Boone is the only 6A team that was ever a powerhouse. They used to have a lot of kids that now are going to Boone/Ryle/Cooper. Again, talent is thinned out.

 

It's not rocket science. Coaching is fine. Individual talent is good. Commitment is good. Just spread out. That simple.

No clue, the way we all took it afterwards is that Male assumed they were going to win, we never really got an answer on here or else where as to whether or not that was the case.

I was bored at work today so did some digging......

 

In the past 10 years only 6 different teams have played in the large school state championship......

 

Trinity 9x's

St. X 5x's

Male 3x's

Scott County 1

Ryle 1

SK 1

 

Gosh I can't begin to imagine why any of the other 6A schools would want X and T out, especially when many of the other schools feel those two schools have an advantage over the others.

Over the past 10 years either X or T have played in the championship game and 4 times they've played each other in the championship.

 

Often times X and T fans are quick to say that if X and T were excluded next would be Male, well prior to this past year Male hadn't made the Championship game since Michael Bush was at Male in 2002.

 

2010 Trinity's closest game in the playoffs came from Ryle which I guess is one of those average NKY teams that this is all about and not any of the Louisville 6A teams they played, including the Championship game against Male.

 

In 2009 St. X's closest game came from SK another below average NKY team that was playing X on the road at X's home field.

 

Now just one last thing, if you remove T and X from 6A and replace them with the teams they beat in the semi finals of the first 4 6A state championship here's a break down of what teams would have played in the state championship.

 

2007 Boone Co vs Meade Co

 

2008 Eastern vs SK; Eastern and Manual lost to St. X and T but were in the opposite bracket of SK so I gave the nod to Eastern sense they had a better record than Manual.

 

2009 Greenwood vs Scott County

 

2010 Ryle vs Male

 

Unless my math is fuzzy that would be 3 below average NKY teams playing in the state championships if X and T weren't in 6A.

 

Yea I guess NKY 6A really does need to try to catch up with the rest of the state. I'm pretty sure we all know it'll take alot longer for them to catch up to T and X though....

Comes down to 3 things. 1. Numbers 2. Youth leagues in Boone, kenton, and Campbell Co eliminate many players at too young of an age, and 3. Beaty is a better coach than anyone in blue

can throw against them. If you want to beat Trinity you need to get all of your best athletes training year round to equal their numbers. Even then you have to create a better game plan than their staff and get your players to buy in so they stay disciplined

That's my point. It produces very, very good football players, no doubt. However it eliminates too many. I don't know anything about the Boone Co. youth leagues, so I don't know if there is a mandatory "Everyone plays a quarter" rule. When you are losing kids that could contribute to your program as a 17 year-old, but quit due to not playing as an 11 year-old, you aren't maxing the potential of your program. When you are already losing in the numbers game, you need to do whatever you can to narrow the gap.

 

Also, Trinity's coaching staff is ridiculous. That's another major gap b/n the 6A NKY schools and Trinity.

Yes and no. Some organizations/teams are better than others. Also, over the last several years they have addressed the playing time issue by splitting the midget division and starting the Junior Youth division last year. One of the major problems with the NKYFL is the weight limits. Lots of kids never get to play until Middle school because of the weight restrictions, which puts the big kids way behind the curve.

The county feeder system for Boone and Ryle has sent them to the final 4 and state game. Problem is when you get there the best of Florence/Union is overmatched by the best of Louisville. How does playing together in 7/8th grade solve this?

I agree. I find it hard to believe that ANY parent in their right mind would have said they sent their child to Highlands, simply to play football. If they did, they are a very poor parent, indeed! Now, football is an aspect of the opportunities at Highlands, but neither is it the only one or the most important one for a child's education.

BF, Woody is correct in regards to your assumption regarding parents' intent. Happens everywhere. There are parents who send their kids to CCH for football. Same as Beechwood. Same as Dixie.
