August 5, 201115 yr You may want to check, and see who has been complaining about the lack of offense. You stated that Votto was the only one who hit in June. Last time I checked he was the 1B. I showed stats that proved that statement to be wrong. Now that's funny. I should have looked at the stats. I was pretty much just going off all of the noise on here about the offense. I will leave it at this. The Reds are an average team. They are little better offensively on the curve and a little worse pitching. They simply overachieved last season. This is NOT Dusty's fault.

August 6, 201115 yr OK, my 2 cents. Never liked Dusty as a manager, never will. Reds backed into the division championship last year and most everyone knows it. The divisional playoff was embarrassing.

You must be one of the guys that thought firing Sparky, and letting Pete Rose walk is the reason the Reds won the NL West in 79 after finishing 2nd to the Dodgers two years in a row. It makes more sense to argue with spindoc when he states that the Ohio River is clear, blue water.

August 6, 201115 yr As I thought more about this ongoing thread this afternoon, the more irritated I have become. What is happening in this thread and on sports talk shows by some callers and even the hosts is terrible. We have a manager who has managed one team to a World Series, managed the pathetic Chicago Cubs to the National League championship series and came in to Cincinnati and managed a team of losers into a division title. He is one of the winningest managers in baseball history. This year's team spent time in first place and was in contention for much of the season. And yet here we have a group of supposed fans calling for him to be fired. Isn't this the type of fan most of us abhor - the short sighted fan who only cares what is happening now. The ungrateful fan who could care less about the success last year or in prior years. The more I think about all this fire Dusty talk, the more disappointed I have become that there are supposed Reds fans that are actually ranting about. Let me make one thing clear. I am no Dusty Baker fan. I thought it was a mistake when they hired him. I am as frustrated as anyone with this team right now and where they stand. But I think firing him would be one of the worst acts I can ever recall by Reds' management. Much worse than firing Tony Perez. Not as bad as letting Sparky go but not far behind it when it comes to being short sighted, unfair and ungrateful.

Didn't say it was right or wrong but that's the way it has always been. The Reds have laid down, this road trip has definetly been proof of that. Dusty doesn't make the plays but he is the boss in that clubhouse. He is the one who makes out the lineup and he is the one that calls the shots during the game. Everyone in the media said this was the most talented team in the Central Division. Dusty is the leader of the pack and therefore the one who is responsible. Sorry...

I see a team trying as hard as they can, almost trying too hard at times but they just aren't good enough to get the wins, even against theses lowly bunches they have faced this week.
