. They'd have to jump Bama IMO with where they'll be in the standings. There won't be a 2 loss team in the NCG this year. What if UGA is the only team to beat LSU?
November 21, 201114 yr If Arky beats LSU they'll be in the SEC title game. They'd have to jump Bama IMO with where they'll be in the standings. You know this how? Didn't Arkansas lose to Alabama?
November 21, 201114 yr You know this how? Didn't Arkansas lose to Alabama? At 3 in the polls, they'd have to jump Bama by beating the #1 team. Both teams would have had an equal shot at the Tigers. How could Arky not pass them? It would be different if Arkansas was at #8 right now.
November 21, 201114 yr Because it could force Alabama into the SEC Championship game? Because that's likely what would happen if Arkansas beat LSU. That's what I think. Otherwise, 'Bama is a lock. The only way they could end up not making it is if they win the west and get knocked off by Georgia. The BCS is a spectacle. The way things have played out, LSU actually has a tougher road to secure a title berth than Alabama, IMO. They may have been better off losing that game in hindsight. The Pac-10 might be able to put together an all-star team and give LSU or Alabama a close game.
November 21, 201114 yr If Arky beats LSU they'll be in the SEC title game. They'd have to jump Bama IMO with where they'll be in the standings. I posted the information about the tiebreaker upthread, but I'll rehash it a bit here. In this scenario, we're assuming that Arkansas beats LSU and LSU drops behind both Alabama and Arkansas. At that point, which one is higher in the BCS becomes irrelevant. The three team tiebreaker says that the highest ranked team in the BCS goes to the title game unless the second highest team is five or less spots behind them in the BCS. If that is the case, it reverts to head to head between those two teams only. So since Alabama beat Arkansas, it won't matter which one is in front of the other since there is no way Alabama falls more than five spots behind Arkansas without a loss to Auburn which would make this moot anyway.
