2 starting offensive lineman were out before the game and another hurt during the game..I would say that had something to do with the Birds not being able to move the ball. No excuses just is what it is..Trinity is very very good..

I'm sure this is hard for many to believe and I typically wouldn't, but with the team that Trinity has this year, I believe it. If I remember right, a big chunk of Trinity's starters from last year were sophomores; between them and the rest of the players that are there, they are going to be VERY good. I don't believe that Trinity would have scheduled their season the way that they have if they were not as good as they are supposed to be.

Trinity has superior talent plain and simple. The Birds are going to have their work cut out for them this season but they won't face anyone with Trinitys talent. I can see Boyle Co, Dixie, Elder and Ryle being tough games. After seeing what CovCath did to Ryle tonight I'd mark that one down as a tough one.

When you play the #9 team in the country you need to expect this. As much as anyone out there, i want Highlands to be imperfect this year, but in all honesty i put absolutely NO faith in this loss as a sign of weakness. This loss meant nothing in the scope of this season. No coach wants their team to lose even a scrimmage but the simple fact is that the coaching staff there just got the best gift they could get this year. A solid reminder to this team that they can be beat. If you thought they were motivated before, I really hate to be Boyle next week. The 4 time defending state champs just got embarressed and toyed with. Now they have a serious point to prove and that does not make for a pretty scene for Boyle next week!

I need to reconsider what I said about T's passing game. H's penetration had quite a bit to do with T's so so passing. After T made the needed adjustments, it was obvious the running game was enough and, per those I talked to, the coaching staff wantes to show as little as possible to Brentwood's coaches who were in the stands.

Is it true that Highlands didn't make it past midfield until the 2nd half of the game? I'm sure Trinity is good, but come on.... If the O line was the reason for the low offensive output, what does that say about the quality of depth at these positions or has Highlands revealed it achilles to the rest of 4a tonight? By the way, Cov Cath put 49 on Ryle tonight....

Cov Cath has Blake Bir so they will see a crop of good QBs tHis year. Pike and the Grant county Kid that transferred to Ryle. I'm thinking though it sounds like they may have had trouble stopping the run. Dailin Dawkins is as good as advertised and I'm sure he had a solid game.

And yet they still won the scrimmage last year. Trinity still IMO hasn't reached their full potential, but I think this shows just how good they are when they thump a former 5A program that has won 4 straight. It's a definite indication as to why 6A belongs to Trinity.

Good to debate, but it is week -1. We will see how the season pans out.

Did New kick any into the endzone? what about the extra point? Someone had mentioned the field position advantage Trinity had.....Is this a special teams issue or kicking game?

I think T's defense is pretty darn good. The offense lost a lot in Derek Bishop and the two dependable receivers, Kopp and Steffey. Adam Barry is a man in the middle of the DL. I am hopeful that the D can carry the Rocks until the O gets up to speed.

Great post, we all thought going in to this week that Trinity was pretty much hands down the best in the state. The Rock's just proved they are and showed why, no shame in that if you're a Highlands fan especially when you consider that T is a NATIONALLY ranked team and that alot of those rankings think that only 8 other teams in the country could hang with them. I mean to be in the top 10 out of thousands of schools is pretty darn solid.

From the looks of the Boyle threads now, many in that co. will sleep better tonight. maybe all of 4a for that matter.
